I Marked My Arch-Nemesis Omega - Chapter 30
Students from other schools arrived one after another—five schools in total, all prestigious aristocratic high schools within the empire.
Sheng Yu stood in formation with her group as the homeroom teachers took attendance and organized the students for security checks.
Originally, the first school to undergo security checks should have been No. 13 High School. However, Haoyun No. 13 High School directly brought a whole squad forward, their lines stretching endlessly, one after another.
“This is too much!”
“Weren’t we supposed to go first?”
“Song Qing? Aren’t you going to do something?”
“Probably because of what happened in the last competition, sigh…”
“Alright, stop talking. Do you want to get beaten up by Song Qing?”
…
Song Qing stood expressionless at the front of the line. After Haoyun No. 13 High School finished their security checks, she led her group forward.
The leader of Haoyun No. 13 High School was that S-rank. When he saw Song Qing approaching, he smirked, but Song Qing didn’t spare him a single glance.
“Why is that S-rank looking at Song Qing?” Bai Ying had been watching the S-rank the whole time.
Sheng Yu asked, “Does that S-rank not have a name? Why do you always just call him ‘S-rank’?”
“Isn’t he the only S-rank this time?” Bai Ying blinked.
“This is the Cangling Base. If you keep saying that inside, aren’t you afraid you might run into another S-rank?” Sheng Yu raised an eyebrow.
Bai Ying: “…”
“True,” Bai Ying rubbed her chin. “Damn, I can’t remember what that guy’s name is. We’ve just been calling him ‘S-rank’ all the time.”
After the security checks, they still had to wait for a long time. They had thought they’d see the base right after the checks, but there was another layer of protective shielding. The interior remained invisible—the distance between the security checkpoint and the inner shield was nearly a kilometer.
Once everyone had gathered in the open area outside the inner shield, a man slowly rose into the air on a small hovercraft.
“Hello everyone, I am your chief training officer for this session, Sun Yu,” Sun Yu said, hands clasped behind his back as he scanned the crowd.
“I heard Officer Sun Yu’s pheromones smell like braised pork,” Bai Ying whispered, only for Sun Yu to immediately glance in her direction.
“I hope some people will refrain from whispering among themselves. On the training grounds, any untimely remarks will be heard by me.”
Bai Ying stiffened, immediately straightening her posture and falling silent.
“In any training zone, all your actions must be reported in advance. After returning to the dormitory, you may only move within the dormitory area and are not permitted to go elsewhere without authorization,” Sun Yu continued.
“The base regulations have been posted on the walls of your dormitories, detailing the specific precautions and disciplinary measures. This morning, you will organize your living quarters.”
“Dormitories are shared by four people. Alphas and Betas from the same school will be mixed together. Those showing no signs of differentiation will be assigned based on their initial gender, while those showing signs will be grouped with Alphas and Betas. There is no guarantee that students from the same school will be on the same floor. Lunch is at 11:30, followed by rest in the dormitories. Notifications will be given in the afternoon for assembly at the training grounds.”
The crowd erupted in murmurs.
“If in the future you’re on the frontlines, it’ll be common for Betas and Alphas to bunk together. Who’d have the time to assign so many gender-segregated tents? Sometimes, during hostage rescues out in the field, you might even have to share quarters with Omegas. What will you do then? If you’re caught swapping dorms on your own, it’ll be a major demerit.”
Sheng Yu frowned slightly. These were clearly frontline requirements. Imposing them now seemed overly hasty.
“Alright, now follow the instructors to the dormitory area. Check the robots at the entrance for specific arrangements. All the necessities for this week have already been placed in your rooms.”
The dormitory area was inside the inner protective shield—vast and seemingly endless. The buildings weren’t very tall, and judging by the descriptions outside each one, most were likely underground structures.
Outside the dorms were countless robots, many of which clearly weren’t service-oriented, probably temporarily reassigned for overtime. All you had to do was stand in front of one, extend your hand, and it would imprint your dorm building and room number on the back of your hand.
Sheng Yu was assigned to Room 307 in Building 4.
When she entered the dorm and saw the person inside, she raised an eyebrow and smirked. “What a coincidence, President.”
Song Qing: “…”
The dorm had bunk beds with desks underneath—nothing too shabby. Both Song Qing and Sheng Yu’s beds were on the right side.
“President, what’s with that expression? Not happy to be rooming with me?” Sheng Yu’s smile faded.
“Of course not.” Song Qing was just worried Sheng Yu might unconsciously emit pheromones again. She’d been thinking about Sheng Yu’s differentiation issue since arriving but hadn’t found the right moment to ask. “When do you think you’ll differentiate?”
“No idea.”
Song Qing: “???”
“Then you—”
Sheng Yu glanced at her and shut down further questions. “Let’s just unpack.”
Song Qing wanted to press further, but two more people entered, cutting her off.
Coincidentally, one was Bai Ying, and the other was Meng Yu from Class 1.
“Out of all the Alphas in school, our dorm got two of them,” Bai Ying couldn’t help but remark. “I was terrified when I got caught speaking earlier… Is there something installed on the floor or what?”
“Probably,” Sheng Yu nodded.
“When I came over, I saw Qi Liao staying across from us,” Meng Yu said, looking at Song Qing.
Sheng Yu glanced at Meng Yu. “Qi Liao?”
“Yeah,” Meng Yu nodded. “The only S-rank this time.”
