I Marked My Arch-Nemesis Omega - Chapter 47
Sheng Yu widened her eyes as she looked at Song Qing. The person delivering the items also froze for a moment but didn’t leave, simply staring at Sheng Yu. Song Qing turned her gaze toward Sheng Yu as well.
“I think I can finish this plate, but you don’t need to send any more after this. Thank you.” Sheng Yu felt like Song Qing’s gaze was a little too intense, but she held it steadily and smiled at her, taking the plate.
After the person left, Sheng Yu glanced at Song Qing but didn’t say anything. She looked down at the plate in front of her, wondering if it would be enough.
“If it’s not enough, you can go grill more.”
“You’ll grill it for me?”
“Mm.”
Sheng Yu chuckled. “Then I won’t worry.”
Song Qing still didn’t eat much. “Did you always eat this much before differentiation?”
“Mm…” Sheng Yu responded. “I’ve always had a big appetite. Do you think I eat too much?”
“Being able to eat is a blessing.” Song Qing leaned back in her chair. “It’s a good thing.”
Sheng Yu: “…”
Sheng Yu finished everything in front of her. Truthfully, she was already full, but she still had Song Qing grill another skewer of meat for her—otherwise, it felt like a waste.
In fact, looking around the entire gathering, Sheng Yu had eaten the most. Everyone else was mostly chatting and playing, while she had been focused solely on eating.
After eating, everyone rested for a while before heading upstairs together to play games.
Sheng Yu and Song Qing sat in adjacent seats, put on their gear, and entered the game simultaneously once everyone was ready.
Roles were assigned randomly. Sheng Yu looked at her identity card and raised an eyebrow—she was on the ghost faction.
She then glanced at her character’s backstory.

Sheng Yu glanced at her teammates—great, not a single one was familiar.
Once everyone confirmed, they entered the scenario.
“Holy sh1t, this is so realistic.”
“When I have money, I’m buying equipment like this too.”
“This is insane…”
Sheng Yu stood behind a tree, observing the group of people not far away. She quickly counted—only eight were present. Clearly, the good players had split into different adventurer teams. Among them, she spotted Song Qing.
After a few seconds of thought, she waited another two minutes before stepping out from behind the tree. “President!”
The people still surveying their surroundings jumped in alarm. “Stay right there! Don’t move!”
“What’s wrong…?”
“Why did you come from over there? According to typical plotlines, anyone who suddenly appears out of nowhere is usually not a good person.”
Sheng Yu sighed helplessly. “How are we supposed to stay immersed in the game if you’re like this? And I really am a good person. After landing, I separated from the others over there and wanted to find Song Qing… Who knew I’d get lost immediately?”
“As soon as I heard your voices, I came right out… I thought I’d found the main group and could finally get some warmth from my companions.” Sheng Yu pouted pitifully. “Who doesn’t know that someone popping up suddenly is suspicious… If it were really like that, it’d be way too cliché.” Yes, exactly that cliché.
The person hesitated for a couple of seconds, clearly conflicted.
“Besides, our destination is the same—that castle up ahead… You can even let me follow behind if you want. I’m genuinely scared being alone here. This place is so creepy.”
“Come on, it’s just the beginning. No need to be like this. Let her tag along.”
“Right, I think she makes sense. I always thought the ghost would most likely be hiding among us from the start.”
…
Once one person spoke up, the others gradually voiced their agreement.
The area was indeed eerie, and seeing Sheng Yu’s pitiful expression, everyone felt it wouldn’t be right to just leave her behind.
Once Sheng Yu joined the group, she immediately sought out Song Qing and clung to her side, taking the act of “being scared” to the extreme.
“Are you really that scared?”
Sheng Yu nodded gravely. “I don’t really like… these kinds of forest settings. I thought we’d spawn directly inside the castle.”
As she spoke, she latched onto Song Qing’s arm.
After walking for about five minutes, they reached the castle. The others had already gathered inside.
Sheng Yu glanced around. Her ghost teammates—Jiang Yi had infiltrated the adventurers’ group from the start, Xu Er was a hired servant of the castle, Wang San was the castle’s butler, and Liu Si was a guide from another adventuring party.
“Everyone, please stay in character and stay immersed in the game. Don’t break character too often!”
A prompt echoed through the castle. As soon as it finished, the castle’s large clock chimed six times, and the main door automatically closed. The castle’s windows were small, and though it was still bright outside, barely any light filtered in. The dim candlelight inside wasn’t enough to dispel the eerie atmosphere.
Now it really felt like the setting.
Some people were already starting to feel scared.
Sheng Yu exaggeratedly let out a long, shaky breath, playing up her fear, while the braver ones began scrutinizing everyone’s expressions.
