I Fell In Love With My Rival (GL) - Chapter 22
After Su Chunyin said that, a noticeable silence filled the room.
She looked at Fu Erqiu expectantly, while Fu Erqiu lowered her head, seemingly deep in thought.
After a while, Fu Erqiu finally spoke. “Su Chunyin.”
She slowly lifted her eyelids and said, “Next question.”
Just like that, the matter was brushed aside.
Su Chunyin was momentarily dazed by her gaze and instinctively turned her attention to the next question. By the time she realized it, they were already deep into solving problems. Wait a minute—was Fu Erqiu seriously not even bothering to brush her off anymore? She was just… outright avoiding the question?
Naturally, Su Chunyin wasn’t about to let Fu Erqiu off the hook so easily. As Fu Erqiu began preparing for the next problem, Su Chunyin deliberately leaned closer and casually asked, “By the way, Qiuqiu-jie, have you ever dated anyone? Have you ever kissed someone?”
Fu Erqiu glanced at her but remained silent. As the silence stretched on, Su Chunyin herself began to feel awkward. According to Li Zihan’s intel, Fu Erqiu had neither dated nor kissed anyone before. If that were the case, wouldn’t she just say “no”? This silence—could it mean she had kissed someone?
A flood of possibilities raced through Su Chunyin’s mind. After all, in today’s world, even without dating, it’s entirely possible to have kissed someone, right?
If that was true, she should’ve been gleefully thinking about how Lu Fang would be heartbroken. But for some reason, an inexplicable sourness stirred in her own chest.
Fu Erqiu began explaining the next question, but Su Chunyin suddenly blocked her. She stopped the book with her hand and, without even thinking, blurted out, “Haha, I mean, it’s really not a big deal if you’ve kissed someone before. It’s not like people care about dating early anymore. If you have, just say it. I’m not going to…”
“Su Chunyin.” This time, Fu Erqiu called her name seriously.
She looked at the math textbook on the desk. They had barely gone over a few questions and had already been interrupted several times. “We’re here to study,” she said, repeating what she had said once before,
“Seriously.”
“Oh…” Su Chunyin lost her momentum and meekly withdrew her hand.
Because they had wasted quite a bit of time earlier, Fu Erqiu extended their study session by two extra hours. Only when they had covered all the scheduled material did she finally get up to leave.
By then, the sky had grown dark. Su Chunyin tried to keep her for dinner, but failed. She stood at the villa’s entrance, watching her go with longing eyes.
The streetlamps outside the villa weren’t like the dim ones near the Yuhua Police Station—they were bright, illuminating both their faces clearly. Fu Erqiu brushed back strands of hair blown loose by the wind and tucked them behind her ear, then turned to Su Chunyin. “Go back inside.”
“Okay,” Su Chunyin replied, reluctant to move. She continued staring. “Can you come earlier tomorrow?”
“Come earlier?” Fu Erqiu thought for a moment. “Sure. More time to study is always better, especially since you’re behind on so many basics.”
Su Chunyin shook her head like a rattle drum. “No, I mean… come earlier to hang out with me.”
“Hang out?” Fu Erqiu looked at her with surprise but didn’t respond with a yes or no.
The next day, true to her word, Fu Erqiu arrived early. She didn’t reject Su Chunyin’s invitation to play games and even said, “We can play, but I came an hour early today. Let’s spend half an hour gaming and use the other half to study.”
Su Chunyin pouted but agreed. “Fine. As long as you play with me… but no backing out!”
Of course, Fu Erqiu didn’t back out. But as she started downloading Galaxy OL, Su Chunyin was shocked. “Wait—you don’t know how to play games?”
Fu Erqiu nodded, unfazed. “I never had time before.”
Su Chunyin curled her lips. Of course she didn’t—Fu Erqiu’s free time was either spent working or on her way to work. Where would she find time to game?
That realization made Su Chunyin excited. Sure, Fu Erqiu was her tutor when it came to school, but in games? That might be her domain. Rubbing her hands eagerly, Su Chunyin said, “Come on, I’ll teach you! I’m the top player in Region 5, I’ll carry you like a boss!”
The first lesson began with character creation. Fu Erqiu chose an adult female avatar. As she customized her appearance, Su Chunyin wouldn’t stop talking—advising here, suggesting there. When they finally finished, Su Chunyin looked at the avatar and realized… it looked just like Fu Erqiu herself.
She suddenly felt a bit sheepish.
As expected, Fu Erqiu wasn’t good at gaming at all. She couldn’t manage any combos, didn’t even know how to tell direction in-game. Su Chunyin was so frustrated she called her an idiot. But by the second round,
Fu Erqiu was already getting the hang of things. Not only did she stop being a burden, but she started using the right skills at the right moments, helping Su Chunyin kill enemies.
