I Marked My Arch-Nemesis Omega - Chapter 23
Yin Sheng felt the pain and tried to pull her hand away, but found herself completely immobilized. She stared at Sheng Yu in shock, only to see the latter carefully reach into her pocket with her left hand and pull out a small kitten.
“You guys actually keep a cat in school!”
“The school rules don’t say student council members can’t raise cats,” Sheng Yu replied, twisting her right hand and forcing Yin Sheng to turn around, leaving her standing in an awkward position. Yin Sheng continued to struggle, even using her other hand, but Sheng Yu’s grip seemed glued to her wrist.
Sheng Yu bent down and placed the cat on the ground. “Go on, get out of here.”
The kitten, as if understanding, scampered away and stopped at a distance to watch the scene unfold.
“Sheng Yu, let go of me!”
“You were the one who tried to start something first,” Sheng Yu said with a smirk. “Do you have any idea how long I’ve wanted to beat you up?”
“Sheng Yu!” Yin Sheng shouted again, this time as a warning.
“Look at you. How dare you mock Song Qing when you can’t even take on someone who hasn’t even differentiated yet?” Sheng Yu threw Yin Sheng to the ground, pinning her down with a hand around her neck. She watched as Yin Sheng’s eyes rolled back twice before finally releasing her grip.
Leaning in close to Yin Sheng’s face, Sheng Yu lowered her voice and taunted mockingly, “You’re so weak. Are you the worst in your class? Probably not, right? But with skills like these…”
“People online say the Alphas at our school are useless. If they’re all like you, then I guess they’re not wrong.” Sheng Yu pressed her knee into Yin Sheng’s stomach, patted her cheek, and laughed.
The top floor was empty, making Sheng Yu’s laughter echo eerily. She realized she really did enjoy fighting Alphas—they had good stamina, recovered quickly, and were usually too proud to talk about it.
“Having fun spreading rumors?” Sheng Yu chuckled, raising her hand to slap Yin Sheng’s face again.
They say you shouldn’t hit someone in the face, but Sheng Yu didn’t care. She never considered herself part of the “well-behaved, rule-following” crowd. In public, she had to maintain her image and settle for a couple of punches to the face, but with no one around now, she didn’t have to hold back.
“Are you about to cry?” Sheng Yu stared into Yin Sheng’s eyes. “No way, no way, are you really going to cry? I haven’t even finished venting yet. Weren’t you just trying to take your anger out on me too?”
“Go on, keep going.”
Yin Sheng trembled slightly, glaring at Sheng Yu. “You psycho! Lunatic! Let me go! Do you have any idea—do you have any idea what my dad could do to you? He could have you killed!”
“Are you suggesting I should just finish you off here so you can’t go running to Daddy?” Sheng Yu blinked innocently, as if genuinely asking a question.
“Do you really think I’m scared?” Sheng Yu asked again, letting out a soft laugh as she patted Yin Sheng’s cheek.
One side of Yin Sheng’s face was swollen, while the other remained untouched, making her look bizarre and terrifying.
“Lunatic…” Yin Sheng muttered, trying to squirm away from Sheng Yu’s unsettling gaze but failing.
“Remember this next time you think about messing with me. I get tired too,” Sheng Yu said sweetly. “But feel free to keep trying. Otherwise, school would be so boring.”
Sheng Yu’s fingers trailed across Yin Sheng’s neck: “Your neck is so beautiful too… Don’t you wonder what it looks like inside?”
Watching Yin Sheng tremble, Sheng Yu smiled even more brightly. Was she really this timid?
Sheng Yu stood up and released Yin Sheng. “If you want to talk, then talk. After all, getting beaten up like this by me only humiliates you. And with the surveillance footage showing I acted in self-defense—that you tried to steal from me—I probably won’t face any consequences.”
“Pisses you off, doesn’t it?” Sheng Yu leaned in close to Yin Sheng, who was trying to get up, causing her to fall back onto the floor in fright. “Yin Sheng, are you really this much of a coward?”
Yin Sheng took a deep breath, shoved Sheng Yu away, and scrambled to her feet. Though limping, she moved surprisingly fast.
