Episode 29

Kirisaki was sitting in front of me. After a while, she turned around and offered me a candy.

“Want one?”

“…..I can’t move my arms.”

Before I realized it, I could hear Seraph’s soft breathing. She seemed to have fallen into a deep sleep.

If I moved too much, I might wake one of them. And honestly, I wanted to enjoy being close to these two beautiful girls for a little longer.

“Open your mouth.”

As Kirisaki instructed, I opened my mouth and waited, feeling like a baby bird.

No way… is she really going to feed me? The thought of Kirisaki doing something like that for me—how lucky could I be?

Just as I was about to forget my “mob” status and fully embrace this moment of happiness, Kirisaki flicked the candy with her finger. The candy, propelled at high speed, shot straight toward my mouth.

This wasn’t the gentle scene of a mother bird feeding her baby. It was nothing short of abuse.

“Gah!?”

“Nice.”

“…Nice? That almost went down my throat.”

“Don’t let your guard down.”

“Even when someone’s feeding me candy, I’m supposed to stay alert?”

“That’s the key to getting stronger.”

Kirisaki looked satisfied with herself.

Damn her. Well, at least she fed me. So I’ll cherish this memory.

“But still… it’s surprising to see Seraph being this friendly.”

Kirisaki observed Seraph and nodded in admiration.

“…Hasn’t she always been like this? Or is it different?”

“Usually, she keeps a certain distance from people.”

…Yeah, that’s just how Seraph is. She comes from a fairly privileged family, a lineage that’s produced upper-rank angels. It’s almost like nobility. Because of this, she’s had many people approach her with ulterior motives from a young age. So she rarely shows her true feelings. The only people she truly opens up to are Kirisaki and Luminous.

…One of Seraph’s charms is that as her affection level increases, she starts acting a bit selfish. And it’s incredibly cute. 

In other words… I guess Seraph’s affection level is already quite high now.

“Is that so? I don’t know that side of Seraph.”

Although I knew about this from the game, I had never seen this distant version of Seraph since arriving here.

After a moment of thought, Kirisaki spoke up.

“She was really grateful. When you were brought to the Union, she said, ‘Please make sure to save him; he worked so hard for us.’ I think that’s why she’s so thankful.”

……So it’s because of how we first met.

That situation was completely my fault. But since it ended with me saving Seraph, maybe she saw me as some kind of hero.

If that’s the reason her affection level started off so high, then I guess it makes sense.

“Luminous-sama also seems to trust you, Takigawa-sama… That’s rare. Luminous-sama has a lot on her plate. So please support her as well.”

….Martha’s gentle smile was full of motherly affection. It gave off a sisterly or even maternal vibe.

.…Luminous has her own complicated family matters too.

Her family is a respected demon lineage. If you consider Seraph’s family equivalent to a marquis, then Luminous’s family is like a viscount’s.

Luminous is the most talented individual her family’s ever produced, and they have placed enormous expectations on her. Despite this, she’s constantly losing to Seraph. And it seems there’s quite a bit of pressure coming from her family because of it.

That’s why she doesn’t have time to worry about others.

That difference in pressure shows in how they act at school. Luminous tends to keep her distance, while Seraph at least engages with others on the surface. Though, to be fair, Seraph doesn’t truly open up to many people either.

As you get closer to either Seraph or Luminous and progress through their storylines, you end up getting involved in their family issues.

But that’s the protagonist’s job. I’m just a background character, so I don’t plan to get involved.

“…….Well, I’ll do what I can.”

Though I gave a vague answer, Martha didn’t seem dissatisfied and smiled softly, as if trusting that I would help if anything came up.

I’m not someone capable of doing that much.

I’m just a mob character who wants to enjoy this world’s game story.
