I Heard I’m a Scummy Alpha? [Transmigration] - Chapter 5
At the dinner table, Qi Yunwei sat properly, focusing on eating. Fainting from hunger was bad enough—what was worse was letting both sets of parents see her holding onto Yan Zui.
It was hard to explain, but thankfully Qi Jiusi had smoothed things over with a few words. Hopefully her future in-laws wouldn’t think she’d been too forward.
Thinking this, Qi Yunwei lifted her eyes slightly and glanced at Yan Zui beside her. She saw only two limp vegetable leaves in her bowl. Before her brain caught up, her hand had already switched to the serving chopsticks and placed a piece of braised pork into Yan Zui’s bowl.
“This is really good. You should try it.”
The parents, who had been eating and chatting on the opposite side, suddenly fell silent, all turning their gazes toward Qi Yunwei and Yan Zui.
Yan Zui’s cool eyes swept over, carrying a chill like icy mist that landed squarely on Qi Yunwei’s face.
“….” Only then did Qi Yunwei realize what she had just done.
Crap. How could she dare put braised pork in the female lead’s bowl!
Qi Yunwei shot her a meaningful look, silently pleading—five parents were staring.
Yan Zui seemed to pick up on her unspoken plea. Her expression remained composed as she lowered her gaze, lifted the braised pork with her chopsticks, and placed it into her mouth.
After chewing, she offered a calm verdict: “Not bad.”
Qi Yunwei let out a breath of relief. The five parents also withdrew their gazes and returned to their conversation.
Though she didn’t understand why Yan Zui was willing to play along, Qi Yunwei still felt deeply grateful for the gesture.

After dinner, everyone moved to the living room to continue chatting.
Qi Jiusi pulled Qi Yunwei and Yan Zhaoheran forward, smiling: “Chairman Yan, Madam, my niece is shy and gentle by nature. Once she marries into the Yan family, if she does anything wrong, please treat her as your own daughter.
Don’t hesitate to correct her.”
The “shy and gentle” Qi Yunwei: “……”
Wait—why was it her marrying into the Yan family?
It wasn’t the right moment to ask. So Qi Yunwei followed her lead, lowering her lashes with a bashful smile, pretending to be embarrassed.
With her tall but slender figure and short, neat hair, she actually did look a bit shy and demure in that moment.
When the parents were finally distracted, Qi Yunwei slipped back to her seat. She noticed Yan Zui sipping flower tea with her usual cool expression. Leaning closer, she whispered curiously, “Yan Zui, just now your parents said I’ll be marrying into your family. What did they mean by that?”
Yan Zui’s long lashes lifted slightly as she gave her a sharp, mocking look. “Didn’t you drug me just to force your way into the Yan family? Now that you’ve gotten your wish, you’re really asking me what it means?”
Marrying in?
Didn’t that mean that after the wedding, she’d have to live in the Yan household?
Qi Yunwei frowned slightly, face growing serious as if contemplating something monumental. Her pale lips were bitten until they turned white, then quickly flushed red again when she released them.
Yan Zui shifted her teacup away half a meter, but the moment she sat back down, Qi Yunwei scooted over again.
Qi Jiuyuan and Luo Yi caught sight of it from the corner of their eyes, their faces stiffening in embarrassment.
Qi Jiusi noticed too. Seeing Yan Zhao and He Ran glance over, she quickly chuckled, “Young couples in love can’t stand to be apart for even a minute. Forgive them, in-laws.”
Then she smoothly changed the subject.
Qi Yunwei, worried her words might be overheard, leaned close to Yan Zui’s ear and whispered, “If we live at your house after the wedding, we definitely won’t be able to sleep in separate rooms. That would break the contract. Do you think I can smuggle in another bed somehow?”
Yan Zui had been annoyed at her sudden closeness, warm breath brushing her ear. But once she heard what Yunwei actually said, she turned her head with a strange look.
Seeing the genuine concern in Qi Yunwei’s eyes, Yan Zui suddenly began to doubt her earlier conclusion.
