I Have been Reincarnated As a Lazy, Arrogant Noble, but When I Destroyed The Scenario Through Effort, I Became The Most Powerful With Extraordinary Magical Power - 14
014 – Entrance Exam
Finally, the day had arrived.
I’ve done everything I needed to do; now, all that’s left is to give it my all.
To unify my mind, I took a deep breath and closed my eyes.
The sound of carriages, the beating of my own heart, and the giggles and laughter of girls filled my ears.
“Cynthia, twin-tails look fabulous on you.”
“Oh, Lillith, then you should try a roll-up. It’ll accentuate your beautiful hair.”
The two of them, completely devoid of tension, seemed to relax my stiff body and mind.
“Don’t you both feel nervous? Nothing at all?”
“No. Thanks to training beside Weiss, I’ve come to terms with things.”
“What do you mean?”
“Those destined to pass will pass. So, I’m feeling calm about it.”
“Cynthia, I understand! I share the same view!”
I didn’t quite get it.
It sounded like they knew something, but it was still incomprehensible.
Oh well…
Unbeknownst to me, I found myself nervous about their newfound camaraderie.
After the misunderstanding incident, Lillith started making cryptic remarks.
“Looks like you’re sharing some secret moments together.”
“This is something I can’t tell Cynthia, right?”
And that was it.
Cynthia being my fiancée didn’t change. Well, if my father decided it, I couldn’t do anything about it.
She came from a prestigious family and had exceptional talent. Considering the Fancent family’s circumstances, there was nothing to complain about.
Though I was initially bewildered, Cynthia was beautiful, and watching her was captivating (in various senses).
If I passed, there might be no need to have a wedding during our school days; for now, I could just think of her as a good friend.
Changing the scenario was scary, but I convinced myself that having a strong ally was a good thing.
“Milch Sensei’s last words, what did they mean? Did you two understand?”
“We did, Weiss-sama. Please go easy on us, go easy!”
“Weiss, remember, you mustn’t kill.”
“I won’t kill anyone…”
“Weiss, don’t go overboard.”
That was Milch Sensei’s final message.
Sure, the magic I came up with might have been powerful, but my swordsmanship was still immature.
Currently, I could land about five hits out of ten against Milch Sensei, but the other examinees were likely to be talented individuals.
Holding back was not an option.
Besides, I was the villainous noble, Weiss Fancent.
Surely, the protagonist would be ridiculously strong.
…Still, I’m a bit excited about it.
Soon, the carriage came to a halt, and as I attempted to step outside, Zebis, who had been serving us, opened the door for me.
“Have a great time,” he said.
“Heh, thanks.”
That was so him.
Lillith and Cynthia followed after.
Before my eyes appeared a large iron gate, with bronze statues of dragons and tigers on either side, modeled after magical beasts.
“Hey, isn’t that Weiss Fancent?”
“The rumors… disgraced noble, right?”
“Don’t stare. The Ice Princess Cynthia is with him. Guess the engagement was real.”
Suddenly, I overheard hushed voices.
I hadn’t expected that news of my engagement was already known.
Well, I guess it doesn’t matter.
Most of the people here are probably failed applicants.
Just taking the entrance test would add to their reputation, so the place is always crowded.
…Let’s switch gears.
I am the villainous noble, Weiss Fancent.
“Lillith, Cynthia, we will definitely pass.”
“Yes!”
“Yes, sir.”
And so, we passed through the gate.
As we entered, many eyes were fixed on us.
It was probably because Lillith and Cynthia were holding onto my arms.
Even though I was already infamous, people must think I’m even worse now, coming with these beautiful girls to take the exam.
However, I really didn’t care.
“Hey, what are you staring at?”
At that moment, a voice reminiscent of a fight reached my ears.
It was a big guy, though he seemed to be my age, harassing a timid-looking boy.
What a time warp.
“I’m not staring… I just thought he was a big guy…”
“There! What did you say about being big!?”
I was glad I didn’t say anything… I thought about stepping in to help, but before I could, a petite girl with pink hair stepped forward, blocking the way.
Slim and stylish, she was the epitome of a beautiful girl.
I recognized her…
“Alan, why are you here? Are you getting involved with weird people again?”
“S-Sorry, Shari… I heard there’s a sage statue around here, so I wanted to see it.”
And the two of them started acting all lovey-dovey, ignoring the Yankee.
It seemed more like they were adding fuel to the fire.
Yeah, their faces were certainly flushed.
“Hey, do you know who I am?”
“I’m sorry! I apologize! Alan, you stand out, so please behave.”
“I’m more on the quiet side, though… Sorry, I was blocking the way.”
Their carefree apologies wouldn’t cut it.
Unable to control himself, the big guy raised his fist…
“What the…? Why can’t I move?”
“Cut it out. If you cause trouble before the exam, you might fail.”
I rushed and grabbed the guy’s right arm.
“Who the hell are you…? You’re Weiss Fancent… right? I-I apologize!”
It seemed he knew who I was. I didn’t want any trouble, so it worked out well.
To those around, it would appear like I was helping the two of them. Well, it was true to some extent.
“Sorry…”
“Just go away.”
The big guy kept bowing and finally left.
Seems like a bad reputation comes in handy at times.
“Thank you! I’m Alan! You’re… a good person!”
“My name is Weiss Fancent. He was just annoying.”
With beautiful black hair, a polite demeanor, and an unbroken flow of magic in his body.
The reason he only had one name was that he was a commoner.
Alan, he’s the protagonist of this story.
And next to him…
“Thank you so much! I’m Shari Elias. You’re here to take the exam too, right?”
“Yeah, that’s right.”
“Weiss, what’s going on?”
“Weiss-sama, the exam is starting!”
The two noticed my situation and ran over.
The protagonist wasn’t supposed to have an event with a Yankee, but maybe it changed because of me.
I didn’t help them out of goodwill. I didn’t want any fighting to ruin the test.
“Alan, we have something to do first! Let’s go!”
“Oh, right! Thanks, Weiss! See you later!”
Cheerful kids… Cynthia muttered.
I pondered.
Winning against the protagonist in the test was essential.
If I lost, my reputation would suffer, and it might lead to my downfall.
After that, I planned to be on good terms with him and keep my distance.
But today, just talking with Alan… I felt really uncomfortable for some reason.
My heart was unsettled.
I realized it during the practical exam; there was still some of Weiss left inside me.
There isn’t just one choice.
Aiming for the strongest and gaining recognition from the protagonist and those around me.
But there’s another…
Crushing everyone mercilessly and directly seeking to become the most sinister.
No one would dare oppose me, and I would subjugate them with overwhelming power.
…That’s also an option, isn’t it?
“Weiss-sama, you look happy.”
“Yeah, maybe I do. Let’s hurry, shall we?”
“Shari was cute, wasn’t she?”
“Shin, you can’t compete with her.”
“Oh, really? How flattering! Hehehe.”
Hey, Weiss… which one do you prefer?
