Chapter 12: Horse Riding
When Su Shixiao had chosen a horse and was about to look for Nan Yanzhou, he saw Su Shizhi riding a horse toward them. Nan Yanzhou also happened to be approaching with a staff member.
Seeing that his brother hadn’t noticed him, Su Shixiao spoke to Nan Yanzhou first, “Mr. Nan, I’ve chosen one.”
“Mmm, I found someone to teach you.” Nan Yanzhou glanced at Su Shizhi in the distance. “Aren’t you going to greet your brother?”
Su Shixiao was so nervous that he felt a sense of relief when he heard Nan Yanzhou wouldn’t personally teach him how to ride. “My brother is coming over.”
Su Shizhi saw his second younger brother and was shocked at first, then quickly rode up to him. He jumped off his horse and walked straight up to Su Shixiao. “Xiao Xiao, what are you doing here?”
Su Shixiao saw his brother looking at him with confusion and was momentarily at a loss for how to answer. “I…”
The main thing was that he didn’t know anyone here, and his sudden appearance made his mind go blank.
Nan Yanzhou saw how anxious he was, struggling to find an excuse, and kindly helped out, “I asked him to come. After racing him last time, I thought about having a horse race with him, but it turns out he doesn’t know how to ride a horse.”
Su Shixiao turned his head to look at Nan Yanzhou, surprised that Nan Yanzhou would help him, and was stunned for a second.
“Xiao Xiao, if you don’t know how to ride, I’ll teach you.” Su Shizhi stepped forward and took the reins from Su Shixiao’s hand.
“Okay,” Su Shixiao nodded.
“By the way, last Friday, you needed my help with something. What was it?” Su Shizhi asked while checking to make sure his equipment was on properly. “Last time, because of Xiao Bei, I didn’t get a chance to wait for you to finish.”
Nan Yanzhou stood to the side, arms crossed, watching them. Hearing Su Shizhi’s words, he knew what they were talking about. So he had looked for Shizhi, but why is he keeping it from them now?
Nan Yanzhou curled his lips, observing the two brothers.
Su Shixiao lowered his head slightly, concealing all emotion in his eyes, and let his brother check if his helmet was secured. “It’s nothing. I solved it myself.”
“That’s good then.” After the check was complete, Su Shizhi led the horse away. “Let’s go. Brother will teach you how to ride.”
After they left, Nan Yanzhou, having no more drama to watch, mounted his own horse and rode off aimlessly.
An hour later, Nan Yanzhou received a message from Assistant Cheng, saying that Wu Qing had not uploaded a game character named “Zhu Fu” into the system and that the deleted files on Su Shixiao’s computer could not be recovered.
He went directly to Su Shixiao, who was carefully riding his horse. He had the staff member lead Su Shixiao’s horse away, then walked up and grabbed Su Shixiao’s reins.
The reins in his hand were suddenly yanked away. He jumped in surprise and quickly looked down to see Nan Yanzhou holding the reins. He instantly froze, his heart pounding loudly.
Nan Yanzhou saw him spaced out, pulled the horse forward, and said, “Assistant Cheng checked. Wu Qing did not upload the character ‘Zhu Fu,’ and the missing files on your computer can’t be recovered. Think again about whether you’ve missed anything.”
Su Shixiao couldn’t hear what he said because his heart was beating too loudly. By the time he came to his senses, Nan Yanzhou had finished talking. He couldn’t help but say with a slight blush, “Mr. Nan, I didn’t quite hear you. Could you say it again?”
Nan Yanzhou was naturally impatient. Hearing him, he directly showed him the chat record. “Think again about whether you’ve missed anything.”
Finally, he looked up at him and asked, word for word, “Did the Second Young Master Su understand this time?”
Su Shixiao quickly nodded. “Mmm, I heard clearly.”
“Then hurry up and think if there’s anything you’ve missed, huh?”
Su Shixiao thought about it and did remember one thing he had overlooked. “I sent her images through a messaging app, more than once. I asked her to look at the line art and the complete image. I revised it several times and showed them all to her.”
“Mmm, I’ll have Assistant Cheng log into your messaging app on your computer and see if he can recover the history.”
Nan Yanzhou called Assistant Cheng directly and had him log into Su Shixiao’s messaging app.
Assistant Cheng: Mr. Nan, I’ll try to recover the history. Otherwise, we’ll have to use a third-party platform. Could you ask Second Young Master Su if he agrees?
Nan Yanzhou immediately handed his phone to Su Shixiao for him to reply himself.
Su Shixiao dazedly took Nan Yanzhou’s phone, saw Assistant Cheng’s message, and looked at the slightly impatient Nan Yanzhou. He quickly replied to Assistant Cheng and immediately handed the phone back to Nan Yanzhou. “Mr. Nan, all set.”
“Alright. If there’s news, I’ll message you.” Nan Yanzhou took his phone and walked away.
Su Shixiao watched his retreating back and gently sighed.
He pulled the reins, making the horse turn direction. He was usually quick to learn things, and he had already learned to ride, otherwise, his brother wouldn’t have left him to ride alone so quickly, but he was still not very skilled.
Half an hour later, he received a message from Nan Yanzhou.
Mr. Nan: The history has been recovered. I will handle this matter when we start work on Monday and get you justice. I apologize that you were wronged these past few days.
Mr. Nan: Also, I did not agree to your resignation. Remember to come to work on Monday.
Su Shixiao’s heart felt warm, as if someone had covered it.
Yuan Xiao: Okay, thank you, Mr. Nan.
Monday.
Su Shixiao arrived at work on time and ran into Wu Qing at the company entrance. When she saw him, her eyes widened. She said sarcastically, “Oh, isn’t this little Su who failed to frame me and got fired instead?”
Su Shixiao gave her a cold look. The pressure radiating from him made her tremble all over, but the thought that he couldn’t possibly find evidence made her feel very smug.
“Why are you here at the company? Are you looking for evidence again?”
“You’re trying to find something that doesn’t exist.”
Su Shixiao said airily, “That’s hard to say. You had better cherish this opportunity to work, or you’ll be fired soon.”
Wu Qing glared at him angrily, saying in a voice loud enough for the two of them to hear, “I deleted everything completely. There’s no way you can find evidence.”
“Oh, is that so? That’s not necessarily true.” Su Shixiao gave her a cold smile, then immediately wiped it off his face.
He didn’t bother with whatever she was muttering behind him, swiped his badge, and walked away.
In reality, the matter between him and Wu Qing had been widely spread throughout the company before he even arrived. There were quite a few onlookers watching them just now.
As Su Shixiao walked to his department, many people were watching him and whispering among themselves.
“Hey, wasn’t he fired? Why is he back at the company?”
“When did that happen?”
“You don’t know? I heard that he and the same department’s…”
…
Su Shixiao glanced at them indifferently and paid them no mind.
When he entered the department, everyone inside looked shocked to see him.
“Xiao Xiao? Weren’t you fired? Why are you back at the company?” Xiao Xi asked in surprise.
Su Shixiao ignored everyone’s stares and went straight to his desk. “Mr. Nan told me to come.”
“So, has the matter between you and Wu Qing been cleared up?” a nearby employee asked curiously.
Su Shixiao gave a faint smile, his eyes lacking any warmth. “You’ll know when Mr. Nan arrives.”
