I Really Didn't Intend to Pick Up the Black Lotus Omega - Chapter 49
The relentless chirping of cicadas pierced through the glass of the office building.
Under the scorching August sun, Yu Qing sat at her workstation, staring blankly at her computer.
“What’s on your mind? You haven’t moved all day. You’ve been acting strange for the past two days,” Gong Ning observed from beside her, finally poking Yu Qing.
Yu Qing snapped back to reality, glancing at the blinking cursor on her screen. Only then did she realize she had been daydreaming again.
Ever since leaving the hospital two days ago, her mind had been in turmoil.
She longed for someone to confide in, but could she really share such a thing with a character from a book?
Would it cause the world to collapse?
For safety’s sake, Yu Qing decided to keep it to herself. “It’s nothing.”
“Come on, tell me. I have plenty of time today,” Gong Ning insisted, putting down her work.
Yu Qing was surprised by Gong Ning’s gesture.
She was always willing to give her time to friends in need, yet she also feared imposing on their time.
Although Yu Qing knew Gong Ning was willing to listen, it still warmed her heart.
I have an urge to confide in someone, Yu Qing thought.
“It’s just…” After a moment’s hesitation, Yu Qing used an analogy. “Imagine you brought a kitten home, but later discovered it wasn’t an ordinary cat—it was a wild leopard cat. What would you do?”
Gong Ning frowned at the question.
She struggled to follow Yu Qing’s analogy but quickly summarized, “So, you’re saying you’ve discovered Miss Omega is hiding something?”
The summary was so concise that Yu Qing froze for a moment.
She hadn’t meant to reveal so much so quickly, but under Gong Ning’s steady gaze, she nodded. “Yes.”
“How did you find out? Did she tell you?” Gong Ning pressed.
“No,” Yu Qing shook her head, answering only the last question.
“No wonder,” Gong Ning said knowingly. She patted Yu Qing’s shoulder and advised, “Talk to Miss Omega. No one fully understands someone when they first meet. You need to talk things through to move forward.”
Yu Qing found herself somewhat swayed by Gong Ning’s words.
But reality quickly pulled her back. “What if we already know the outcome without even talking?”
Yu Qing’s voice dropped as she circled around the world’s loopholes, cryptically telling Gong Ning, “Wild leopard cats are prohibited pets. Keeping one would result in punishment.”
“Then just hide her well!” Gong Ning replied without hesitation, her eyes sparkling. “Once a kitten chooses its owner, it won’t leave them, right?”
Compared to Gong Ning’s decisive certainty, Yu Qing fell silent.
She lacked confidence.
Yu Qing had never dared to imagine anyone stopping for her.
And in all these years, no one ever had.
Perhaps sensing the young woman’s hesitation, Gong Ning continued, “Personally, I hate fortune-telling. Last time I ran into a fortune-teller on the street, he rushed up to tell me I’d have great success in my career. I got so angry I cursed him out, covered my ears, and walked away.”
“Why? Isn’t that a good future?” Yu Qing asked, confused.
Gong Ning shook her head earnestly at Yu Qing. “I’ve always believed that a destiny foretold isn’t my true destiny.”
“It’s like the game I’m playing now. If you take a path that doesn’t work, you trigger different rewards and endings. There are countless versions of me, and the world I exist in is just one possibility among infinite possibilities.”
This was a perspective Yu Qing had never considered.
As she listened to Gong Ning’s words, she couldn’t help but imagine the pages of a book flipping endlessly in her mind, rustling with each turn.
“Humans can’t truly see their own fate. If a fortune-teller spoils it for you, I believe that future will never come to pass for this version of me. It’s something that would happen in another world.”
As she spoke, Gong Ning pinched her waist, indignantly declaring, “That lousy fortune-teller ruined my chance at a future of great success in public service!”
Seeing Gong Ning’s childish expression, Yu Qing couldn’t help but chuckle.
The bitter gourd-like expression on Yu Qing’s face finally brightened with a hint of sunshine, lifting Gong Ning’s spirits and inspiring her to explain her reasoning more earnestly.
“Xiao Yu, fate is something we must grasp with our own hands. Even if you glimpse the outcome, it might only be a partial view, like seeing just a spot on a leopard’s hide.”
“You saw a bad ending, but the future isn’t necessarily bleak. I saw a good ending, but perhaps when I reach that happy conclusion, it will be fleeting, like morning glory that fades by evening.”
