Episode 24

‘I’m Michael from the Michael Union. Everyone, please listen quietly.’  

Michael’s clear voice echoed throughout the gym, drawing the students’ attention. …Impressive.  

To change the atmosphere of the entire room with just her voice—it’s a testament to her overwhelming presence.  

‘I’d like to take this opportunity to introduce a newly established Union.’  

As Michael spoke, someone tapped my shoulder. I turned to see Lucifer approaching, guiding us to the stage.  

Following behind Lucifer, we walked toward the side of the stage. Once we were in position, Michael continued speaking.  

‘The name of the Union is the Seraph & Luminous Union. The angel and demon representing the Union are Seraph Lunaria and Luminous Vesperinus.’  

The gym filled with murmurs of surprise. It seemed people knew that the two of them had started a Union. But it hadn’t been made public outside of our class that they had formed one Union together.  

‘And the Soul Binder contracted with them is one person, Takigawa Yuma. Together, they have formed a Union, consisting of an angel and a demon, and will begin their activities.’  

With those words, the gym grew even more chaotic.  

“An angel and demon Union… seriously?”  

“Seraph and Luminous, together in one Union? That’s insane!”  

“One contractor? What does that mean? Could it be that one person has contracts with both of them?”  

Amid the growing commotion, I noticed the other Union leaders standing at the edge of the gym watching us intently. Their eyes weren’t filled with surprise but rather a calculating gaze. It was as if they were trying to figure out if they could bring me over to their side.  

Once the introduction ended, I followed Seraph and Luminous’ lead and gave a small bow. The crowd clapped, and Michael smiled at us.  

‘While their Union will start full activities soon, they are currently only able to contract with one Soul Binder. For now, they won’t be able to recruit any more members. So please give them your support.’  

…That was probably to ease some of the pressure on Seraph and Luminous.  

With Michael’s gentle smile, our introduction came to a close. As we stepped down from the stage, Luminous let out a sigh of relief, and Seraph smiled at her.  

“You were a little nervous, weren’t you, Luminous-san?”  

“…Huh? No, I wasn’t nervous at all.”  

“Your legs were shaking.”  

“No, they weren’t.”  

Seraph teased. Luminous quickly turned her gaze away, flustered.  

…The two of them are the same as ever.  

As we returned to the line, I felt even more eyes focusing on me. Looks like my school life is going to be far from that of a background character.  

With the entrance ceremony over, we headed back to the classroom.  

…It seems like we’ve attracted even more attention now. Of course, Seraph and Luminous are being noticed. But the fact that I’m being watched too is likely due to the Union announcement.  

As soon as I sat down, classmates gathered around us.  

“Takigawa-kun! Can we talk for a second!?”  

“……What is it?”  

“You’ve formed a Union with both of them, right!? You’ve contracted with them too, haven’t you!?”  

“Uh, yeah….. that’s right.”  

“H-How did you do that!? Contracting with both of them is unheard of!”  

A barrage of questions. …Well, I get why they’re curious about multiple contracts. But I don’t intend to explain it in detail.  

Besides, Seraph and Luminous had told me it was better not to talk about it too much. As they shot me a concerned glance, I responded with a wry smile.  

“I don’t really understand the details either.”  

“Huh, really? Still, that’s amazing…”  

The girl in front of me looked at me with admiration, and I couldn’t help but smile. She wasn’t a character from the game, just an ordinary background student.  

I had planned to enjoy a romance with a girl like her while experiencing the main storyline of the game…

Well, even though I had planned to enjoy some romance, I guess it’s not entirely impossible to start now.  

As I was thinking about this, I heard envious voices around me.  

“Wow, being able to contract with both of them, that’s amazing…”  

“I always thought Seraph and Luminous would definitely become high-ranking. But to think they got ahead of us…”  

I couldn’t say anything to that, so I just gave them a wry smile. At that moment, the classroom door opened. Michael walked in with a calm stride.  

“Everyone, great job with the entrance ceremony. Now, let’s begin homeroom.”  

Michael stood at the teacher’s podium and began speaking in her gentle voice. The previously lively classroom quickly quieted down, and everyone headed back to their seats.  

Once she confirmed everyone was seated, Michael smiled.  

“Alright. To both the continuing students and the new ones—welcome to Soulwing Academy. Your school life starts now, but I hope each of you can set goals and enjoy your time here. There will be many challenges, and sometimes you might feel rushed, but… take it easy and enjoy your time at the academy.”  

The students in the classroom nodded and listened intently to her words.  

…I didn’t see Kirisaki here. She’s not exactly a model student. Honestly, her overwhelming talent is the only reason she gets away with it. But in a regular school, she probably wouldn’t be able to graduate.  

She’s probably in the training grounds right now, challenging someone to a fight just for the sake of it.  

After talking for a while about advice for school life and various precautions, Michael turned her gaze toward us.  

“Alright, that concludes homeroom. Takigawa-san, Seraph-san, and Luminous-san. Could the three of you come to the faculty office afterward? There’s something related to your Union I need to discuss.”  

Hearing this, we exchanged glances.  

What could it be about? In the game, when a Union was first established, Michael or Lucifer would usually provide some kind of support.  

…….It’s probably about assigning us some work.
