Chapter 26: What Are You Doing Here?
“Oh, I didn’t expect you were quite popular when you were little.” Nan Yanzhou teased him with a smile. He discovered that he quite enjoyed teasing Su Shixiao.
Su Shixiao, seeing him teasing again, turned away and ignored him.
After finishing his cigarette, Nan Yanzhou stood up from the sofa. He lowered his eyes to look at Su Shixiao. Su Shixiao looked up and saw him looking at him with a lazy demeanor. His voice was hoarse, having just finished smoking. “Su Shixiao, I’m done. Let’s go.”
A gust of wind blew by, ruffling Su Shixiao’s hair. “You go first. I’ll be back later.”
Nan Yanzhou sat back down and asked, “You don’t always stay here until work starts before returning to the office, do you?”
“Pretty much.” Su Shixiao put down his phone and turned away. Looking at him, “You just said it yourself, giving me the right to stay on the rooftop.”
Nan Yanzhou was stunned by his answer. “Aren’t you a little too lonely like that? Wouldn’t it be boring to stay here all day by yourself?”
“Not boring,” Su Shixiao leaned back on the sofa. “I like having my own space. Besides, there are flowers and sofas here, and it’s not exposed to the sun. It’s very comfortable.”
Nan Yanzhou felt an inexplicable feeling, a suffocating feeling. He rubbed his hair vigorously. “You should go out and make more friends. How can a child be so mature?”
Su Shixiao broke free from his harassment, looked at him seriously, and said, “I’m not a child. I’m 21.”
Nan Yanzhou: “In my eyes, anyone younger than me is a child, especially since you’re six years younger than me.”
Su Shixiao didn’t want to argue with him and changed the subject. “Mr. Nan, didn’t you just say you were leaving? You can leave now.”
“Are you trying to get me to leave?” Nan Yanzhou lay down. “I’m not leaving either. I’m just resting here.”
Su Shixiao: “…”
Upon returning home, Su Shixiao only saw his brother sitting at the table eating dinner. “Brother, where are Mom and Dad?”
Su Shizhi: “They went to my uncle’s house for dinner.”
Su Shixiao asked, “Why didn’t anyone tell me?”
“Didn’t Mom and Dad tell you?” Su Shizhi’s face was a little confused. “I thought Mom and Mom told you.”
Su Shixiao forced a smile. “Never mind, it’s okay.”
Even when something happened, he was always ignored. He was always the last to know, and only found out after asking.
Su Shixiao was always good at hiding his emotions, so Su Shizhi naturally didn’t catch on. Instead, he said gently, “Come over for dinner. I’ve already served you some food. We’ll eat when you get back.”
Su Shixiao said, “Okay,” and sat down across from his brother.
Back in his room, Su Shixiao’s face was tinged with irritation. A short while later, he received a group message from his graduation project teacher about the template and format requirements for the graduation project. He was even more annoyed by the fact that he had a meeting at nine o’clock to discuss the details. He quickly showered in his pajamas and soon after returned, he was on his computer, waiting for the graduation project teacher to arrive.
Assistant Cheng appeared in the art department again, walked straight towards Su Shixiao, and whispered, “Second Young Master Su, please come out for a moment. I need your help.”
“Yes.”
After leaving the room, Su Shixiao asked, “Assistant Cheng, how can I help you?”
Assistant Cheng smiled sheepishly. “Sorry to bother you again. There’s an important document that needs to be reviewed by President Nan today, and we can’t get through to him right now. Could you help me find him?”
Su Shixiao felt a little worried when he heard this. Last time, Nan Yanzhou had gotten into a fight in the bar, and he wondered if he was fighting again this time.
“Nothing, I’m calling my brother.”
He quickly pulled out his phone and called his brother. Su Shizhi was in a meeting, but when he saw it was Su Shixiao calling, he temporarily stopped. Xiaoxiao had called him more often than he had, so how could he not answer?
“Excuse me, I need to take a call.”
He answered the call, a hint of joy in his voice.
“Hello, Xiaoxiao, is there something you want to talk to me about?”
Su Shixiao was stunned for a second by his tone. “I wanted to ask if you know where Nan Yanzhou is right now?”
Su Shizhi’s smile froze, and he suddenly looked unhappy. “Maybe he’s home. He was drunk yesterday, and I took him home. He usually sleeps at home around this time when he’s drunk.”
“Then, brother, send me Nan Yanzhou’s address.” Su Shixiao, knowing Nan Yanzhou was asleep at home, relaxed and relieved.
“You’re just an employee, and you still care if he comes to work?” Su Shizhi was annoyed. Why did Xiaoxiao care more about Nan Yanzhou than him?
Su Shixiao felt his brother was inexplicably angry and ignored him. “Brother, just send me the address. Don’t worry about it.”
Su Shizhi knew his brother was determined to get things done, and he was very stubborn. “Okay, okay, got it. I’ll message you.”
Su Shixiao: “Okay, thanks, brother. I’m hanging up. I won’t disturb you at work.”
After receiving the address from his brother, Su Shixiao told Assistant Cheng that he was going to see Mr. Nan and then turned and left, not even giving Assistant Cheng a chance to thank him.
He drove all the way to Nan Yanzhou’s residential complex, parked his car, and registered with security before entering.
“Ring, ring, ring…”
Su Shixiao stood at Nan Yanzhou’s doorstep and rang the doorbell.
Nan Yanzhou was awakened by the ringing of the doorbell. His brows were etched with irritation, and his eyes, opening slightly cold, were a bit cold. He rubbed his aching temples and rolled over, ignoring the idiot who had woken him. But he heard him insistently ringing the doorbell.
This irritated him deeply, his patience completely gone. He immediately stood up in his slippers, his face dark and menacing, and went to open the door.
Seeing the deserted Su Shixiao standing at his doorstep, his anger subsided a little, and his expression softened a bit, though his tone remained sullen. “Su Shixiao, what are you doing here?”
Nan Yanzhou had been acting lazy or nonchalant towards Su Shixiao recently, but now, seeing his impatience and anger, he was stunned. He had almost forgotten that Nan Yanzhou was a dangerous man.
“Uncle Nan asked me to look after you. Even though I don’t want to, I have an important document I need your review, so you need to go to work today.”
“Yes.” Nan Yanzhou was still angry, but he was doing it for his own sake, so he couldn’t bring himself to scold Su Xiao. “Come in and sit for a while. I’ll go shower first, then go to the office.”
“Yes.”
Su Shixiao changed into slippers and sat on the sofa, taking a quick look at the room.
The living room was neatly tidy and comfortably furnished. A floor-to-ceiling window let in the sunlight, which was beautiful.