Was it really Yunwei who drugged her?
Before meeting her, Yan Zui had already heard whispers of her name.
A useless Alpha who tried to claw her way into high society just by virtue of her gender—no talent, no looks, no prospects. She was everyone’s favorite joke.
Alphas without abilities weren’t common, but an Alpha who had dropped out of university due to too many failed courses and then spent two years loafing at home? Yan Zui had never heard of such a thing.
It was said that Qi Yunwei wasn’t even respected within her own family. Her parents avoided mentioning her, while her siblings openly showed disdain whenever her name came up.
Yan Zui couldn’t understand it. For an Alpha—someone meant to stand above others—how could she end up like this, and still talk so easily to her?
Yan Zui’s red lips pressed together. “Stay away from me,” she said coldly, refusing to engage further.
“Alright,” Qi Yunwei answered cheerfully, settling back without the least bit of embarrassment.
She knew her current identity was despised, yet she always forgot she’d transmigrated into this novel.
Meanwhile, the parents finalized the date for registering the marriage. Qi Jiuyuan and the others stood, ready to leave.
Qi Yunwei obediently followed them out. Yan Zhao and He Ran escorted them to the door, watching as the car pulled away before heading back inside.
Through the car window, Qi Yunwei noticed Yan Zui still standing outside, sunlight draping over her. Dark curls spilled over her shoulders, her exposed skin almost glowing. Her long lashes cast delicate shadows beneath her eyes, and her lips burned a vivid red.
She must want to talk to her.
Lowering the car window, Qi Yunwei held Yan Zui’s gaze across the distance for a few seconds. Sure enough, Yan Zui walked over.
She leaned down slightly, inky curls sliding forward to brush against Yunwei’s cheek.
A faint floral fragrance reached her nose—different from yesterday’s, though it still quickened her heartbeat. Yesterday’s had been stronger, more intoxicating.
Yan Zui’s dark eyes, tinged with blue, fixed on her. “Add me on WeChat.” She recited a string of numbers.
Then, with a polite nod to the others inside the car, she turned and left.

Back in the living room, Yan Zui paused when she saw her parents hadn’t gone upstairs.
The gentle smiles they had worn before the Qi family were gone. Yan Zhao’s expression hardened as he ordered, “Qi Yunwei seems acceptable enough. After the wedding, get pregnant as soon as possible. The Yan family needs an heir.”
Yan Zui’s hand tightened at her side, nails digging into her palm, leaving faint stings.
“Zui, your father is speaking to you. Don’t pretend you didn’t hear,” He Ran added softly, every word a velvet knife.
“I know.” Yan Zui’s lowered eyes flickered coldly.

Driving away from the Yan estate, Qi Jiuyuan steered onto the highway.
Qi Jiusi beamed at her niece. “Yan Zui actually asked to add your WeChat. If you work a little harder, she might even start liking you.”
Qi Yunwei had no idea how to respond, so she simply smiled.
She really needed to figure out what exactly “WeChat” was.
It sounded like some kind of communication tool.
From the passenger seat, Luo Yi let out a disdainful snort. “Sure—if it was an Omega as brainless as Qi Yunwei, then maybe.”
“Sister-in-law.” Qi Jiusi frowned.
Qi Yunwei quickly pulled her aside and changed the subject. “Little aunt, what exactly did you all discuss? I heard Yan Zui say I’m supposed to marry into the Yan family?”
Qi Jiusi nodded with a smile. “Looks like you finally got your wish.”
Qi Yunwei: “…”
So Yan Zui hadn’t lied—this was exactly what the original Yunwei had schemed for.
Qi Jiusi explained, “Chairman Yan said that he and his wife only have Yan Zui, an Omega daughter. Even though Yan Zui is very capable, there are many things inconvenient for an Omega—for example, going out to negotiate deals or attending business banquets. If the counterpart is an Alpha, it’s awkward even with bodyguards present. That’s why their long-standing plan has been to recruit a live-in Alpha son-in-law.
