Chapter 43 Hospital
Su Shixiao felt a little embarrassed that he had seen her cry. She pulled out of his embrace and wiped her tears. “I’m hungry.”
“I’ll order you takeout later,” Nan Yanzhou said sternly. “But you must tell me everything that happens next time.”
“Yeah.” Su Shixiao was a little shy and didn’t pay attention to what he said. She hummed casually and moved to the bedside to find some shoes. “I’m going to the bathroom.”
As he stood up, he felt a sharp pain in his foot. It was so sudden that he couldn’t help but let out a breath. Nan Yanzhou, seeing this, frowned and quickly helped him sit down. “You’re not healed yet.” Don’t move.”
“I need to go to the bathroom.” Su Shixiao tried to stand. “It’s okay. I’ve been feeling much better these past two days.”
Nan Yanzhou, with a cold expression, helped him to the bathroom. “I’ll help you. Go slowly.”
When Su Shixiao returned from the bathroom, he saw Nan Yanzhou with a cold expression, saying fiercely, “You’re in this state, why are you still trying so hard? You’re in the hospital all alone like this, with no one to see you, and your family hasn’t even looked for you. Aren’t you feeling wronged?”
The thought of him spending two days in the hospital alone filled him with heartache and distress. He should have gone to see him sooner.
“I feel wronged.” Su Shixiao carefully returned to bed. “But someone did see me.”
“Who?” Nan Yanzhou was surprised that he had told anyone, and the realization made him inexplicably unhappy.
Su Shixiao: “He Junsui, he’s been here twice. He said he’d come see me again tomorrow.”
“You,” Nan Yanzhou said helplessly. “Forget it. Order whatever you want. See what you want first.”
He handed Su Shixiao his phone. “I’m going to see your attending physician now to check on your condition. I’ll be back soon.”
Su Shixiao took the phone, confused, and watched Nan Yanzhou leave the ward. “I can tell you that, too.”
Nan Yanzhou went to the office through the front desk nurse and found Su Xiao’s attending physician. “Hello, Dr. Liu. I’m Su Shixiao’s family member. I’d like to know how his condition is. Is it serious?” ”
“He currently has a mild soft tissue contusion. It’ll take about a week before he can get out of bed and move around. He should recover in about two weeks. It’s not serious, but remember not to get out of bed right now. I’ll check him in a couple of days. If he’s recovered well, he can get out and walk.”
“Anything else I should be aware of?”
“Keep a light diet and avoid alcohol…”
“Okay, sorry to bother you, Doctor Chen.”
Su Shixiao was still looking at his takeout order, unable to decide what to eat. Nan Yanzhou came in and saw him still browsing. “Haven’t you chosen anything yet?”
“No, it’s so hard to choose.” Su Shixiao’s eyes lit up when he saw him back.
“My friend runs a restaurant that makes delicious light meals. I’ll ask him to cook.” He took his phone, exited the takeout order page, and clicked on his contact number.
“Yeah, whatever.”
After dinner, it was completely dark. Su Shixiao looked at Nan Yanzhou, who was cleaning up the mess, and asked, “Are you going home?”
“I’m not going home tonight. I’ll stay here with you.” Nan Yanzhou cleaned up the mess without even looking up.
Su Shixiao’s heart was pounding. “Why?”
“Why?” Nan Yanzhou picked up the trash and threw it into the trash can. “If you want to stay, stay. I told you, I don’t have much patience, and I’m giving it all to you.”
Su Shixiao smiled secretly. “Oh.”
After dinner, Su Shizhi sat on the sofa. He hadn’t seen Su Shixiao or had dinner at home in two days. He was waiting here specifically to ask him what was going on.
After waiting for half a day without seeing Su Shixiao, he saw his father coming down the stairs and asked loudly, “Dad, have you seen Xiaoxiao come home these past two days?”
“No,” Su Ningge said, carrying a cup of water and going to the kitchen to boil some water. “He should be home late. Don’t worry, Xiaoxiao has always been independent. He’ll be fine.”
Su Shizhi still felt a pang of discomfort in his heart, so he took out his phone and called him directly.
Su Shixiao was being forced to lie down by Nan Yanzhou, preventing him from moving, when the phone on the table began to ring. Nan Yanzhou glanced at it, turned around, and said, “It’s your brother.”
He knew his brother would come to him to check in on him if he found out he’d been away for a few days, just like he had done the last time he and Nan Yanzhou were on a business trip. He sat up and answered the call, “Brother.”
Su Shizhi panicked when he heard Xiaoxiao’s muffled voice. “Xiaoxiao, what’s wrong with you not coming home for dinner lately?”
Su Shixiao didn’t know what to say. He had always told them directly if they asked, but now he hesitated. If he told them directly, Nan Yanzhou would definitely not stay with him, because his brother and the others would definitely stay by his bedside, but he wanted Nan Yanzhou to stay with him.
This thought kept popping up in his mind, and before he could figure out what to say, he blurted out, “I’m having dinner with friends and will be back soon.”
Nan Yanzhou frowned slightly at his resistance to telling his family the truth.
“Well, as long as you’re okay, come home early.” Su Shizhi didn’t say anything. After all, Xiaoxiao had grown up and had her own ideas.
After hanging up the phone, he realized Nan Yanzhou was staring down at him. Seeing his thoughts, his ears turned slightly red. “What’s wrong? Looking at me like that?”
“Nothing, I just think you’re a master liar.” Nan Yanzhou leaned slightly closer to him, teasing him slowly.
“I didn’t want to talk, I just wanted you to stay with me.” Su Shixiao met his gaze. “If my brother knew, they would definitely come to stay with me, and you wouldn’t be able to stay.”
Nan Yanzhou was startled and smiled. He hadn’t expected Su Shixiao to rely on him so much, and his heart softened. “Okay, I’ll come and keep you company for the next few days.”
Su Shizhi had been waiting on the sofa. A whole night had passed since he called Su Shixiao, and now it was dawn, but Su Shixiao still hadn’t returned.
His face grew colder and colder, and his worry grew. He took out his phone and called him directly.
In the hospital room, Su Shixiao was still asleep when the phone suddenly rang. He answered, dazed, “Hello.”
“Su Shixiao, where are you now?”
His brother’s worried, suppressed anger instantly jolted him awake. “Brother.”
“Where are you exactly? Tell me the truth, and I’ll come pick you up myself,” Su Shizhi said, his voice unwavering.
Su Shixiao lowered his head and said, “The hospital.”
Su Shizhi stood up from the sofa, his already tense heart tightening. “What’s going on? Why are you in the hospital when you’re fine?”
Su Shixiao: “I was in a car accident.”
“Which hospital? We’re going there right now.” Su Shizhi’s voice quickened with anxiety.
