I Married My Heartless Ex-Wife’s Black Lotus Sister - Chapter 14
“Song Qi’an, we’re over.” Zheng Yili spoke coldly.
The Zheng Yili of the past would have been overjoyed if Song Qi’an had humbled herself to apologize, eagerly forgiving her and even wanting to tear open her own chest to lay her heart bare for the other to trample upon.
But Zheng Yili had learned her lesson. She knew Song Qi’an’s true nature all too well.
No matter how pitiful or submissive Song Qi’an acted now, the one who truly mattered in her heart would always be Lin Xiaoxiao.
Zheng Yili was resolute and decisive—when she loved someone, she threw herself into it without hesitation, and when she stopped loving someone, she withdrew just as firmly, leaving no room for hope.
Now, with a forced smile, her words dripped with sarcasm: “Stop pretending in front of me. You might fool yourself, but you can’t fool me.”
Song Qi’an slowly raised her eyes at these words. Her dark, fathomless gaze churned with emotions so intense that Zheng Yili couldn’t bear to meet them.
Zheng Yili turned her face away, making it clear she had no intention of continuing the conversation. Song Qi’an’s expression darkened, her stare so fierce it seemed she wanted to devour Zheng Yili whole.
Song Qi’an was terrifying when angry, exuding an overwhelming pressure that made Zheng Yili’s heart waver slightly.
But she wasn’t afraid of her.
If Song Qi’an really dared to make a scene in public, Zheng Yili could seize the chance to settle old scores—slapping her a few more times to vent the grievances of her past life.
Unfortunately, that golden opportunity never came.
As the two stood locked in tension, Lin Xiaoxiao, who had left and returned, timidly stepped between them. “President Song, the path to the dressing room is so secluded… I’m a little scared to go alone. Could you… accompany me?”
As she spoke, her eyes reddened instantly, glistening with unshed tears, making her look utterly pitiful.
Zheng Yili tilted her head, her gaze lingering on Lin Xiaoxiao before she laughed. “She’s calling you.” She took half a step back, crossing her arms as she watched Song Qi’an with amusement. “Aren’t you going to play the gallant knight and comfort her?”
“Yili.” Song Qi’an’s striking brows furrowed, displeased by Zheng Yili’s mocking tone.
Zheng Yili smirked. “Did I say something wrong?”
“Miss Zheng, please don’t misunderstand,” Lin Xiaoxiao interjected forcefully, her face a picture of innocence and hurt. “There’s really nothing between President Song and me…”
Zheng Yili couldn’t be bothered with her act. “If you don’t want me to misunderstand, then don’t do things that invite misunderstanding.”
She curled her lips into a cold smile. “Otherwise, not even Song Qi’an can protect you.”
Lin Xiaoxiao immediately fell silent. She lowered her head, her face hidden by her hair, but soon, glistening tears began to fall like broken strings of pearls.
“Miss Zheng, you’re really too much. How could you slander someone like that? Don’t you know what kind of person President Song is?” Lin Xiaoxiao sobbed. “I feel so sad for her.”
Zheng Yili watched her performance in silence, only turning to Song Qi’an with indifference once it was over. “Control your people.”
“Or I might have to resort to more… physical methods.”
Song Qi’an’s expression was unreadable, her thoughts impossible to decipher.
Zheng Yili changed her stance and suddenly stepped closer to Lin Xiaoxiao: “From now on, you don’t need to keep exaggerating and badmouthing me in front of her anymore. It’s over between us.”
“But whether you can successfully hold onto her and keep her firmly in your grasp—that depends on your skills.”
Zheng Yili’s red lips curled into a smile, but it was icy cold, devoid of any warmth.
Lin Xiaoxiao was stunned at first, then overwhelmed with wild joy, her heart pounding uncontrollably. Had Song Qi’an and Zheng Yili really ended things completely? Were they truly broken up?
She couldn’t help but swallow hard, still maintaining a facade of concern for Song Qi’an on her face. “Miss Zheng, actually, President Song cares about you deeply. So please stop being unreasonable, okay?”
“She remembered that the eighth of next month is your birthday and even specially ordered flowers from abroad to surprise you…”
“Enough.” Song Qi’an interrupted Lin Xiaoxiao sharply, glancing at Zheng Yili before looking away. “Weren’t you going to the makeup room? Let’s go. Don’t delay the shoot.”
Realizing her mistake, Lin Xiaoxiao quickly pressed her lips together and followed Song Qi’an, cautiously saying, “President Song, I’m sorry. I didn’t mean to reveal the surprise you prepared for Miss Zheng.”
“I just… feel it’s unfair to you.”
“Even though you love Miss Zheng so much, she still…” Lin Xiaoxiao promptly shut her mouth, knowing exactly where to stop to leave room for speculation and suspicion.
Sure enough, Song Qi’an’s expression darkened further, the air around her turning frigid, as if frozen.
Lin Xiaoxiao lowered her head, a triumphant smile playing on her lips, her confidence growing.
Zheng Yili’s mood should have been affected by the two, but perhaps because she no longer cared, Lin Xiaoxiao’s provocations failed to stir much emotion in her.
She turned and called the director back, handing him a revised plan.
Since Lin Xiaoxiao was also participating, it would be a shame not to squeeze every last bit of value out of her—Zheng Yili owed it to herself after all the frustration she’d endured.
The director agreed to everything and soon sent Lin Xiaoxiao her revised script.
Upon discovering that her role was drastically different from what had been promised in the contract, Lin Xiaoxiao’s face immediately fell. “Director, this is too much. What we agreed on earlier was nothing like this.”
She stole a glance at Song Qi’an and asked pitifully, “Director, be honest with me—are you just following someone else’s orders? Do you even have a say in this?”
The director was no fool; how could he miss her implication?
He felt trapped. Zheng Yili was the investor—he couldn’t afford to offend her. Song Qi’an was the head of the Song family in Shanghai and the owner of Dingrui Media—equally untouchable.
Caught between a rock and a hard place, the director sighed inwardly. “Miss Lin, this was unanimously decided by the production team after discussion. Please don’t overthink it.”
“Besides, the revised script is only beneficial for gaining fans…”
“Let me see it,” Song Qi’an suddenly interjected.
The director brightened and hurriedly handed it over with deference.
After glancing through it and confirming there were no issues, Song Qi’an handed the script to Lin Xiaoxiao: “Proceed with the new script.” Then she stood up, adding, “You start filming first. I have something to attend to.”
Was she planning to find Zheng Yili? Lin Xiaoxiao watched Song Qi’an’s departing figure with barely concealed resentment, her teeth clenched so tightly they might shatter.
Zheng Yili had already left when the script was finalized.
She wasn’t worried about Meng Sulan being bullied during filming. As an artist under her company, any staff member with half a brain would know better than to mess with her.
The only person Zheng Yili needed to worry about was probably Lin Xiaoxiao. But given her understanding of Meng Sulan’s capabilities, it was hard to say who would end up at a disadvantage.
The car sped down the road as Zheng Yili dealt with work emails, until the driver hesitantly spoke up: “Miss, Qi’an is chasing us in her car.”
Zheng Yili lifted her head from the iPad and glanced sideways.
Song Qi’an’s elegant fingers rested on the steering wheel as she stared intently in their direction.
When their eyes met, Zheng Yili’s expression remained unchanged. Under Song Qi’an’s unwavering gaze, she coldly ordered: “Lose her.”
