I Fell In Love With My Friend's Younger Brother Who Has A Low Sense Of Presence. - Chapter 32

Chapter 32 Coats
Fang Nanshen handed them the ice water he had just bought. “Drink some water and take a break.”
After resting, they began setting up the tent. Su Shixiao, who had never done it before, couldn’t help much. Thinking he didn’t bring a tent, he glanced at Nan Yanzhou, who was setting up, and asked, “Where can I buy a tent here?”
Nan Yanzhou paused and looked up at him. “You didn’t bring a tent?”
Su Shixiao: “No, I was too lazy to bring one. I figured I’d buy one here.”
Su Shizhi, who had come to borrow tools from Nan Yanzhou, overheard him and walked up from behind him. “Xiaoxiao, you and Xiaobei sleep together. It’s almost set up. I’ll help you guys. I’ll go get a new tent from the boss.”
Su Shixiao didn’t expect his brother to suddenly appear, so he nodded and agreed. “Okay.”
In the end, Fang Nanshen and Shen Fengjun shared a tent, Su Shixiao and Su Shibei shared a tent, and the rest of the group each had their own tent.
After the tents were set up and the sky was getting slightly dark, Yan Haojiu said to everyone sitting down to rest, “Let’s go get some small tables, chairs, and grills, and the rest of you go get the ingredients. How about we have a barbecue later?”
Su Shibei was the first to respond positively, “Sure, I want some barbecue too. I’ll go get the things.”
Su Shixiao had never been in the kitchen much before and didn’t really know how to prepare food. He immediately chose to join Xiaobei, “I’ll get the things too.”
“Okay,” Yan Haojiu agreed, seeing no one else objected. He reminded him, “You’ll have to rent something from the boss.”
“Okay, don’t worry, Brother Yan, I have experience,” Su Shibei said confidently, patting his chest.
The remaining group divided up the work: two people would buy the ingredients, one would prepare the seasoning, and a third would prepare the dishes and utensils.
Su Shixiao followed Xiaobei to the boss to rent something. He saw that his brother was very skilled at communicating with the boss, his words clear and distinct. After renting the tables and chairs, he smiled and asked, “Do you come here often to rent things?”
“Yeah,” Su Shibei picked up all the stools. “Because I’m really not good at handling food.”
Su Shixiao folded the table and placed it on the grill. “Did you always sleep in the same tent with me when we came camping?”
Su Shibei grunted as he moved the chairs. “Because I’m afraid to sleep alone at night.”
He suddenly blurted out, “You have to sleep with me tonight.”
“I know.” Su Shibei’s excitement grew. “Brother, we haven’t slept together since we separated. I’m really looking forward to it.”
Su Shixiao wasn’t looking forward to it. He didn’t like sleeping with others, but he was fine with his brother. He had no objection.
“Yeah, it did take quite a while.”
“Brother, I might be a little awkward sleeping, but you won’t be disgusted by me, will you?”
“Yeah, I know.”
He’s been noisy even since he was little.
Su Shibei happily chatted with him about random things.
After everything was moved, they returned to the house, where they were still preparing the food. Nan Yanzhou brought a box of charcoal from somewhere and said, “When you get back, take that charcoal over there and light the fire.”
Following his gaze, Su Shixiao saw the box of charcoal and moved it over to him. “How do we light it?”
“Give me the blowtorch lighter and tongs you have.” Seeing he didn’t know how, Nan Yanzhou didn’t let him light it, but instead tried to do it himself.
Su Shixiao glanced at the tongs and blowtorch lighter on the ground and gave them to him, then stared at him with curious eyes, unblinking.
After lighting the charcoal fire, he looked up and saw Su Shixiao staring at him. His curious, yet slightly endearing expression made him pause for a few seconds, his heart tingling. He couldn’t help but smile. He put down his things, stood up, and stroked his hair. “It looks so good, doesn’t it?”
“Yeah, I’m curious.” Su Shixiao obediently let him touch his head.
“So do you want to try it?” Nan Yanzhou realized for the first time that he actually had the time to say that to Su Shixiao.
“Aren’t you all done?” Su Shixiao smiled. “How do I try it?”
“Then I’ll put it out and start over.” Nan Yanzhou said, picking up the tongs from the ground and about to put out the newly lit fire.
Su Shixiao’s heart warmed at his presence, and with a smile in his eyes, he grasped his wrist. “No, it’s okay. I’ll just take a look.”
“It’s okay. It’ll light up quickly.”
“Okay.”
They finished preparing everything together. By the time it was completely dark, all the lights in the camp were on.
Since autumn had already arrived, the nights were getting a bit chilly, especially in the mountains. Su Shixiao hadn’t anticipated this on his first camping trip, so he hadn’t brought a jacket. He sat in a chair, feeling the chill as he rubbed his arms. Everyone else was wearing thin jackets.
“Brother, here, snacks.” Su Shibei shoved a bag of chips into his arms. He then realized his brother was only wearing a short-sleeved shirt and no jacket. “Brother, aren’t you cold? Why aren’t you wearing a jacket?”
“I don’t have a jacket.” Su Shixiao tore open the bag of chips.
Su Shibei took off her coat and gave it to him. “Then you can wear mine. I’ll go ask if they have any extra.”
“Thank you, but you should wear it. They probably don’t have any.” Su Shixiao handed him the coat and patted his head. “You’re a bit weak, so go ahead. I’m not too cold.”
Su Shizhi was busy grilling skewers. Nan Yanzhou was watching and talking to him. During the conversation, he noticed that Su Shixiao was only wearing a short-sleeved shirt. He stopped talking and started to walk towards Su Shixiao.
The voices in his ear suddenly quieted. Su Shizhi noticed Nan Yanzhou was leaving and asked instinctively, “What are you going to do?”
“I’m going to give my employees some warmth.”
Su Shizhi then glanced over to Su Shixiao and the others. Seeing that Su Shixiao wasn’t wearing a coat, his handsome brows furrowed slightly. “I’ll go. You come and check on the skewers.”
“Okay, go ahead.” Nan Yanzhou didn’t argue with him. He was his younger brother, so he was the one who had the final say.
Su Shixiao was eating potato chips and trying to convince his brother to put on a coat when a coat suddenly blocked his view. He looked up and saw his brother standing in front of him, saying, “Put it on, he’s cold.”
“Brother, second brother is obviously cold,” Su Shibei complained immediately upon seeing his brother. “I gave him a coat, but he wouldn’t wear it. His hands are already cold.”
“But you put it on me, aren’t you cold?” Su Shixiao, still a little confused by this new situation, asked hesitantly.
“I’m not cold. I’m going to the barbecue. It’s a bit hot.”
“Yeah.” Su Shixiao put on his brother’s coat. “Thank you, brother.”
“Yeah.” Su Shizhi patted their heads after seeing him put it on, then went back to grilling.
“Why do you accept your brother’s clothes so easily but not mine?” Su Shibei grumbled, turning away aggrievedly.
“Ah…” Su Shixiao didn’t understand his train of thought, but explained, “Because my brother is grilling, he won’t be cold, but if I wear your clothes, you’ll be cold.”