Right now, all she wanted was to get downstairs.
Sheng Yu watched her retreating figure as a kitten came scampering eagerly toward her.
“Aren’t you afraid of me?” Sheng Yu asked the kitten.
The kitten wagged its tail and pawed at Sheng Yu’s pants.
Sheng Yu chuckled.
Not long after leaving the student council building, Yin Sheng ran into Song Qing. The two exchanged a glance, but Yin Sheng covered her face with her clothes and hurried away without a word.
Song Qing found it odd but didn’t comment—after all, she and Yin Sheng weren’t close and had their own conflicts. Song Qing returned to the student council building and ran into Sheng Yu descending the stairs at the second-floor landing.
“Was Yin Sheng here?” This area was student council territory.
“Yeah,” Sheng Yu replied.
“Did something happen?”
“Nope. Anyway, I’m heading home. I’m hungry.” Sheng Yu sidestepped Song Qing and continued downstairs.
Song Qing frowned as she watched Sheng Yu leave.
Later, she reviewed the surveillance footage. The recording only showed the two talking—everything appeared perfectly normal. But that normality was the most abnormal part. No doubt, Sheng Yu had tampered with the footage.
Leaning back in her chair, Song Qing gazed at the empty glass room in the distance. The office felt unusually quiet without the cat, even though the little creature had always ignored her.
She had tried hard to overlook the strange things about Sheng Yu, but eventually, the questions resurfaced.
Who had taught Sheng Yu all these skills?
Back at home, Sheng Yu fine-tuned the surveillance footage. The earlier version had been rushed and sloppy—anyone paying attention would’ve spotted the inconsistencies. After polishing the recording, she took a shower and lay down on her bed.
The kitten circled the floor, occasionally meowing at her.
Sheng Yu glanced at it. “Didn’t I already feed you? And the litter box was just changed.”
The kitten kept meowing, growing louder.
Sheng Yu got up and checked the next room. The food bowl was still full, untouched.
“Not hungry?” The kitten rubbed against her foot.
Sheng Yu exhaled sharply. She couldn’t help but wonder what Song Qing had been feeding this cat.
“Did you get spoiled by the president’s gourmet treats?”
The kitten looked up at her with pleading eyes.
“Well, too bad. You’re stuck here now. You’ll have to get used to it.”
The kitten meowed again.
Annoyed, Sheng Yu pulled out her communicator and messaged Song Qing. She had just brushed her off earlier—why was she reaching out now?
Sheng Yu: President, what does the cat usually eat at your place?
Song Qing looked at the message from Sheng Yu, sensing the irritation and bad mood between the lines. She found the cat food, took a photo, and sent it to Sheng Yu.
Sheng Yu searched it up and was stunned by the price. What kind of golden cat food costs 5,000 yuan a bag? She didn’t even spend 5,000 yuan a month on food at school!
Sheng Yu: ???
Sheng Yu: You eat energy bars for lunch, but you feed the cat this?
Song Qing: I eat energy bars because I don’t feel like eating, not because I can’t afford food.
Song Qing: Besides, the best is never wrong. Is it refusing to eat anything else? There aren’t any addictive substances in this food, are there?
Sheng Yu: If you fed me gourmet food every day, I wouldn’t want to eat scraps either!
Song Qing: …
Song Qing: My apologies.
Sheng Yu: So how much did you spend?
Song Qing: …
The kitten tugged at Sheng Yu’s pant leg—it was still hungry, and here she was chatting with someone else! How outrageous.
Sheng Yu transferred 100,000 yuan to Song Qing, who promptly returned it.
Song Qing: I don’t need the money. Just give me your address, and I’ll deliver the food. This brand usually only operates during the day and doesn’t offer delivery.
Sheng Yu was once again both amused and exasperated by Song Qing.
Sheng Yu: Are you still at the office?
Song Qing: Yes.
Sheng Yu: Take a look at the time. Are you sure you want to come over now?
Song Qing: That’s all the more reason to go. It must be starving.
Sheng Yu sent her address and looked down at the kitten. “Suddenly, I feel like abandoning you.”