Yu Qing readily accepted the first half of Gong Ning’s words. Perhaps, as Gong Ning suggested, the ending foretold in the book wasn’t inevitable.
But when she heard the second half of Gong Ning’s statement, she quickly rapped the table three times. “Spit, spit, spit!”
Yu Qing cherished every friend she had and found it impossible to be angry with Gong Ning’s carefree personality.
Seeing Yu Qing’s reaction, Gong Ning burst into laughter, her eyes crinkling with amusement. “Sister, I’m so touched!”
Whether it was genuine or feigned emotion, she immediately wrapped Yu Qing in a tight hug.
The difference was stark.
At that moment, Yu Qing felt suffocated, her mind going blank from the pressure.
Then Gong Ning leaned close to Yu Qing’s ear and said earnestly, “Xiao Yu, take my words to heart. Don’t let your obsession with predetermined outcomes hold you back. Human effort can overcome fate. Do you hear me?”
With that, Gong Ning squeezed Yu Qing tighter, forcing her to nod.
But the force of Yu Qing’s nod felt weak.
If she wanted to change the ending, she would have to alter the plot of the story itself.
This truly means “defying fate”…
Could she do it alone?
As Yu Qing hesitated, Director Chen walked over and announced, “I have an announcement to make.”
Seeing this, Gong Ning quickly released Yu Qing and straightened her clothes. “Xiao Yu, perk up! You’re going to be the protagonist now.”
Hearing those words, Yu Qing’s heart began to race.
Partly because Director Chen was about to announce her promotion to Deputy Team Leader.
And partly because of Gong Ning’s words: “You’re going to be the protagonist now.”
The protagonist…
“Yu Qing has demonstrated exceptional performance. Effective immediately, she will assume the position of Deputy Team Leader.”
As Director Chen made the announcement, Yu Qing stood up from her desk.
Polite and composed, she nodded slightly to everyone. “Please continue to guide me in the future.”
“Congratulations, Deputy Team Leader Yu!”
“Deputy Team Leader Yu has only been with the company for a year. Your future looks incredibly promising!”
“You’re too kind! We’ll all continue to support you!”
“Don’t forget us when you become rich and famous!”
The applause surged toward Yu Qing like a tidal wave, a mix of celebration, flattery, and genuine congratulations.
Yu Qing scanned the crowd, her gaze lingering on Gong Ning, who was offering her congratulations, and Liaoliao, standing at a distance.
She couldn’t shake the feeling that someone was missing.
If only Jiang Nianyu were here, she thought.
The thought flashed through Yu Qing’s mind unbidden.
Unconsciously, Jiang Nianyu had come to occupy an irreplaceable role in Yu Qing’s heart.
It seemed even Yu Qing herself hadn’t realized how indispensable Jiang Nianyu had become to her.
“Congratulations!”
Perhaps because Yu Qing so desperately wished Jiang Nianyu could share this moment with her, a face bearing a slight resemblance to Jiang Nianyu suddenly appeared before her.
But before Yu Qing could wipe away the sun’s blinding glare from her eyes, she heard a familiar voice: “Sister!”
It wasn’t Jiang Nianyu.
It was Siqing, who had rushed over in a hurry.
Sunlight streamed through the window, gradually fading the baby-blue hue of Yu Qing’s eyes to a chestnut brown.
Yu Qing froze, staring at the person before her. She suddenly realized that the smiling face bore a striking resemblance to Jiang Nianyu’s facial features.
Siqing.
Jiang Siqing…
The applause stirred a breeze that swept through Yu Qing’s mind, stirring up memories. As countless words and phrases flashed through her head, she suddenly realized something: Jiang Nianyu, the protagonist of the novel, had a younger sister named Jiang Siqing.
The novel described this younger sister as having the same eccentric, proud, and delicate personality as the Miss Siqing standing before her—a pampered young lady who never lifted a finger.
On the surface, the two sisters seemed to be at odds, constantly bickering since childhood. Yet, when Jiang Nianyu returned to the Jiang Family, Siqing secretly supported her at every turn, becoming a crucial ally in Jiang Nianyu’s quest to bring their mother’s murderer to justice.
Yu Qing recalled the black smoke that had billowed from the corridor that day, and Jiang Nianyu’s practiced instructions to Siqing. The novel’s plot continued to churn in her mind.
Could this be why Jiang Siqing had suddenly moved in next door?
Had Jiang Nianyu already regained her memories?
If so, why hadn’t she told Yu Qing?
Was she already planning to leave her?
