Chapter 22: Business Trip
Nan Yanzhou sighed, stepped forward, and took his wrist. Su Shizhi saw him and was about to speak when he saw him pulling Xiaoxiao away.
Su Shibei watched their backs, then turned to ask his brother, “Brother, when did Brother Yanzhou become so close to Second Brother?”
Su Shixiao followed Nan Yanzhou, bewildered. When they reached the outside, he grabbed his wrist with his backhand, “Brother Yanzhou, where are we going?”
“Just follow me.”
Nan Yanzhou pulled him into a quiet corner.
He leaned against the wall and smoked a cigarette. Su Shixiao stood obediently by his side, waiting for him. Finally, unable to stand any longer, he asked, “Why did you drag me here?”
“I brought you out because I saw you were feeling uncomfortable in front of your family.” Nan Yanzhou exhaled a puff of smoke and said in a sexy, lazy voice, “What? You still want to go in and be tortured?”
“You…” Su Shixiao’s eyes widened unexpectedly as he looked at him. His emotions, previously hidden from the outside world, had been detected. “How did you see that?”
“With my eyes.”
“You didn’t see it before.”
“You weren’t familiar with you then, were you?”
Nan Yanzhou finished his cigarette and took a few steps closer, asking, “Are you always like this at home? You seem close to your family, yet you feel a little distant.”
Su Shixiao unconsciously clenched his fists at his question. He met the man’s eyes and pursed his lips, neither confirming nor denying.
Nan Yanzhou knew what was happening, and touched the back of his head with a distressed look. “Su Shixiao, come on this business trip with me next week.”
He didn’t know how to comfort him, so he asked him to change his surroundings for a while.
“Okay.” Su Shixiao’s attention was drawn to the hand on the back of his head. The slender, strong hand clasped the back of his head, and he felt his whole body warm.
They stayed outside for half an hour before entering the banquet. As soon as they entered, they ran into a hurried Su Shibei. Seeing his second brother, he came up and hugged his arm. “Second brother, I was looking for you.”
After he finished speaking, he noticed Nan Yanzhou standing nearby. He looked at him curiously and asked, “Nan, when did you and my second brother become so close?”
“You can ask your second brother.” Nan Yanzhou didn’t answer.
Su Shibei’s puzzled gaze shifted to his second brother’s face. Su Shixiao said, “I work at his company.”
“What?” Su Shibei stared at them both with his mouth wide open, shocked.
Su Shixiao ignored him and pulled him away, “Let’s go, the birthday party’s starting.”
After the party, he returned home exhausted from the day and lay in bed dressed for bed, staring at the empty ceiling. A moment later, his phone rang with a message. He picked up the phone next to him and saw a message from Nan Yanzhou.
Nanfeng: Remember to come with me on this business trip on Monday. You don’t need to bring anything; you can buy it directly when you get there.
Nanfeng: I’ll have Assistant Cheng send you the flight information tomorrow.
Su Shixiao stared at his message for a moment, then typed, “Why do you want me to go on this business trip with you?”
Yuanxiao: “I’m just the concept artist.”
Nan Yanzhou will reply soon.
Nanfeng: I just saw that you were acting like a wronged kitten and didn’t cry, so I took you out to change your mood.
Nanfeng: No need to thank me too much.
Nanfeng: Just consider it a token of your gratitude for not complaining to my dad.
Su Shixiao’s heart burned as he read his reply. He stared at it for a long moment before replying with a single “OK.” He wanted to thank him in person.
On Monday, Su Shixiao, carrying a backpack, headed straight to the airport. On the way, he sent Nan Yanzhou a message, asking if he’d arrived yet.
On arrival, Nan Yanzhou replied, saying he’d be there in half an hour.
Su Shixiao went through security first, found his gate, and sat down on a nearby chair.
Nan Yanzhou and Assistant Cheng arrived at the airport and passed through security when they saw Su Shixiao sitting alone. Nan Yanzhou walked over and said, “Su Shixiao.”
Su Shixiao heard his voice, looked up, and saw him. A smile immediately crossed his face. “Mr. Nan, you’re finally here.”
“Yeah.” Nan Yanzhou sat down next to him. “You’re too early.”
“Yeah, I didn’t even know what we were going on this business trip for,” Su Shixiao said.
Nan Yanzhou chuckled softly, leaning back lazily in his chair. “I’m just discussing a collaboration with a very popular anime. We’re looking for a collaboration. Don’t worry about anything, just treat it as an outing.”
“I…” Su Shixiao was stunned. He hadn’t expected Nan Yanzhou to really take him out for a change of pace. “Brother Yanzhou, thank you.”
“You’re welcome,” Nan Yanzhou said casually. “Just don’t tell my dad if I skip work next time.”
Su Shixiao was speechless for a moment, then finally hummed. “But you’d better go to work obediently.”
Assistant Cheng, listening to their conversation, couldn’t help but roll his eyes at his boss.
It was already past two in the afternoon when they got off the plane, and it was past four in the afternoon when they took a taxi to the hotel.
Nan Yanzhou walked Su Shixiao to the door of his room. “Rest up if you’re tired. I’ll take you out for something nice tonight.”
“Yes,” Su Shixiao nodded obediently. “See you tonight.”
Nan Yanzhou, seeing how well behaved he was, felt an itch in his hand as he ruffled his hair. “Come in.”
That evening, Nan Yanzhou took Su Shixiao to a private room in a high-end hotel. Upon entering, they saw four people.
A woman in a very sexy short skirt smiled and waved upon seeing them. “Brother Nan, you’re finally here.”
The other three looked at them as well. A seemingly gentle man adjusted his glasses. “Yanzhou, long time no see.”
Nan Yanzhou smiled and walked over to pat his shoulder. “Well, if you miss me next time, come find me in City B.”
He took Su Shixiao to a seat. The pretty young woman with waist-length hair looked at Su Shixiao with sparkling eyes. “Who is this?”
Nan Yanzhou introduced them. “This is my good friend’s younger brother, Su Shixiao.”
Then he turned to Su Shixiao and said, “They’re all good friends from college. Just be casual with them.”
Su Shixiao: “Yes.”
He smiled at them. “Hello, just call me Xiaoxiao.”
The long-haired young woman spoke first. “Hello, my name is Xu Kui. You can call me Kuikui.”
Su Shixiao nodded politely.
They all introduced themselves. The sexy young lady was Mo Yueqin, the gentle-looking man was Chen Xi, and the other man was Zhang Xushu.
Nan Yanzhou took a few sips of his cold drink and asked, “Have you ordered yet?”
Chen Xi handed him the menu in front of him. “No, I’ll order when you come.”
“Ladies first, then. Kuikui, Yueqin, you go first.”
After the two girls finished ordering, the menu was passed to Su Shixiao. Nan Yanzhou leaned closer to him. “Xiaoxiao, order whatever you want. Don’t be shy. I’ll pay.”
Su Shixiao felt the warm breath on his ear as he spoke, and he shifted uncomfortably. “Hmm.”
He thought his ears must be red.
