Chapter 7: Booking a Large Private Room
Su Shixiao got back into the car to race against Nan Yanzhou and barely won.
Nan Yanzhou was the best racer among them, and hardly anyone had beaten him in years. Su Shibei was shocked that this person who came out of nowhere had actually won.
When Su Shixiao got out of the car, Su Shibei immediately ran up to him and said with admiration, “You’re amazing! My name is Su Shibei. What’s yours?”
Su Shixiao was momentarily stunned to see his younger brother suddenly appear before him. He then took off his helmet.
Su Shibei’s mouth dropped open in surprise when he saw his second brother. “Second—Second Brother, how could it be you?”
Nan Yanzhou got out of his car and walked over to them, saying in a slightly flippant manner, “You’re really good, kid. Let’s race together again next time.”
“Okay.” Su Shixiao smiled at Nan Yanzhou before answering his brother’s question. “Why can’t it be me?”
Su Shibei paused, then realized his second brother was talking to him. “No, Brother, we just thought you wouldn’t be into this kind of thrilling activity.”
Su Shizhi saw Su Shixiao’s face beneath the helmet and his expression darkened. He had always thought this younger brother of his was a good, obedient child who quietly stayed at home, perhaps just finding a quiet place to draw. He had never expected Su Shixiao to race, let alone be so good at it.
“Mmm.” Su Shixiao didn’t dwell on what he said, but then he saw his brother approaching with a grim face.
“Second Brother, how are you so good? Teach me!” Su Shibei’s eyes were bright with pure admiration as he grabbed his arm.
“Next time. Help me deal with Eldest Brother first,” Su Shixiao said, seeing his brother’s dark expression, feeling a headache coming on.
Su Shibei followed his gaze to his grim-faced eldest brother and instantly hid behind Su Shixiao. “Second Brother, save yourself. I’m helpless.”
Nan Yanzhou looked at Su Shixiao with a half-smile. He was clearly quite afraid of his brother inside, yet outwardly remained composed. Quite interesting.
When Su Shizhi got closer, Su Shixiao called out, “Brother.”
“Xiao Xiao, what’s going on? When did you learn to race?” Su Shizhi asked, his brow furrowed slightly.
“I’ve known for a while,” Su Shixiao said with a faint smile. “When? I think it was back in high school.”
He Junsui and Wu Ningnan ran over, worried, seeing Su Shixiao taking so long to return and being surrounded by his brothers. They thought something had happened.
“You…” Su Shizhi didn’t know what to say for a moment. He had never been as close to this younger brother as he was to Su Shibei. He could even feel a vague sense of distance emanating from Su Shixiao.
He Junsui approached and asked, “Xiao Xiao, are you alright?”
“I’m fine.” Su Shixiao smiled at him.
Su Shizhi looked at He Junsui and Wu Ningnan with a cold expression, daring to bring Xiao Xiao to race. Hmph.
He Junsui smiled awkwardly. The Su family heir is indeed terrifying.
Su Shizhi’s expression softened when he looked at his younger brother. “Xiao Xiao, we’re going to gather and eat later. Will you and your friends join us?”
Su Shixiao didn’t immediately agree. “Brother, let me ask them if they want to come.”
Hearing his brother’s response, Su Shizhi looked coldly at He Junsui and Wu Ningnan again.
They instantly nodded in agreement. “Xiao Xiao, we’d be delighted to join! It’s an honor to have a meal with Elder Young Master Su and Young Master Nan.”
Su Shizhi: “Xiao Xiao, they agreed.”
Nan Yanzhou watched Su Shixiao with a playful smile. Su Shixiao, meanwhile, looked very exasperated. “Okay, thank you, Brother. Sorry to intrude on your gathering.”
Nan Yanzhou was surprised by how formal the two brothers were with each other and couldn’t help but look closer at Su Shixiao and his own friends.
When Su Shizhi’s friends returned to their lounge, some were shocked and others surprised to learn about Su Shixiao.
Shocked that the Su family genuinely had a second young master, and surprised that the never-before-seen second young master had appeared here.
Half an hour later, the car races finally ended. A group of over ten people found a hotel near the racetrack.
When they got out of the car, Su Shizhi’s friends saw the Second Young Master Su for the first time and couldn’t help staring at him.
This Second Young Master Su looks a bit ordinary. Although he was good-looking, his presence was minimal. He didn’t have Su Shizhi’s tall, handsome, mature, and steady presence, which made him a noticeable figure in a crowd, especially as the Su family’s heir. Nor did he have Su Shibei’s delicate and beautiful face, born with an inherent nobility, who was now a top-tier celebrity known for his acting.
Compared to the Elder Young Master Su and the Younger Young Master Su, this Second Young Master Su was practically as ordinary as could be, even wearing an ugly black pair of glasses. No wonder the Second Young Master Su almost never showed his face.
Su Shizhi walked up to the reception desk and told the staff, “Book a large private room.”
“Certainly, sir.”
The staff led them into the private room. “Gentlemen, please have a seat. Someone will bring the menu shortly.”
After the staff member spoke, they left the room. Su Shixiao looked at the luxurious private room, his eyes cast down slightly.
This was the first time he, his brother, and his younger brother had a get-together with their friends. He had previously seen his brother and younger brother go out with friends and have gatherings, and he was very envious, even jealous of his younger brother back then.
But now, he was at that very gathering, a scene he had yearned for since childhood, yet he wasn’t excited anymore. In fact, he felt it was just meh.
He leaned back in his chair with a lack of enthusiasm, unintentionally glancing at Nan Yanzhou a few times. If he had any interest in this gathering at all, it was only because Nan Yanzhou was here.
Nan Yanzhou was sitting diagonally opposite him. He looked up and saw Su Shixiao looking at him. Nan Yanzhou curved his lips at him, as if in silent provocation.
Su Shixiao paused for a few seconds and shifted his gaze. He didn’t understand Nan Yanzhou’s meaning.
Soon, a staff member came in with the menu. “Hello, here is the menu. You can mark your choices directly on it.”
He placed the menu to Su Shixiao’s right. “Just call a waiter when you’ve finished ordering. There will be one waiting outside the door.”
The waiter left the room. Su Shixiao picked up the menu and unceremoniously began flipping through it, circling the dishes he wanted with a pen.
When he finished ordering and looked up, he saw several people staring at him. He asked, confused, “Why are you looking at me?”
He handed the menu to them. “Oh, sorry. I finished ordering. Here you go.”
After he spoke, he paid them no further attention.
The atmosphere was very awkward.
Su Shibei quickly broke the ice, “Second Brother, we’re going to the bar after we finish eating. Do you want to come?”
“No, I have things to do,” Su Shixiao said with a faint smile to his younger brother, who was inviting him to hang out for the first time.
He might have been eagerly anticipating his brother and younger brother inviting him to hang out years ago, but now he had no interest at all and didn’t want to hang out with them.
After years of anticipation, he suddenly felt very resistant to it now.