“Xiao Yu, what would you like to eat?”
Reading the book and her fragmented memories were like a dull knife, sending waves of terror into Yu Qing’s palm, spreading and engulfing her until Director Chen’s voice abruptly cut through the haze.
Yu Qing snapped back to reality, glancing at the unfamiliar yet familiar Jiang Siqing before her, then at the smiling faces around her. She forced a smile in return. “I’m fine with anything. It’s up to everyone else what they want to eat.”
She had no appetite and no particular craving.
Ideally, she wanted them to choose a place with alcohol so she could casually drink a few extra glasses amidst the congratulatory cheers.
Drowning her sorrows in wine.
While the others discussed their options, Yu Qing eagerly texted Jiang Nianyu:Â They’re celebrating my promotion. Don’t wait up for dinner.
For some reason, Yu Qing felt a strange distance in her message.
Not wanting Jiang Nianyu to sense her coldness, she immediately followed up with a Lianlian emoji she had drawn herself.
—A puppy wagging its pink tail, carrying its leash to its owner.
Such a simple gesture, one that every dog in the world seemed to master effortlessly.
Yet Yu Qing couldn’t bring herself to do it.
Buzz.
Buzz.
Jiang Nianyu’s phone, resting on the table, vibrated twice in quick succession. Before the screen could dim, she picked it up.
Slumped lazily on the sofa, Jiang Nianyu glanced at the message. Her eyes, which had just lifted, immediately fell again, her gaze settling on the floor.
A hint of melancholy lingered in her lowered lashes, making her appear even colder in the air-conditioned room.
“Is Miss Jiang not satisfied?” A nearby shop assistant asked nervously, watching her.
Jiang Nianyu glanced at Yu Qing’s message on the screen, then at the ring on her finger. She nodded. “Indeed.”
“Do you have anything better?”
This was the third time Jiang Nianyu had asked this question today.
Inside the VIP room, the table was covered with dazzling rings: diamond, gemstone, jade…
Yet none of them caught Jiang Nianyu’s eye.
Today, Jiang Nianyu’s standards were impossibly high.
Either the gemstone lacked sufficient luster, or the jade had a hairline flaw finer than a strand of hair. It seemed nothing was worthy of her A-Qing.
The Store Manager stood beside her, looking troubled. She didn’t want to lose such a valuable client. Turning to Jiang Nianyu, she said, “Miss Shen just sent over a sapphire ring from the auction house this morning. Would you like to take a look?”
Items from the auction house were undoubtedly of high quality.
The only problem was that securing them came at an exorbitant price.
Jiang Nianyu didn’t even blink. “What does it look like?” she asked the Store Manager.
The Store Manager hurried to retrieve the ring from a separate safe nearby. The velvet box was thick and heavy, like a brick, and was carefully opened. “A flawless sapphire,” she explained. “Its color shifts subtly depending on the angle. Legend has it that during the turmoil of the last century, a fleeing maid plucked it from the crown of the beheaded queen.”
As she spoke, the Store Manager took out the ring and presented it to Jiang Nianyu. “And from this angle, it perfectly complements the color of your eyes—that same baby blue.”
Jiang Nianyu cared nothing for the gemstone’s purity or its storied past.
But when she heard the Store Manager say the word “eyes,” she was immediately drawn in. She reached out, took the gemstone ring, and slipped it onto her finger, examining it closely.
Wearing my own eyes on Yu Qing’s hand.
It was like Adam giving up his rib, making himself a part of Eve.
Jiang Nianyu particularly liked the Store Manager’s earlier remark. She narrowed her eyes slightly. “Has anyone made an offer yet?”
“Not yet,” the Store Manager replied.
“Then it’s mine now,” Jiang Nianyu said casually, buying the ring as if it were a roadside vegetable.
The meticulously discerning Ms. Jiang also expressed disdain for the packaging holding her “vegetable,” gesturing to the Store Manager. “Find something more befitting.”
“Ah,” the Store Manager finally breathed a sigh of relief, his face lighting up with a smile.
Lin Sui lowered her gaze, immediately signaling her subordinate to follow the Store Manager.
Watching the clerk put away the other jewelry Jiang Nianyu had tried on, Lin Sui glanced at the gemstone ring on Jiang Nianyu’s hand and remarked, “Miss Yu must be overjoyed to receive such an extravagant gift.”
Jiang Nianyu smiled faintly. “She won’t know the ring’s price.”
