I Marked My Arch-Nemesis Omega - Chapter 14
Sheng Yu’s crying was silent, tears rolling down from the center of her eyes. She wept so cleanly, without disrupting the beauty of her face, making her appear exceptionally pitiful.
“Why is she crying?” someone whispered.
“Fu Lian, how could you bully someone?” a person sitting not far from Fu Lian said disapprovingly.
Fu Lian: ???
“No, I didn’t,” Fu Lian sighed. “How would I dare bully her?”
“Then why is she crying?”
“How should I know?”
Sheng Yu wiped her tears. “It has nothing to do with Fu Lian. It’s my own issue.”
After saying that, she immediately laid her head on the desk.
Others hesitated to approach her given her current state, though they wanted to. Soon, several lollipops were passed over.
“Fu Lian, as her deskmate, you should comfort her.”
Fu Lian: …
“Why don’t you come over and comfort her yourself?” Fu Lian retorted irritably.
“Aren’t we in class?”
A few more snacks were passed along.
Zhang Yunsu glanced back at Sheng Yu before turning away. Sheng Yu’s crying in class was prearranged—to create the illusion for a certain someone that she was isolated and emotionally shattered.
Though Sheng Yu had taken action, in most people’s subconscious, she still fit the image of someone delicate. And… Sheng Yu did cry often, her tears coming without warning.
“She cried in class?”
“Yeah.”
“She actually cried? Was her roommate that important to her?”
“Probably. After all, she only has a few close relationships in school, and now Liao Keke isn’t with her anymore either.”
“Did Jiang Di go to see her?”
“No. Jiang Di was probably just playing around. Don’t take it too seriously.”
“Hmph.”
…
Sheng Yu remained in a bad mood all day, and Fu Lian didn’t dare say much to her, offering only a few words of comfort.
“People need to look on the bright side. What hurdle can’t be overcome?”
Sheng Yu ignored him.
At lunchtime, Sheng Yu sat in her usual spot. She could keenly sense someone staring at her. Most people would glance at her briefly, but this person was different.
Sheng Yu scanned her surroundings before looking up toward the second floor.
By the railing on the second floor stood a person, hands resting on the railings, backlit so that Sheng Yu couldn’t clearly see their face. Still, she could tell they were beautiful—long, wavy, pale golden hair cascading down their back, their height roughly matching hers.
Sheng Yu thought of the Omega Song Qing had mentioned. She didn’t stare for too long. Whatever their deal was, eating was more important.
Back in the dorm that evening, Zhang Yunsu and the others said the person hadn’t given any further instructions.
“Was it because of the video I messed up yesterday?” Bai Ying frowned. “Did they realize we were acting?”
“Relax,” Sheng Yu leaned back in her chair. “Song Qing is checking the surveillance footage.”
Bai Ying paused, looking at Sheng Yu. “We won’t get punished, right?”
“No,” Sheng Yu said helplessly. “Don’t worry. Someone like this would be sent straight to juvenile detention if caught—they wouldn’t stay in school. And with Song Qing handling it, everyone can rest easy.”
“Since when did you and Song Qing get so close?” Zhang Yunsu asked curiously.
“It’s not about being nice, it’s purely because Song Qing’s position makes things convenient,” Sheng Yu said with a smile. “If I can cause trouble for her, I’ll keep doing it.”
Zhang Yunsu: …
The next morning, Sheng Yu went downstairs and saw Song Qing in their usual spot. The other girl was reading a book while holding a breakfast takeout bag.
“Good morning, President,” Sheng Yu said as she took the bag from Song Qing, smiling. “Thank you, President. You’re so kind—even though I keep causing trouble, you still bring me breakfast.”
Song Qing ignored her sarcasm. “I checked the surveillance footage. The person who spoke was indeed one of Wen Nian’s admirers, and the silent one was a Beta.”
“Oh, so they were just messing with us?” Sheng Yu immediately caught on. “Tsk. Though we can guess she was behind it, there’s no evidence, so we can’t do anything about it.”
“Mm,” Song Qing acknowledged.
“Isn’t this the same situation as before? President, you’re so capable—surely you have a way around this.”
“It’s not the same as your situation,” Song Qing replied, noticing the teasing glint in Sheng Yu’s eyes. “Someone has already stepped forward to claim responsibility for this. If I were to force them to name others when all the evidence and their own confession point to them alone, what would that look like?”
“Bullying with power,” Sheng Yu raised an eyebrow.
“Exactly.”
“But isn’t bullying with power the tradition of this school?”
Song Qing: …
Song Qing gave Sheng Yu a look, clearly not wanting to engage further.
“So we’re just letting this go?”
“Of course not. We’ll find another way,” Song Qing said.
“Tsk.”
“If you think I’m not up to it, you come up with a plan.”
“I think beating them up in a sack would work best,” Sheng Yu suggested.
“Assaulting an Omega is enough to get you sent to the mining planets for ten years,” Song Qing warned.
“Omegas are such a hassle.”
