I Reincarnated as a Villainous Noble and Want to Enjoy a Laid-Back Harem Life – I Have No Intention of Getting Involved in the Main Story, Just Want to Live Comfortably with My Female Slaves, but Everyone Around Me Keeps Treating Me Like a Hero - Chapter 2.11
My words echoed in the air.
In response, the spirit of the World Tree appeared before us.
“Huh? Wha—?”
Bohater stared at her in disbelief, unable to process what she was seeing.
“Oh my, don’t look at me like that.”
The spirit of the World Tree.
Her manifested form seemed to have been influenced by the elves nearby—she had long, elven ears, golden hair, and striking blue eyes.
However, the most distinctive feature was the large embroidery-like pattern of branches and leaves covering nearly half of her face.
“I know I’m the so-called root of all the trouble, but do you really have to stare at me like that? It’s rude to gawk at a girl, don’t you think?”
“Wait… Are you seriously telling me that this cheerful, carefree person is the spirit of the World Tree?”
“Yes, hard to believe, isn’t it?”
The spirit of the World Tree.
Her lively personality had been this way long before I ever met her. It wasn’t because of my influence.
“W-Where’s the dignity?! There’s no way this is the cause of all our problems. You must be joking!”
“You two are being rather disrespectful, don’t you think?”
“No, come on! Anyone would think the same after meeting you! I’m not the weird one here!”
“Funny. The elves who saw me all knelt in reverence, regardless of what they knew about my personality.”
“Ugh… That just makes me lose a bit of respect for the elves.”
“You’re quite the insolent child. Have you even been properly disciplined?”
“Hmph. A little wildness makes life more interesting, don’t you think?”
“Oh really?”
“I know the line between acceptable and unacceptable behavior, alright? Even if you scold me, there’s not much you can do to me, is there?”
“Ugh, you’ve already figured out that I can’t do much to you, haven’t you?”
“Spirits don’t have much direct influence over the world to begin with. And in your case, since your core resides in the World Tree, your reach is even more limited.”
“Strange, isn’t it? Even though I hold a god-like status among the elves, I don’t feel the least bit respected. Shocking, really.”
“I’m an atheist.”
“Oh? Now that’s intriguing. I’d love to study the nature of gods, too. Just what kind of magic do they use?”
“You two are so irreverent it’s almost overwhelming. How did two people like you end up in the same place?”
“Anyway,” I interjected, “this spirit—who is supposedly the cause of the problem—seems perfectly fine. Do you have any idea how to fix the World Tree?”
“I do. But the problem is figuring out how to do it.”
“Right now, I’m under attack from some strange force. My power is being drained, and it’s causing all sorts of side effects.”
Rather than me explaining, the spirit herself laid out the situation.
“So basically, I’m trying to track down the culprit. I still don’t know who it is yet.”
I concluded the explanation firmly.
“Wait… You act all high and mighty, claiming to be god-like, but you’re actually in such a pitiful state?”
“Shut up! I’ve been using my power all over the elven lands, so I’m running low, alright?!”
Hearing our explanation, Bohater couldn’t help but give her blunt assessment.
The spirit of the World Tree, clearly offended, let out an indignant cry in response.
