Chapter 11: Request for Help
The next day, Su Shixiao woke up naturally, cleaned himself up, and went downstairs. The house was empty. He grabbed a quick breakfast and then went straight to the company to find Nan Yanzhou.
Fortunately, he still had his company badge to swipe his way in; otherwise, he wouldn’t have been able to enter. But getting into the company was useless. He knocked on the CEO’s office door several times with no answer. Nan Yanzhou hadn’t come to work again.
He sat in the reception area waiting for Nan Yanzhou to return, but he didn’t see him for the entire morning.
He had no choice but to go back home, but first, he ate lunch at a restaurant outside before heading home.
Saturday.
He sat by a nearby window, holding his iPad and stylus.
It was Saturday. Where could he find Nan Yanzhou? Should he ask Xiao Bei or his older brother? No, asking about Nan Yanzhou suddenly would be too abrupt. He should ask He Junsui instead.
With that thought, he immediately opened He Junsui’s chat page.
Yuan Xiao: Can you help me ask where Nan Yanzhou is right now?
He Junsui only replied to him half an hour later.
He Junsui: OK, I’ve already found out for you. No need to thank me too much, just buy me a meal.
He Junsui: [Triumphantly]jpg. He Junsui: [Running Horse Ranch] address.
Su Shixiao smiled slightly, tapping the screen with his finger.
Yuan Xiao: Mmm, I’ll treat you to a meal after I clear my name.
After replying to the message, he got up to change clothes, grabbed his phone, and left the house.
It took over an hour to reach the entrance of the ranch. Just as he was about to enter, a staff member blocked him. “Sir, I apologize, but the ranch has been fully booked. Please come back tomorrow.”
“My brother’s surname is Su, Su Shizhi. He told me to come,” Su Shixiao lied without batting an eye.
The staff member certainly knew Su Shizhi. Young Master Su and Young Master Nan were frequent guests here. He looked at Su Shixiao with obvious disbelief. “Young Master Su and his friends come here often. I’ve never seen someone like you with them.”
Su Shixiao felt helpless and had to take out his phone to show him a few photos of the three brothers. “Do you believe me now?”
The staff member’s attitude immediately changed 180 degrees. He said respectfully, “Please enter.”
Su Shixiao was used to this kind of thing. He ignored the staff member and walked straight into the ranch.
After entering, he saw a few strangers standing by the stables selecting horses. He approached a younger man who looked relatively handsome and asked, “Do you know where Nan Yanzhou is?”
The young man looked up at him. It was a stranger. He wondered why Brother Nan hadn’t mentioned meeting a new friend recently. He chuckled, “Brother Nan went riding. It’s been a while. You can wait here. He should be coming back soon.”
“Alright, thank you,” Su Shixiao gave a polite smile.
The young man stroked the horse’s head and asked, “I haven’t seen you before. Are you a new friend of Brother Nan’s?”
Su Shixiao: “Something like that.”
“Oh, if you’re Brother Nan’s friend, you’re my friend too.” The young man showed a sweet smile. “My name is Shen Fengjun. What’s yours?”
“My name is Su…” Before he could finish, he heard Nan Yanzhou’s voice.
“Su Shixiao, what are you doing here?”
“Did you come to find Shizhi?”
Shen Fengjun’s eyes widened as he looked at him. Isn’t this the legendary younger brother of Brother Su?
He is good-looking, but he seems so subdued. No wonder his presence is small. He looks quite aloof.
Su Shixiao subconsciously looked up, seeing Nan Yanzhou on the horse, looking at him with a half-smile. He felt nervous, and his heart beat faster. He clenched his hands and spoke, “No, I came to find you.”
Nan Yanzhou immediately jumped off the horse, handed the reins to a staff member, and walked up to him in a few strides. “Do you need something?”
“Mmm.” Su Shixiao saw a few people nearby looking at them curiously and said to him, “Can we go somewhere private to talk?”
Nan Yanzhou nodded, turned, and led him to an empty, secluded spot. He asked impatiently, “Go ahead, what do you need me for?”
“I want to check the surveillance footage in the Art Department,” Su Shixiao continued. “Also, to check if the character named ‘Zhu Fu’ is among the designs Wu Qing reported in the system.”
Nan Yanzhou looked down at him. The pressure radiating from him was intense, making Su Shixiao feel slightly uneasy.
Just when Su Shixiao thought he was going to refuse, he heard his question and felt a sense of relief.
“Why? There must be a reason.”
Su Shixiao told Nan Yanzhou everything that had happened the day before yesterday.
Nan Yanzhou’s expression became serious, anger mixed in his brows. He looked intently at Su Shixiao without speaking.
Su Shixiao unconsciously tugged at the corner of his clothes, pursed his lips, and asked softly, “Mr. Nan, do you not believe me either?”
Nan Yanzhou looked at him and chuckled. “I haven’t said anything yet, and you’re already so afraid that I won’t believe you?”
“Mmm, I don’t want to be wrongly accused by anyone, especially my boss.” Su Shixiao was momentarily captivated by his smile and instantly lowered his gaze to avoid looking at him.
Nan Yanzhou was unusually patient. He took out a cigarette and lit it. “Then why didn’t you come to me the day before yesterday? Why only now?”
It was Su Shixiao’s first time seeing him smoke, and he was slightly dazed. “I tried. You weren’t at the company.”
Nan Yanzhou exhaled a puff of smoke. “Why didn’t you look for Shizhi? If you can’t find me in the future, just tell your brother or your younger brother to let me know.”
“Mr. Nan, please don’t tell them. I don’t want them to worry.” Su Shixiao paused, staring at his sexy look while smoking, and continued, “They don’t know I work at your company. Please don’t tell them. I don’t want them to know.”
Nan Yanzhou didn’t say anything, just looked at him. “Mmm, whatever you want. Add my contact info. Send me a message if you can’t find me in the future.”
He had left his phone in the changing room. After saying that, he turned and led Su Shixiao to the changing room to retrieve his phone.
After finding his phone, Nan Yanzhou opened the QR code for him to scan. “I’ll have Assistant Cheng go to the company to check for you shortly, but there are no surveillance cameras in the department. We can only see if she uploaded the character you mentioned to the system. If not, we’ll think of other ways.”
“Okay, thank you.” Su Shixiao scanned the code and added him as a friend.
Nan Yanzhou called Assistant Cheng’s number and asked him to handle the matter at the company. Assistant Cheng really wanted to refuse, but his boss paid him well, so he eagerly rushed off to the company to run the errand for his boss.
After handing the matter over to Assistant Cheng, Nan Yanzhou turned off his phone screen, looked at Su Shixiao, and asked, “Assistant Cheng will take a while to get to the company. Do you know how to ride a horse?”
Su Shixiao shook his head. “No.”
“Alright then. Seeing how good you are at racing, I thought you might know how to ride,” Nan Yanzhou said with a hint of disappointment. He had been hoping to have a horse race with Su Shixiao.
Su Shixiao: “I can learn.”
Nan Yanzhou asked the staff to bring him a new set of equipment. Once Su Shixiao had changed and geared up, Nan Yanzhou took him to select a horse.
Nan Yanzhou didn’t have the patience to accompany him to choose a horse, nor did he intend to teach him, instead finding a staff member to instruct him.