Kitten: !!!
The kitten quickly ran to its food bowl, took a bite, then immediately spat it out, its little face scrunching up in clear distress.
Sheng Yu: …
“Stop eating. She’s coming to bring you food. If you didn’t want to eat this, you should’ve come to me sooner… letting you sleep until now.” Sheng Yu poked the kitten’s head.
After a moment’s thought, Sheng Yu got ready and headed out. As soon as she reached the gate of her complex, she saw Song Qing already standing there, seemingly checking the address.
“That fast?”
“I took a skycar,” Song Qing said. Sheng Yu was still in her pajamas, looking even more laid-back than usual.
“Let’s go.” Sheng Yu stuffed her hands into her pockets but didn’t move. After a few seconds, she added, “You can stay the night and leave tomorrow. It’s already late.”
Song Qing hesitated.
“If you don’t want to stay, then leave now.” Sheng Yu’s expression darkened. “So I’m less trustworthy than a skycar driver now.”
Song Qing: …
Song Qing gave her a puzzled look. “Could you stop overthinking things? I’m just considering it because I haven’t showered yet.”
“I have spare towels, disposable underwear, and clean pajamas at home. Oh, the pajamas have been worn by me—would you mind? Never mind, just go. The young miss would definitely mind.”
Song Qing: …
Sheng Yu reached for the bag in Song Qing’s hand, but Song Qing dodged and lightly smacked her head.
“What was that for?!” Sheng Yu covered her head, glaring at Song Qing.
“I told you, stop overthinking. Let’s go.” Song Qing pressed her lips together. “Lead the way.”
Sheng Yu took a deep breath.
The two shadows stretched long on the ground as Song Qing followed half a step behind Sheng Yu.
“She must be starving,” Song Qing remarked.
“She’s been sleeping the whole time since we got back, and when she woke up, she found the food unpalatable.” Sheng Yu, however, didn’t think the cat was that picky.
Song Qing said, “I’m sorry, I shouldn’t have bought such expensive food. I can cover the cost of her meals from now on.”
“No need. I’ve already placed an order,” Sheng Yu replied, then added after a pause, “Don’t feel bad. You meant well.”
Song Qing glanced at Sheng Yu’s stubborn profile.
They entered the house, and the kitten immediately came forward but took two steps back upon seeing Song Qing.
Handing the bag to Sheng Yu, Song Qing sighed as she watched the kitten scamper after Sheng Yu. She changed her shoes.
“She bought you so many things, and you’re still scared of her?” Sheng Yu poured out the old food and replaced it with the new one. The kitten eagerly approached and began eating happily.
Honestly, Song Qing couldn’t tell the difference between the two types of food. She leaned in to sniff the bag but still couldn’t detect anything.
Setting the food aside, Sheng Yu stepped out.
Song Qing sat on the sofa, her back straight.
“I’ll get your clothes. You can go take a shower.”
“Where will I sleep tonight?” Song Qing asked.
“With me. Any problem? You’re an Alpha, and I haven’t even presented yet,” Sheng Yu looked at Song Qing.
“No problem,” Song Qing replied. She wanted to ask if Sheng Yu was a restless sleeper but decided against it. Asking would surely make Sheng Yu think she was being disliked.
Sheng Yu’s pajamas were all in a cute style, matching her outward appearance. However, with a 10 cm height difference, the pants and top were slightly short on Song Qing, making her look a bit awkward.
Song Qing returned Sheng Yu’s disposable underwear, her ears slightly red. “Sorry, I checked… I probably wouldn’t fit, so I didn’t change.”
Sheng Yu: …
“Oh,” Sheng Yu glanced over. “I didn’t think it through.”
“You can go to bed first.”
“What about you?”
“I’ll watch a movie for a bit.” Sheng Yu sat down on the floor.
Song Qing stood nearby for a moment before sitting down beside Sheng Yu. “Why not watch from the sofa? Why sit on the floor?”
“Doesn’t feel the same.” Sheng Yu pulled two drinks from under the coffee table, opened one, and handed it to Song Qing. “Alphas can drink this too.”
