I Heard I’m a Scummy Alpha? [Transmigration] - Chapter 6
Qi Yunwei tossed and turned all night, drifting in and out of uneasy dreams, never once falling into real sleep.
When she came downstairs the next morning and caught sight of the culprit, Qi Fanghuai, her body still shivered instinctively. But perhaps her anger now outweighed her fear—because when she met his gentle smile, she couldn’t help glaring at him.
The dining room was empty except for the two of them. Qi Fanghuai’s gaze chilled as he rapped his knuckles twice against the table.
Each knock made Qi Yunwei’s body tremble, completely beyond her control.
“Yunwei, you should show your elder brother proper respect. Your behavior just now displeases me,” he said evenly, the calm tone suffocating the atmosphere.
Qi Yunwei: “…” You sick perverted freak, how dare you say you’re displeased?
The moment she thought of last night’s dream, nausea surged in her chest.
In the dream, Qi Fanghuai, in order to possess Yan Zui, pressured his younger sister—whom he’d manipulated and gaslit since childhood—into delivering Yan Zui to his bed. And not just that: he drugged her, locked her in a dark room, and indulged in every degrading game imaginable, all to make Yan Zui’s body and soul belong to him.
Qi Yunwei’s silence made Qi Fanghuai assume she was reflecting on her mistake. He sneered, “Qi Yunwei, an Alpha as worthless as you doesn’t deserve an Omega. Even if you drugged Yan Zui and got her, so what? I’ll be waiting to see if you even live long enough to enjoy it.”
His words made her stomach churn. “Shut up. If I’m worthless, then you’re trash.”
Qi Fanghuai’s expression froze. “What did you just say?”
Qi Yunwei didn’t give him any face. “I said you, Qi Fanghuai—not only are you trash, you’re deaf.”
Her eyes flicked to the half-bowl of porridge in front of him. Without hesitation, she picked it up and dumped it over his head. Then she let go. The bowl hit the floor with a sharp crack, shattering into pieces that scattered across the tiles.
“What’s going on? Did something break?” Luo Yi hurried out from her room. One glance at the dining room scene made her gasp. “Fanghuai! Qi Yunwei, how could you treat your brother like this?”
Luo Yi’s voice was sharp and shrill, stabbing at Qi Yunwei’s ears.
She calmly withdrew her hand, sat back down, and said mildly, “Mom, you misunderstood. I didn’t mean it. Big Brother asked me to feed him porridge. I didn’t hold the bowl properly, and it slipped—accidentally landed on his head.”
Qi Fanghuai couldn’t keep up his cultured façade in front of Luo Yi. Face dark as iron, he stood and stormed off without a word.
Unbothered, Qi Yunwei grabbed a warm custard bun and began eating leisurely.
Luo Yi was dumbstruck. “Qi Yunwei! You made your brother storm off, and you can still eat?”
Qi Yunwei looked up after some thought, eyes innocent. “I can.”
Luo Yi nearly fainted.
She had been perfectly normal just yesterday. How had she woken up like this?
But the suppressed fury burning in Qi Yunwei’s eyes made Luo Yi’s heart tremble. She was suddenly afraid of this version of her. Stiffly, she spat, “Just wait till your father comes home to deal with you,” before retreating.
Qi Yunwei finished the bun with grim determination, then left the mess behind and returned to her room on the third floor.
As she passed the second floor, Qi Fangyue had just stepped out of her bedroom. She was about to toss her usual mocking remarks, but one accidental glance into Qi Yunwei’s eyes made her heart skip a beat. Only after Qi Yunwei disappeared upstairs did she let out the breath she’d been holding.
Clutching her chest, Qi Fangyue snapped irritably, “Crazy woman! Daring to glare at me? Just wait until Big Brother and Dad teach you a lesson.”
Back in her room, Qi Yunwei picked up her phone from the nightstand. She opened WeChat and sent Yan Zui a message.
Qiyunwei: Sorry.
Yan Zui: ?
Qi Yunwei didn’t explain.
She wasn’t even sure herself why she apologized again. Maybe it was for the original owner’s past behavior, or maybe it was because she had once mistaken Yan Zui’s interactions with those Alphas for “romance.”
Her clash with Qi Fanghuai wasn’t impulsive. She would be leaving the Qi family soon anyway.
Perhaps she’d managed to truly anger him, because when she came down for lunch, Qi Fanghuai was gone—and he didn’t return that night either.
Luo Yi and Qi Fangyue gawked at Qi Yunwei as she ate comfortably, their identical looks of disbelief almost comical.
Luo Yi snapped, “Qi Yunwei, you still have the gall to come down and eat?”
Unruffled, Qi Yunwei replied, “As long as I have a mouth, I can eat. Doesn’t require ‘gall.’”
Luo Yi was left speechless.
No matter how “useless” she was, Qi Yunwei was still an Alpha. Luo Yi and Qi Fangyue didn’t dare do more than snipe with words. When they realized it had no effect, they dropped it, waiting instead for Qi Jiuyuan to come home and discipline her.
That evening, Qi Yunwei came down right on time for dinner.
She sat down directly in front of her favorite dish—unfortunately, it was also Qi Fangyue’s favorite. Qi Fangyue immediately scowled and tattled to her father, “Dad, Second Sister’s gone crazy! This morning she poured porridge all over Big Brother, at noon she mouthed off to Mom, and now she’s stealing my seat! Just because she’s marrying into the Yan family, she’s already this arrogant? Soon she won’t even listen to you. You have to rein her in!”
Qi Jiuyuan’s face darkened as he turned to Qi Yunwei. “Is what Yueyue said true?”
“Of course it’s true! Mom can testify!” Qi Fangyue added, pulling faces at Qi Yunwei from behind his shoulder.
Luo Yi sighed but said nothing.
As the head of the family, Qi Jiuyuan carried weight. His usual tactic was to fix Qi Yunwei with an oppressive stare until she grew nervous, then deliver his scolding.
Tonight was no different. He stared at her for a full minute. Silence filled the dining room, heavy and suffocating. Finally, satisfied she was under enough pressure, he began slowly, “Yunwei”
But he had barely said two words when Qi Yunwei suddenly tapped her phone twice. The device buzzed to life, ringing with a loud “doo-doo-doo.” After two tones, it switched to a low hum—buzz buzz.
Qi Yunwei held the phone up so the screen faced her father. “Dad, Yan Zui says hello.”
Yan Zui—Qi Jiuyuan’s direct superior.
At once, his authority crumbled like plaster peeling off a wall. His expression transformed into warmth as he spoke to the cold-faced Yan Zui on the screen: “President Yan, I’m doing very well. I never expected you to think of me.”
The moment he finished, Qi Yunwei pulled the phone back, cheerfully waving at the screen. “Yan Zui, have you eaten yet? Let me show you what we’re having for dinner.”
She proceeded to video chat with Yan Zui throughout the entire meal, introducing every dish as she ate. When she was full, she carried the phone upstairs to the third floor, leaving no chance for Qi Jiuyuan to scold her.
Once safely inside her room, she closed the door and exited the photo interface.
She hadn’t actually video-called Yan Zui at all. What Qi Jiuyuan saw was just a doctored photo of Yan Zui, and the sounds were pre-recorded.
Qi Yunwei quickly sent Yan Zui a thank-you message.
Qi Yunwei: Thanks, thanks! After we get our license, dinner’s on me.
After a while, Yan Zui replied.
Yan Zui: Don’t bother.
The words were cool, but she had still softened enough to help her.
How adorable.