“Welcome, everyone, to the castle,” said Wang San, the butler. “Let me assign your rooms first so you can settle in. Dinner is being prepared. The castle has five floors, with three rooms on each from the second to the fifth floor. Each room has two beds.”
Everyone had assumed they could choose their own rooms, but after Wang San spoke, a prompt appeared in front of them: rooms had to be assigned based on character relationships. In other words, if their roles designated them as couples, friends, or family, they had to room together. A small note at the bottom read, “Harmony and friendliness ensure safety.”
No one objected after reading it.
“But what about me?” Sheng Yu frowned.
“One more thing. Those who are alone can be randomly assigned to rooms. Excluding the two from the castle, there are exactly twenty people left, so two can share a room.”
Sheng Yu looked at Song Qing: “So, do you have any…”
“I do. I—I’m her girlfriend,” a girl spoke up, somewhat embarrassed, lowering her head.
Sheng Yu was momentarily stunned. Even though she knew it was just part of the game, she still felt a slight discomfort and let go of Song Qing’s hand.
Song Qing glanced at Sheng Yu’s released hand and pressed her lips together.
In the end, Sheng Yu ended up sharing a room with another Omega who had no connections in the game. Her name was Shen Yun, the best friend of Liao Keke’s crush.
“Are you brave?” Shen Yun asked as she followed Sheng Yu into their room.
The room was spacious, filled with a damp, musty smell. A large painting hung on the wall, depicting a woman in a black dress with an expressionless face. Shen Yun gasped the moment she saw it.
The painting faced the two beds directly—the kind that would startle you if you opened your eyes at night.
“This is terrifying…” Shen Yun muttered, inhaling sharply.
Sheng Yu walked up to the painting. “Let’s take it down.”
“Are you sure? The novels I’ve read always have scenes where taking down a painting leads to trouble,” Shen Yun said hesitantly.
“Do you really want to sleep facing this thing at night?” Sheng Yu countered.
Shen Yun fell silent. “Then… let’s take it down.”
“Or we could just cover it,” Sheng Yu mused, touching her chin. It occurred to her that if the painting was a prop for one of her teammates, removing it might not be a good idea.
“Covering it sounds better,” Shen Yun agreed.
There wasn’t much to unpack, but everyone had a bag to check for contents.
Opening hers, Sheng Yu found a complete set of identity documents. She raised an eyebrow, guessing that somewhere nearby, “Sheng Yu’s” corpse might be lying around while she, as “Liang Xi,” had assumed “Sheng Yu’s” identity.
Besides the documents, there were other odd items inside—likely objects from the game’s fictional era.
After organizing her things, Sheng Yu and Shen Yun left the room. Next door was Song Qing’s room, and as they stepped out, Song Qing and Wu Wu emerged at the same time.
Sheng Yu glanced at Song Qing, then at Wu Wu, who stood two steps away from her. The four of them headed downstairs together.
Wu Wu seemed genuinely afraid of Song Qing. “Sheng Yu…”
“Don’t break character,” Sheng Yu cut in, immediately recognizing what Wu Wu wanted to say. “According to the setting, we don’t know each other.”
“Fine…”
With that, Sheng Yu and Shen Yun briskly walked past Song Qing.
Song Qing: “…”
Dinner was served at a long table where all twenty-two participants gathered. The meal was lavish, with identical dishes served on small plates in front of each person.
“Imagine having to wash all these plates—how long would that take?”
“Seriously…”
“Please don’t tell me I actually have to wash them,” Xu Er, who had drawn the “servant” role, looked on the verge of tears.
“You probably do. This era doesn’t seem to have any cleaning robots.”
“We are people of this era. Stop talking like we’re not.”
“Exactly, exactly.”
Amid laughter and chatter, they finished dinner. For now, the “ghost” hadn’t made a move, so the atmosphere remained peaceful and cheerful.
Sheng Yu glanced at Song Qing, who was peeling shrimp. Noticing Sheng Yu’s gaze, Song Qing looked up as well, prompting Sheng Yu to casually lower her head again.
“Hey, I’m talking to you guys who got the couple roles—can you at least put on a bit of an act? It looks way too fake.”
“Yeah, Xiao Yin, aren’t you going to serve her some food?”
“Actually, this place looks pretty nice.”
“True, if only the candles were a bit brighter.”
The moment the words “a bit brighter” were spoken, all the candles went out.
Someone screamed twice, and then the entire hall fell silent.
“Why did the candles suddenly go out?”
“Is the ghost about to make its move?”
“Damn… don’t kill me, I just got here.”
“Probably just the wind blowing them out. Everyone’s sitting right here, how could—”
The candles relit. The person who had been speaking mid-sentence slumped back in their chair, eyes wide, bl00d trickling from their mouth.