Song Qing paused for a couple of seconds. “True. Have you felt any signs of differentiation lately?”
“Nope,” Sheng Yu said. “What does it feel like to differentiate…?”
“Alpha and Omega reactions are more intense,” Song Qing explained. “When differentiating into an Alpha, you’ll immediately enter a rut, releasing pheromones that affect nearby Omegas. The higher the Alpha’s rank, the stronger the pheromone impact during differentiation, which can easily trigger a pheromone frenzy, causing Omegas to collectively enter heat. So it’s best to differentiate in a secluded place—otherwise, it’ll be a mess.”
“After differentiating into an Omega, you’ll also go straight into heat, so you’ll need to find a secluded spot. It’s best to have suppressants ready, as some Alphas are sensitive and can still sense it from a distance.” Song Qing glanced at Sheng Yu.
Sheng Yu frowned slightly. “Are suppressants harmful to the body?”
“High-grade ones are better,” Song Qing said. “Hospitals distribute free suppressants to Omegas every month. If you buy them yourself, they’re very expensive.”
“Oh,” Sheng Yu responded. “Whatever. It’s not like I’ll differentiate into an Omega anyway.”
Song Qing didn’t understand where Sheng Yu got such confidence.
“Plenty of people want to be Omegas.”
“However, I don’t want to,” Sheng Yu said nonchalantly. “If I wanted to remove my gland, I’d need proof of having two children first. Ridiculous.”
“True,” Song Qing took a deep breath. “We’re at the classroom. I’ll head off now.”
“Alright, see you,” Sheng Yu waved and glanced at Song Qing.
Upon reaching the third floor, Sheng Yu noticed a girl standing by the stairwell—the same blonde from before. She was indeed very pretty. The usually empty morning hallway was now crowded with people stealing glances in their direction.
“Sheng Yu.”
Sheng Yu tried to walk past her, but the girl stopped her.
“Yes?” Sheng Yu turned to look at her.
“Wen Nian,” the girl replied with a smile.
“Something you need?” Sheng Yu’s lips curled slightly, her smile just as bright.
Wen Nian leaned in close to Sheng Yu’s ear and whispered, “Angry?”
“I never waste anger on people shorter than me,” Sheng Yu replied, her smile unwavering. She noticed Wen Nian’s expression stiffen for a brief moment before chuckling. “Angry?”
“I have zero interest in Jiang Di, so you don’t need to fixate on me,” Sheng Yu said softly. “Song Qing is way better than Jiang Di—good-looking, principled, upright, and top of the class.”
“Keep your trash in the bin where it belongs, and don’t let it spill out, alright?” Sheng Yu’s gaze turned icy as she stared into Wen Nian’s eyes.
“Scary look, but it won’t work on me,” Wen Nian took a step back, putting distance between them. “After all, you can’t do anything to me. And honestly, I approached you because I find you interesting—nothing to do with him.”
“Whatever your reason, I stand by what I said,” Sheng Yu checked the time and walked away.
“See you next time.”
Sheng Yu ignored her.
“What did Wen Nian want with you?” Fu Lian asked curiously. He had also stepped out earlier to watch. While others admired the sight of two beauties standing together, he had a feeling they were seconds away from a fight.
“No idea. Boredom, probably,” Sheng Yu replied before flopping onto her desk.
Song Qing acted swiftly. By Friday, the two students involved had already been sent to juvenile detention, where they would remain for three years. Afterward, they’d be transferred to Kander for schooling. The consequences were severe, yet neither of them implicated Wen Nian, insisting it was entirely their own doing.
Their reasoning? They believed Sheng Yu had deliberately seduced Jiang Di, upsetting Wen Nian.
“Do people like this actually exist?” Sheng Yu asked, holding her tablet as she lounged on the couch, looking at Song Qing.
“Who knows.”
“Chasing after the person their crush likes just to eliminate a rival? What kind of twisted dedication is that?”
“Are you doing tongue twisters now?” Song Qing didn’t even look up.
Truthfully, Sheng Yu suspected she could dig up Wen Nian’s chat logs with those two on their tablets. But she knew if she tried, Song Qing would probably send her straight to juvenile detention herself.
“When are you planning to leave?” Song Qing asked.
“Wen Nian came to see me today,” Sheng Yu took a sip of coffee. She had to admit, Song Qing’s assistant brewed an excellent cup.
“I know.”
“Shockingly, I didn’t make her cry,” Sheng Yu mused.
Song Qing: “…”
Sheng Yu finished her coffee and set the cup on the table: “President, see you on Monday then.”
“Mm.”
After stepping out the door, Sheng Yu hesitated for a moment before sending a message to someone on her contact list.
??: Hello, I’d like to purchase five high-grade suppressants.
Even though she still didn’t believe she would present as an Omega, it was better to be safe than sorry.
00: 500,000 star credits.
??: That expensive?
00: High-grade suppressants are hard to obtain privately. They’re usually imperial-grade supplies, so the price is naturally steep.
??: Fine.