“So what if he’s there? Is he gonna barge in and attack us?” Sheng Yu also shot a look at Song Qing before turning her attention to the supplies prepared by the base—three identical sets of clothes for rotation, each bearing the Thirteenth High School emblem, though the design was still hideous. Whoever designed them had questionable taste.
Meng Yu glanced at Sheng Yu, and seeing Song Qing stay silent, she quietly started unpacking too.
The dorm fell into silence.
“What about your cat while you’re here?” Song Qing suddenly asked.
Sheng Yu narrowed her eyes at her. “President, don’t get any funny ideas about my cat.”
“I was just concerned—”
“She’s cunning. She’ll be fine. Besides, 827 is the best domestic robot on the market. I trust her.” Sheng Yu stuffed everything into the closet, made her bed, and called it done. “Wonder what’s for lunch.”
“It shouldn’t be too bad,” Bai Ying said hesitantly. “After all, this place looks really wealthy. Just now, there were so many robots, each costing fifty million to build.”
“That expensive?”
“Yeah, because those are combat robots. But they’re not fully developed yet, so they’re usually kept in the base for defense and patrol,” Meng Yu explained.
Sheng Yu nodded, pulled out a chair, and sat down, watching as Song Qing took out the clothes, shook them, and hung them neatly in the closet.
“Will we have to wear these clothes this afternoon?” Song Qing asked, eyeing the outfits in the closet. “I’m going to change in the bathroom.”
“Since when are you so particular?” Sheng Yu propped her chin on her hand.
Song Qing ignored her. When she came out after changing, she saw Sheng Yu casually lift her shirt, revealing a slender yet powerful waist—pale as snow—before quickly covering it with the black uniform.
“President, stop staring,” Sheng Yu said, patting her clothes down with a teasing smirk.
Song Qing clenched the clothes in her hands. “I saw you the moment I stepped out. It’s not my fault.”
“Oh, really? It’s fine if you look,” Sheng Yu chuckled. “Let’s go eat.”
Song Qing gave up arguing. “Yeah.”
The four of them walked out together. As soon as the door opened, Sheng Yu spotted someone standing across the hallway—Qi Liao. Honestly, it took her a moment to recall his name.
“Song Qing,” Qi Liao stared at her, curling his lips. “You disappointed me last time. Don’t let me down again.”
“How long have you been standing there?” Sheng Yu asked casually.
“Who are you?” Qi Liao was visibly annoyed at being interrupted.
“Just a spectator.”
Bai Ying tugged at Sheng Yu’s arm.
Qi Liao narrowed his eyes and stepped closer to Sheng Yu, looking down at her with a sneer. “Where’d this little shrimp come from?”
Sheng Yu took a deep breath, anger flaring up inside her.
Qi Liao stood at around 190 cm, towering over Sheng Yu by a full 30 cm. The intimidation was real, and while others might have been cowed, Sheng Yu just wanted to punch him in the face.
“Want to hit me? Need me to bend down for you?” Qi Liao taunted, leaning forward. “Oh, wait—aren’t you the one who sued Yin Sheng?”
Song Qing pulled Sheng Yu behind her. She’d dealt with people like him before and knew ignoring them was the best approach—engaging only fed their ego. “Let’s go eat.”
“Song Qing, are you scared? Running away so fast?”
“Shouldn’t you be the scared one? Afraid Song Qing would ignore you, so you waited by our door—who knows how long you stood there.” Sheng Yu turned back, smiling sweetly.
Qi Liao’s face darkened. The imposing aura he’d worked so hard to maintain instantly crumbled. By now, it was almost 11:30, and the hallway was crowded with people, all watching the scene unfold.
Bai Ying realized one thing: Sheng Yu truly had no fear of consequences. Meanwhile, Fu Lian from next door stepped out just in time to witness the tense standoff. He decided then and there that he’d definitely be requesting a room change later.
“All bark and no bite. A City’s Thirteenth High—last time, not a single one of you lasted till the final day, right?” Qi Liao crossed his arms, leaning against the wall. The students from Thirteenth High glared at him, fists clenched, some Alphas already itching to step forward.
The hallway was quiet. Qi Liao laughed again, “Why are you all staring at me like that? If you’ve got the guts, come up and hit me. Bunch of cowards.”
“Instructor, I want to report him for provoking trouble! He’s violated Rule 17 of the base regulations.” Sheng Yu raised her hand, looking at the instructor who had just arrived on the third floor. Her expression was resolute, her seemingly harmless face twisting into an angry yet non-threatening look.
She pointed at Qi Liao and declared righteously, “Qi Liao has repeatedly mocked our No. 13 High School with his words, then dared us to hit him. I think his attitude toward potential future comrades-in-arms is completely unacceptable. It’s detrimental to future development and team cohesion.”
Instructor: “…”
Qi Liao: “???”
“Are you out of your mind?” Qi Liao glared at Sheng Yu, finally understanding why Yin Sheng had been bested by her. This girl simply didn’t play by the rules.
“Instructor, look at him! He dares to act like this even in your presence. Clearly, he has no respect for you,” Sheng Yu continued without even glancing at Qi Liao. “According to regulations, he should be punished with a 10-kilometer run. And since we just arrived here and he’s already breaking the rules, it shows utter disregard for the base’s regulations. Shouldn’t we make an example of him by doubling the punishment?”
“I’m sure a 20-kilometer run is nothing for an S-rank Alpha,” Sheng Yu finished, finally meeting Qi Liao’s gaze with a slight smirk.