“Why not?” Lin Sui asked, surprised. “Miss Yu isn’t the type to recognize such things. Doesn’t that defeat the purpose?” Realizing she had overstepped her boundaries, she quickly added, “My apologies, President Yu.”
Jiang Nianyu’s eyes showed no hint of displeasure. She simply looked up and asked Lin Sui in a calm tone, “What do you think the purpose should be?”
Lin Sui had no answer.
Having worked for Jiang Nianyu for years, she knew the woman was cold and calculating, always acting with meticulous planning and never making unprofitable deals.
That’s why she couldn’t understand what Yu Qing could possibly offer Jiang Nianyu. She wasn’t even an Alpha, just a Beta.
“The most meaningful purpose is to celebrate A-Qing’s promotion to Deputy Team Leader,” Jiang Nianyu said, turning the gemstone ring over in her hand, admiring the jewel that would soon adorn Yu Qing’s finger.
Lin Sui could hardly believe her ears, let alone imagine that such words would ever come from Jiang Nianyu’s mouth.
Yet, deep down, she knew she should have realized it the moment Jiang Nianyu said, “Someone’s waiting for me at home.”
Lin Sui couldn’t help but mutter, “That’s why they say a fire in an old house is the most dangerous.”
Her muttering was too loud, and Jiang Nianyu looked up at her with a cold gaze.
Lin Sui felt a chill under Jiang Nianyu’s piercing stare. “I’ll take the ring to be cleaned,” she stammered.
She fled quickly, the gemstone ring disappearing from Jiang Nianyu’s sight in an instant.
Left alone in the dimly lit room, Jiang Nianyu’s mind echoed with Lin Sui’s earlier remark. Her brow slowly furrowed.
A fire in an old house…
Was she really that old already?
She was only two years older than Yu Qing.
What difference could two years possibly make?
“The ring is here,” Lin Sui announced, knocking on Jiang Nianyu’s office door as the moonlight gradually rose. She presented the gemstone ring to Jiang Nianyu once more.
Clean up, pack up.
It won’t take more than two years.
The rustling of papers in the office never ceased as Jiang Nianyu thought calmly, her silver-rimmed glasses perched on her nose lending her an air of unapproachability.
“Understood.”
Seeming eager to finish her work, Jiang Nianyu made no move toward the gemstone ring.
Just then, in the quiet room reflecting Jiang Nianyu’s profile, her phone suddenly lit up with Yu Qing’s name.
Buzz… buzz… buzz…
A glint flashed across her glasses as Jiang Nianyu finally looked up and immediately answered Yu Qing’s call. “A-Qing.”
But the voice on the other end wasn’t Yu Qing’s.
It was the same Alpha colleague who had answered the phone when Yu Qing had a fever last time. “I’m not Xiao Yu. I’m Xiao Yu’s colleague.”
Jiang Nianyu’s expression tightened instantly. “What’s wrong with A-Qing?”
“She’s drunk. Could you come pick her up?” Gong Ning said from the other end of the line.
Jiang Nianyu listened to the background noise on the phone, which sounded particularly chaotic. She frowned but wasted no time asking Gong Ning, “Please send me the address. I’ll come right away.”
“Okay,” Gong Ning replied, nodding eagerly and preparing to send the address.
Suddenly, Yu Qing pushed her way into the conversation, her voice slurring, “Don’t stop me! I can still… drink!”
“Xiao Yu, no more drinking!”
Jiang Nianyu paused, her hand hovering over the hang-up button.
Listening to the exchange on the other end, her brow furrowed deeply. Without even removing her glasses, she immediately rushed out the door.
Lin Sui, unaware of the emergency, hurried after her.
As Jiang Nianyu’s part-time driver, Lin Sui drove like she was flying.
Five minutes after Gong Ning sent the location, a Rolls-Royce Phantom sliced through the night, gliding into the neon-lit streets.
The scene was jarringly incongruous. Colleagues waiting for their rides stared in astonishment, some nearly sobering up at the sight of the car.
Even as Gong Ning helped Yu Qing out of the palace, having just received a message from Yu Qing’s Omega, she couldn’t help but wonder about the woman’s true identity.
“She really is a leopard cat,” Gong Ning murmured in amazement.
“What leopard cat?” Yu Qing asked, her steps unsteady from the alcohol. She looked up at Gong Ning, her eyes unfocused.
“Your Leopard Cat Miss is here,” Gong Ning gestured.