“Originally, they were worried because Yan Zui refused to meet any Alpha suitors they introduced. But yesterday she suddenly told them she already had a girlfriend—namely you. She praised you endlessly, and even said you were willing to marry into the Yan family. Chairman Yan and his wife were overjoyed. Naturally, they won’t make things difficult for you.”
“After all, most Alphas are talented and proud. They would never agree to marry into another family. Finding someone like you is like a pie falling from the sky—a great fortune for them.”
Qi Yunwei thought to herself: So even a scummy Alpha like the original me, as long as she can swallow her pride, could turn out to be a prize.
Back at the Qi household, Qi Jiuyuan and Luo Yi, exhausted, went upstairs to rest. Qi Yunwei sat leisurely on the sofa, sipping tea.
Qi Jiusi, however, remained preoccupied with her and Yan Zui, especially with the matter of them adding each other on WeChat.
Seeing Yunwei still drinking tea unhurriedly, she grew anxious. “Yunwei, where’s your phone? Hurry up and add Yan Zui on WeChat. What if you forget her number later?”
“Phone?” Yunwei guessed it must be similar to the light-brain device they used in her original world—just another communication tool.
She furrowed her brows in feigned thought. “Maybe it’s upstairs,” she said, rubbing her temple. “No, wait—I don’t remember exactly. I haven’t seen it since we came back from the banquet yesterday.”
Light-brains were always carried on the body, so phones here should be too. But ever since transmigrating into this book, she hadn’t noticed any such device nearby. Most likely, it was lost.
Qi Jiusi immediately pulled her to her feet. “How could you lose something that important? Come on, come on, I’ll take you to buy one. We’ll also get a new SIM card.”
Displeased with Yunwei’s slow, unbothered pace, she sent her to wait outside the villa while she dashed upstairs, grabbed Yunwei’s ID card from Luo Yi, and rushed back down.
Qi Jiusi drove her to the mall, bought her the latest H-brand phone, and then to a service center to get a new SIM card.
Once the phone was set up and the card activated, Qi Jiusi personally handled all the settings.
Yunwei watched every step carefully, memorizing as much as she could.
Finally, Jiusi logged into WeChat, handed her the phone, and fixed her with a burning gaze. “Hurry, add Yan Zui.”
Thankfully, the written language in this world wasn’t any different. Yunwei cautiously tapped the plus sign in the top right corner, selected “Add Contacts,” typed in the number Yan Zui had given her, searched, and sent the request.
For the moment, it was pending.
After about a minute, the request was accepted, and the screen jumped straight into their chat window.
“All done.” Yunwei shook the phone with a smile. “Now you can stop worrying, right, little aunt?”
Qi Jiusi nodded, satisfied. Leaning back against her chair, she let out a long breath. “Good. All my running around wasn’t in vain.”
Since they were already out, Qi Jiusi took Yunwei to buy a few sets of clothes in different styles. Afterwards, they had dinner before heading back.
During the meal, Yunwei snapped a few photos from just the right angle and sent them to Yan Zui.
Qi Yunwei: [Photo] [Photo] [Photo]
Yan Zui: ?
Qi Yunwei: Doesn’t it look delicious? It tastes just as good. I’ll take you to try it sometime.
Yan Zui: ?
And that was the end of the conversation.
When they returned home after dinner, the Qi family was still at the table.
A stranger sat among them. His looks surpassed everyone else in the Qi family—for now (though once she recovered her own, that might change). He wore silver-rimmed glasses, his features refined and handsome, his gentle gaze softened further by the lenses as it fell on Yunwei.
The man greeted them warmly. “Little aunt, Yunwei, you’re back.”
His voice was just as gentle as his appearance. Yet the moment Yunwei heard it, her body involuntarily trembled, as though responding to a fear etched deep into her very bones.
Surprised, Qi Jiusi asked, “Fanghuai, how do you even have time to come home? Weren’t you saying work was so busy you were sleeping at the office?”
At that name, Yunwei immediately recalled the fragments of memory she still had of the novel.
Qi Fanghuai—the very same, one of Yan Zui’s love interests.