By the third and fourth round, she got even better—smooth, efficient. That’s when Su Chunyin realized she wasn’t needed as a teacher anymore. Just as she started feeling the pressure, Fu Erqiu put her phone down. “Time’s up—half an hour.”
Time to study.
Su Chunyin let out a silent sigh of relief. If they had kept playing, her “Region 5 Queen” title might’ve been exposed as a lie.
That day, tutoring took a new form. Instead of just focusing on one subject, Fu Erqiu rotated through English, Math, and Physics. When Su Chunyin’s brain couldn’t absorb any more of one subject, they’d switch to another, leaving her no room to slack off. Knowledge was practically being hammered into her skull.
It was efficient—but to Su Chunyin, it was also pure torture.
To keep herself sane, Su Chunyin resorted to endless phone scrolling during breaks. In the middle of doomscrolling, she suddenly remembered yesterday’s awkward moment. On a whim, she reopened her browsing history to finish the video she hadn’t finished watching. But one wrong tap sent her to a suggestive ad page.
Glancing at Fu Erqiu—who was still buried in her book and hadn’t noticed—Su Chunyin breathed a sigh of relief and began reading the ad.
The video she had tried to watch was about girl-girl relationships. Naturally, the ad had caught on and recommended similar content. The headline was eye-catching: “Shocking! What Happens Between Girls Will
Blow Your Mind…”
What happens between girls? What will blow my mind?
Su Chunyin was incredibly curious. But the ad was just a teaser for some product and never got to the juicy part. Just as she was about to search it on Baidu herself, Fu Erqiu’s voice came from behind.
Her fingers froze—time for more tutoring.
Back in study mode, Su Chunyin was completely distracted, still thinking about that headline. The moment Fu Erqiu left, she rushed back to her room, locked the door, drew the curtains, and opened her browser.
She typed in words like “girls’ love” and “yuri.” The top results were definitions and some anime video compilations. Out of curiosity, she clicked one.
Right at the start, two long-haired female characters were kissing.
Su Chunyin choked violently.
A knock came from the door. “Miss Niaoniao, dinner is ready.”
Panicking like a thief, Su Chunyin stuffed her phone under her blanket and replied, “Not hungry! I’m skipping dinner tonight!”
When the footsteps outside faded, she pulled the phone out again.
The video montage continued with more yuri scenes. Not just innocent kisses, but deep, intimate moments that left Su Chunyin flushed, heart racing.
As she watched, Fu Erqiu’s face suddenly appeared in her mind—calm and elegant, her lips slightly parted as if leaning in for a kiss.
Another knock on the door—this time it was Xu Yuhui. “Niaoniao, the butler said you’re skipping dinner. Are you sick?”
Snapping out of her fantasy, Su Chunyin buried her head under the covers. “No, just not hungry.”
Xu Yuhui paused. “Skipping meals isn’t good for your health. I’ll leave the food outside. Come out and eat when you’re ready.”
Su Chunyin mumbled a vague reply. After Xu Yuhui left, she peeked out from the blanket.
What the heck was I just doing? Fantasizing about Fu Erqiu kissing me?!
And then her mind began to spiral—What would Fu Erqiu be like if she actually kissed someone? Would it be the way I imagined? And who would she kiss…?
…Could it be me?
The thought startled her. After a long pause, she resumed the video.
And one video turned into another.
The recommendations kept coming. The content got bolder. Eventually, one click led her to a site with, well, explicit material.
Boom. Her face went red from ear to ear.
That night, the whole Su household was asleep—except Su Chunyin, whose nightlight remained on. She lay flat on her bed, staring at the ceiling, cheeks flushed pink, her mind replaying everything she had just seen.
So… that’s what happens between girls?
Remembering the entangled bodies on screen, she blushed all over again. At first she had been shocked. But then came the curiosity—not just about girls’ love, but about the kind of world Fu Erqiu might see.
So… that’s what Fu Erqiu likes…?
That night, Su Chunyin hardly slept. She finally dozed off at dawn, but even then her dreams were restless—full of surreal, twisted imagery.
Sometimes, it was the scenes from those videos. Sometimes, she was caught watching them by Fu Erqiu. Other times, the two of them were pulled into the screen and became the characters themselves.
The next morning, Su Chunyin woke up completely drained. Two dark circles hung under her eyes and refused to fade.
That afternoon, when Fu Erqiu arrived for tutoring and placed her things on the table, she felt a piercing gaze from behind.
Turning around, she saw Su Chunyin slumped at her desk, staring at her with a mix of sorrow and longing.
Fu Erqiu: ?
Somewhere down the line, Fu Erqiu would find out everything:
So it’s my fault now?
