I Received an NTR V*deo - Episode 14
“Hey, Yujiro.”
“Hiro-kun, you look kind of rough. Everyone’s scared of you, you know?”
Hiro chuckled at my comment.
He’s been friends with my older brother ever since my brother started high school—over two years now.
“I haven’t done anything,” Hiro replied.
“I know. Still, what a coincidence running into you here.”
“I got hooked on that game you recommended.”
He held out his phone, showing me the game screen. Looks like Hiro’s been hunting monsters in the same game and happened to show up here too.
“Were you coming back from practice? Wait—Toshiro?”
“I left early.”
“I see. By the way, I heard he’s getting suspended again.”
“Seriously? What he did this time?”
We chatted while staring at our phones.
“They grilled meat in the classroom. The smoke set off the alarms, and when the teachers rushed in, he got into an argument and… gave the teacher a kancho.”
“He’s just as stupid as ever.”
“And guess what—they used a charcoal grill. I mean, yakiniku at school is dumb enough, but charcoal? That’s next-level idiocy.”
We exchanged a tired laugh as we kept grinding away in the game. The monsters were surprisingly tough, and both of us were struggling.
“By the way, thanks for helping me out the other day.”
“You’ve helped me too, so think nothing of it.”
Once we finally cleared the stage, we looked up from our phones and talked face to face.
“If you’ve ever got a problem, come to me.”
“I’m worried about what might happen if I start relying on you too much.”
“No worries. I won’t do anything… well, maybe just rob you blind.”
“Haha! That’s terrifying. Guess I’ll pass, then.”
“Joking, of course.”
We both laughed.
It already felt like we were pretty good friends.
But I noticed people around us staring, so I decided it was time to head out.
“Well, I should go. I’ll get scolded if I eat dinner too late.”
“Alright. See you around.”
We went our separate ways. Hiro kept playing, eyes glued to his phone. Watching him walk off like that, I laughed to myself and mimicked him, checking my own phone as I made my way home.

◇◇◇◇◇◇◇
I had plans to meet Hoshina today. We agreed on a station a few steps away—probably to avoid being seen near school.
The area had a lot of yakiniku places, and the smell of grilled meat lingered in the air.
By the time I arrived after school, it was getting late. I spotted Hoshina waiting near the station entrance, looking nervous. She held a handkerchief to her mouth and kept glancing around.
“Sorry to keep you waiting.”
“Yujiro. I wasn’t waiting long, but… can we leave here already?”
“Sure, but why?”
“The atmosphere sucks. Plus, people keep staring. It’s gross.”
True enough, several guys nearby were ogling her.
“She’s stunning…”
“If I could date a girl like that, I’d need nothing else.”
“You idiot. You think she’d even look our way?”
Despite the compliments, Hoshina didn’t seem pleased—if anything, she looked disgusted by the attention.
“Sorry for picking such a public spot.”
“It’s okay. We couldn’t exactly meet near school. But maybe let’s find a quieter station next time.”
“Got it. I’ll be more careful.”
We started walking toward a nearby shopping complex. The path was a steep uphill, and Hoshina looked winded by the time we reached the top.
“You don’t like exercise?”
“Not really. I hate comparing myself to others. Sports are all about who’s faster or stronger.”
“Fair enough. But you don’t need to worry too much.”
“It’s hard not to. I wish I could be more carefree, like you.”
Hoshina’s more serious than she lets on. She probably overthinks things a lot. Meanwhile, I just kind of let life happen.
“So, what did you want to talk about?”
“Hmm… how do I say this…”
“Is it complicated? Please don’t say it’s about schoolwork.”
“No, nothing like that. My grades are fine.”
“…Actually, I was hoping for some advice.”
Didn’t expect her to be that smart. From now on, she’s my go-to if I run into academic trouble.
Without saying much else, we arrived at the complex. There were so many places to eat it was hard to choose, but since we were mainly here to talk, we went with an ice cream shop.
After ordering double scoops, I sat down. Hoshina, on the other hand, took out a disinfectant spray and began sanitizing her chair.
“You’re still such a clean freak, huh?”
“I wish I could stop…”
“I think it’s kind of charming. It makes you unique.”
“……”
She blushed. I wasn’t sure why she was embarrassed, but I stared at her, curious.
Once her meticulous cleaning was finished, she finally sat down.
“Let me ask you straight—what do you think of Netori?”
“Netori? I don’t really think anything. We’re not close or something.”
We’d never spoken directly, so I had no opinion.
“What’s with the sudden question?”
“It’s been bothering me. A lot lately.”
“Sometimes talking it out helps.”
“……”
She opened her mouth to speak a few times but couldn’t get the words out, just looked down. It must be serious. I waited, heart pounding.
“Did something happen? Did he hurt you?”
“No. I wasn’t hurt. If anything… I think you are the one being hurt.”
“Huh? Me? Why?”
“Because… it seems like that Netori guy is messing around with your girlfriend.”
“You mean… Megumi?”
“Yeah. I overheard him talking to his friends. I don’t know the details, but I’ve seen them together. It didn’t look innocent.”
“…I see.”
So, Megumi and Netori?
It wasn’t hard to believe. Netori’s close with Shoji, and things had felt off for a while now.
But the fact that Hoshina was so worried about this—even though it didn’t involve her—just showed how kind she really is.
“That’s actually why I approached you. I wanted to see what kind of guy Megumi was dating.”
“What?! I thought you just wanted to play a game!”
“That was part of it… but not the main reason.”
I had totally misunderstood her.
Honestly, that surprised me more than the Megumi-Netori news.
“So, what are you going to do, Yujiro?”
“Hm… I’m not sure yet. But I think I should distance myself from Netori. I’ll talk to him when the time comes.”
“Sorry I couldn’t be more helpful.”
“It’s fine. You were the one worried this whole time. I’m sorry for not noticing.”
“No, I’m okay. I just didn’t want to see you get hurt.”
“I’m really okay. So don’t worry, Hoshina.”
When I smiled, she returned it—with tears gathering at the corners of her eyes.
“I still need to figure things out with Megumi… but I also have a promise to keep with you.”
“A promise? Then will you go out with me again on your next day off?”
“Of course. You can pick anything you want to do. I’ll go with you.”
“I’m looking forward to it.”
But Netori and Megumi, huh…
Where did that even start?
If they’re just hanging out, fine. But Megumi gets jealous and angry with me, so I don’t think she’s cheating…
That’s what I was thinking at the time—still too naive to see what was really going on.