Yu Qing immediately scanned the surroundings, but amidst the lush greenery, none of the approaching figures were Jiang Nianyu. “Where?”
An indescribable ache pressed down on Yu Qing. She lowered her gaze and mumbled softly, “She’s going to abandon me.”
“No one’s abandoning you.”
Suddenly, Jiang Nianyu’s voice came from behind Yu Qing.
Yu Qing felt the familiar coolness of Jiang Nianyu’s wrist against her own, the bl00d beneath her skin pulsing with a frantic rhythm.
“Thank you for your help,” Jiang Nianyu said, taking Yu Qing from Gong Ning’s arm and giving her a particularly polite nod.
Behind her cool, clear eyes, glasses seemed to conceal even the faintest trace of warmth. From Gong Ning’s perspective, only a cold, distant formality remained.
Gong Ning paused, momentarily stunned, and felt almost unworthy of Jiang Nianyu’s polite “thank you.” “It was nothing,” she replied, “just a small favor. You’re too kind.”
Jiang Nianyu had no patience for polite exchanges and didn’t mind Gong Ning addressing her with such formality. Her arm supported the drunken Beta, who was currently her only support.
Jiang Nianyu doubted Yu Qing could have gotten this drunk on her own. She turned to Jiang Siqing, who was standing obediently nearby. “What happened?”
Jiang Siqing, still angry, was happy to use Jiang Nianyu to vent her frustration on Yu Qing’s behalf. “Those people over there kept forcing Sister to drink. Sister Gong Ning and I tried to block a few glasses, but they wouldn’t let up. So Sister drank…”
As Jiang Siqing spoke, the night seemed to darken further. Jiang Nianyu’s cold gaze swept across the group in the distance.
The group huddled together, suddenly feeling guilty, like drunken quail, swaying and burying their heads in a tight huddle.
But what could they do?
Lin Sui in the car had already memorized his face.
“You know Sister is too kind to refuse,” Jiang Siqing said, noticing Jiang Nianyu’s darkening expression. “Don’t be angry with her when you get back.”
“I know,” Jiang Nianyu replied coldly, offering no further explanation as she led Yu Qing away.
Seeing Yu Qing in such a state, Jiang Nianyu’s chest tightened with discomfort.
Despite having lived so many years, she felt as if she had only just begun to feel today.
The car Jiang Nianyu hailed this time was spacious, even more so than the one Yu Qing had taken when she was drunk last time.
Yu Qing gazed dazedly at the car’s interior, the lavish decor making her head spin. She leaned against Jiang Nianyu as she got in. “How did you get here…?”
“Your colleague called me,” Jiang Nianyu explained calmly, straightening Yu Qing’s hem.
Yu Qing let out a long breath, her voice thick with alcohol. “Sister Gong Ning is such a wonderful person.”
As she spoke, a cryptic smile played on her lips, as if they shared countless profound experiences together. Jiang Nianyu’s gaze darkened at the implication.
But then Yu Qing continued, “She even told me to lock you up at home.”
The girl’s eyes sparkled brightly with smug pride. Lin Sui, driving in front, couldn’t help but gasp in shock.
This girl is insane. She’s going to get herself killed.
Jiang Nianyu’s expression had already turned grim at Yu Qing’s words. Should I prepare to brake so Jiang Nianyu can just toss her out of the car?
Lin Sui mentally ran through a hundred scenarios, but Jiang Nianyu’s expression in the rearview mirror shifted effortlessly. The corners of her eyes curved in amusement as she smiled. “What’s this, A-Qing? You want to lock me up at home?”
Oblivious to the danger, Yu Qing tilted her chin defiantly at Jiang Nianyu, her eyes fixed on the woman’s amused gaze. “Is that not allowed?”
Lin Sui drove steadily, but Yu Qing, still drunk, couldn’t quite control her body against the subtle inertia. She leaned heavily against Jiang Nianyu, nuzzling close and muttering, “You’re always running around with me, getting all dirty. Can’t I just keep you at home?”
Lin Sui gripped the steering wheel tightly, her eyes darting back and forth.
Is she talking about a person or a cat? she wondered.
Miss Yu, you’re definitely having inappropriate thoughts.
Just wait until her boss finds out—
“Of course you can,” Jiang Nianyu replied, gently brushing Yu Qing’s hair aside. Far from being annoyed, she carefully cleared the tangled strands from Yu Qing’s blurred vision.
This was the second time today Lin Sui couldn’t believe her eyes and ears.
