I Have been Reincarnated As a Lazy, Arrogant Noble, but When I Destroyed The Scenario Through Effort, I Became The Most Powerful With Extraordinary Magical Power - 70
070 – Bruno Adventurer Tournament
“—Is that all?”
My opponent in the first round was a woman named Sentinel.
I couldn’t tell her age, but she seemed to be in her twenties.
She was a user of fire magic, attacking with simple yet high-powered flames.
What was interesting was that the flames I dodged were still burning on the ground. And just at the very end, they came at me from all directions.
This was her ultimate magic, and it was a cleverly set trap.
“With this, you’re finished!”
Though she said that, I was already aware.
Flash Time-lapse Eyes are something special.
I can instantly determine if magic is flowing through or not.
But this technique is something I’ve never seen before in the academy.
Remote magic, quite interesting.
Let’s start with this one; I’ll use your technique.
And with a single blow, I knocked out Sentinel after she had exhausted all her abilities.
Naturally, there’s no training uniform in this tournament.
While it’s not against the rules to kill your opponent, the main goal is to increase the Fancent family’s recognition.
And to make the name of Weiss known even more.
Rather than desperately crushing them beyond necessity, wouldn’t it be more exciting for the spectators to see them overwhelmed by sheer power?
“The winner, competitor Weiss Fancent!”
Cheers erupted. Apparently, this woman, Sentinel, had won in another country before.
Though it wasn’t that big of a deal.
She would probably be considered an upper-middle-level student at the Noble Academy.
But there’s still much to learn from her.
There are distinct characteristics to how magic is used. Even with the same fire attribute, different people have different fighting styles.
By the end of this tournament, I’ll have grown stronger again.
In the next calamity, I won’t let a single demon escape.
Even without Eva or Milch Sensei, I’ll be able to overwhelm them on my own.
“Weiss-sama, you’re amazing as always! Your movements were incredible!”
“Well, yeah.”
“Weiss, you looked as handsome as ever. Oh, you have sweat dotting your forehead.”
“I haven’t… missed that.”
The venue is filled with adults, and the cheers are immense, but Cynthia and Lillith remain unchanged.
This place is divided into North and South sides; I’m on the North side while Sentinel came from the South.
It’s not a formal team division, but it’s an easy-to-understand separation.
“That guy’s got a really cute girl with him too.”
“Looks like he’s got the best of both worlds… No, is that enough?”
Well, I don’t particularly dislike praise from others.
At the very least, shower me with compliments.
The second and third rounds are for observing.
It seems that Sentinel from earlier was relatively skilled.
There’s no one really impressive.
Then again, magic has a lot to do with compatibility.
Simple differences in power aren’t everything; it’s hard to gauge just from that.
For instance, “Devi” or “Demon” is like that.
He has a unique magic that makes him invulnerable. He can defeat stronger opponents eventually.
Even Karta’s flight magic seems like cheating.
The outcome isn’t solely decided by raw magical power or level.
Sentinel from before might be more efficient at hunting monsters than me.
While I have multiple tasks at hand, I think about those things.
Just as before, the calamity will bring forth a swarm of monsters.
The next time, the demons will likely be more determined.
Yet, I don’t have a technique to exterminate a large number of monsters.
But that’s something I intended to find in this tournament, and I’ve found a good one for starters.
Magic is a world of imagination.
Understand the sigils with Flash Time-lapse Eyes and construct them yourself.
With effort, you can replicate them in the end.
Well, it’s impossible against weak opponents.
But it’s not all-powerful.
Just like in Tucker’s battle, the higher the magical ability, the harder it is to understand without being up close.
Whether I can steal techniques during the match is also a matter of luck.
However, it’s boring.
There really isn’t anyone impressive.
Upon closer inspection, strong opponents would eventually be encountered.
Should I conserve my energy until the next match?
“Cynthia, could you wake me up when my match starts? I didn’t get much sleep on the ship.”
I’m delicate. I regret not bringing my favorite pillow.
But Cynthia was looking into the distance. Lillith was too.
I noticed their gazes, then turned to look over there. Someone familiar was standing.
They seem to have noticed us. Or rather, were they watching my match?
“Why are those idiots…”
The guy opposite me was called, and the confrontation was swift.
His name is—
“The winner, Alan!”
He smiles as he laughs, sending a grin my way.
Duke and Shari were there too. But I guess they didn’t register for participation; they were observing like Cynthia and Lillith.
Entering the adventurer’s tournament can be a bit of a hassle for nobles.
Their families are prestigious, so they probably couldn’t get permission from their parents.
But for commoners, that’s not relevant.
Come to think of it, I haven’t seriously fought that guy since the entrance ceremony.
We only fought in the entrance exam.
He annoys me, but we teamed up more often than not.
…Perfect timing.
Alan, I’m going to crush you.
You’ve been behind me in rankings for a while, so you should want to win more than me.
But I won’t let that happen. In this tournament, I’ll make our hierarchy crystal clear.
