I Married the Strongest Magician - Chapter 9
Ugh, is laundry supposed to make your hands go numb like this!?
I was doing laundry—my clothes and Lord Rolodroa’s.
Of course, magical laundry machines are a luxury reserved for the upper class, and no such extravagant item existed in this house. So it was washboards and soap, scrubbing and scrubbing by hand.
I did use hot water at first, but now it has gone cold. Just rub it hard like this on the washboard, right!? I did my best and somehow managed to hang everything to dry before my husband came home. But I was so exhausted that I collapsed onto the living room sofa and fell asleep.
Ahh…
I still have to make dinner…
…but…zzZ
When I awoke, I was sleeping soundly in bed.
Who had… carried me…?
As if there were any doubt. There were only two people in this house—Lord Rolodroa and myself. My numb, cracked hands had been treated and were perfectly fine now.
When I sat up, I saw Lord Rolodroa seated at a small table and chair beside the window, gazing outside.
“Lord Rolodroa…”
“You’re awake, Cherie.”
“I’m so sorry. I still need to prepare dinner—”
“Do I look like the kind of petty man who’d get angry over something like that?
I saw the laundry. Thank you.”
He smiled shyly as he gently stroked my hair.
“N-no, it’s simply my duty… as your wife! ”
“No doubt it was tough for someone like you—a former noble.
Even your lovely hands are all chapped… He gently took one of my hands in his.
“Lord Rolodroa…?”
I tilted my head in confusion, and he suddenly pulled away.
“Let’s eat. I made dinner.”
And so we had our meal together.
“Tomorrow’s my day off. No work.”
“…I see…”
So what? I wondered.
“You really are dense, huh?”
“Oh my, if someone can understand what you mean just from that, they’d have to be a mind reader.”
Day off = So what!
My tone grew a bit sharp.
Oops. That’s not good.
I’m not a noble lady anymore… I’m a wife now.
“That’s why…Would you like to go on a date? ”
Those unexpected words slipped from my husband’s lips.