In the rearview mirror, she watched Yu Qing’s head slowly shift, inching closer to Jiang Nianyu under the flickering streetlights. The dim light barely illuminated Yu Qing’s eyes, which were equally dim.
She stared intently at Jiang Nianyu, as if trying to pierce through her eyes and see into the depths of her soul.
Who exactly is she?
What kind of person is she, really?
Why couldn’t time have stopped forever when Jiang Nianyu lost her memory?
So that she would always have to rely on me.
Their gazes locked for too long, Yu Qing’s eyes losing focus, like a drawn-out, pointless shot in a terrible movie that reveals nothing.
But even if this night were a terrible film, Jiang Nianyu sat upright, letting Yu Qing’s audacity wash over her. She could stare into those eyes for ten thousand years and never tire of them.
Lin Sui felt a pang of confusion, unsure why she saw a trace of sorrow in Yu Qing’s eyes through the rearview mirror.
It was as if Yu Qing were the one trapped, not Jiang Nianyu.
Despite her earlier bravado and stubbornness, Yu Qing knew deep down:Â I can’t keep you… You’ll find someone else.
The ache in her chest had reached the breaking point, the pain so intense that Yu Qing could almost see the future. She tried to relax her furrowed brow, but the tension only tightened.
Outside the window, a dazzling light show of bizarre and fantastical lights swept past, engulfing Jiang Nianyu in Yu Qing’s vision and making her seem increasingly unreal.
It also reminded her of “Shen Ting,” a character from the original novel whom she had never even met: “Niannian, Omegas really do need Alphas, right?”
As an Alpha, Lin Sui found this to be a self-evident truth. After all, in the ABO world, Alphas and Omegas were…
“!”
Just as she was thinking this, a chill ran down Lin Sui’s spine.
Her gaze drifted dully to the rearview mirror, where she met Jiang Nianyu’s eyes, cold and displeased.
The terrifying sense of oppression remained undiminished as the partition slowly rose.
Lin Sui’s hands, gripping the steering wheel, were clammy with cold sweat. Her heart pounded like it was being crushed beneath a rocky hillside.
When the partition reached its full height, Lin Sui heard Jiang Nianyu say, “Betas are better than Alphas,” and was completely dismissed.
Now, it was a world entirely belonging to Yu Qing and Jiang Nianyu.
Ahead lay a long tunnel. As the light in the space compressed, Yu Qing felt a little better, but a faint gloom still lingered in her eyes.
“I don’t believe you.”
“You all bully me because I’m just a Beta.”
Remembering Jiang Siqing’s recent interrogation, Jiang Nianyu earnestly asked Yu Qing, “Who all?”
“Jiang Nianyu,” Yu Qing said, counting on her fingers one by one. “Jiang Nianyu… and Jiang Nianyu.”
“And… Jiang Nianyu.”
No matter how she counted, every finger held Jiang Nianyu’s name.
Yu Qing was beginning to lose track of whether her resentment toward Jiang Nianyu stemmed from the desolation of a person who had been needed realizing they were about to be abandoned, or from the anguish of unrequited love.
The shifting lines of lights around them seemed to pull the drunken woman into a tunnel of time and space. Half of Yu Qing’s mind was filled with Gong Ning’s encouragement, while the other half replayed scenes from the novel.
She didn’t know if she and Jiang Nianyu had a future. The alcohol tugged at her, urging her not to dwell on possibilities, but to lose herself in the reality of the present moment.
Yu Qing spread her hands, like a child begging for their beloved’s affection. “Where’s my gift?”
“Niannian, I got a promotion today,” Yu Qing called out Jiang Nianyu’s name, her slender frame sharing one of her few joys.
“Didn’t you say you’d give me a gift?”
As she spoke, Yu Qing’s arms wrapped around Jiang Nianyu’s neck.
The girl’s lithe figure coiled around Jiang Nianyu like a small snake, her breath hot and intimate against Jiang Nianyu’s throat.
Jiang Nianyu’s eyes maintained a controlled calm, but her voice trembled slightly, as if dampened by tears. “I have one.”
Originally, Jiang Nianyu hadn’t planned to give Yu Qing the gift while she was drunk. She wanted to see the clear joy in Yu Qing’s eyes.
But could there be a more perfect moment than this?
Jiang Nianyu wanted her gift to dispel the gloom in Yu Qing’s heart.
“I’m giving you my eyes,” Jiang Nianyu said slowly, opening the prepared box and taking out the ring inside.
