If either Luminous or Seraph dies, it would be a huge problem.

The reason I came to this Tenma City is to see the story I love up close.  

Seraph and the others rushed into a nearby abandoned building to evade the Kyōjū.  

They entered inside and went into a nearby room.  

Just as I began to feel a little more at ease, Luminous set me down on the ground.

She was drenched in sweat. And under normal circumstances, I would have probably thought something like, “Luminous’s sweat is so cute!”

If I hadn’t been here, they would have fled together, and someone who arrived would have defeated the Kyōjū.  

“No… it was my fault for walking around at night. You two have nothing to do with this.”  

“…You helped us earlier, so you’re quite kind, aren’t you?”

It’s all my fault, but I can’t explain that because it was like this in the game, so it’s frustrating.  

Seraph mistakenly thinks I’m just a kind person.  

I’m not that kind of person.  

I’m not a kind person; I’m a perverted one.  

I can only avert my gaze from her pure, innocent eyes.  

“…Seraph. Is there still no sign of help coming?”  

When Luminous asked anxiously, Seraph calmly checked her smartphone without losing her composure.  

“I’ve contacted them, but it seems it will take some time for them to arrive. What about you, Luminous?”  

“It’s similar on this end. It’s the worst situation…”  

The Kyōjū is probably still searching for us.  

If it attacks us next, the three of us won’t stand a chance.  

That’s why I had to make a decision.  

“…It’s my fault. I dragged you two into this by wandering around this night city. So—”  

I clenched my fists and, despite my hesitation, spoke the words.  

“—Leave me behind. If you two can be saved, that’s enough.”  

Of course, I’m scared of dying.  

But… even so, if it means saving the two of them, then that would be my wish.  

I genuinely wanted to see this world’s story play out in real life, but it can’t be helped.  

However, in response to my words, Luminous shot me a fierce glare.  

“…I can’t just leave behind the person who helped me and run away!”  

“No, if I hadn’t been walking around the city at night in the first place, this wouldn’t have happened.”  

“That doesn’t matter! Right now, we need to come up with a plan for all of us to escape!”  

Luminous scolded me sharply.  

…Well, I understood that neither Luminous nor Seraph were the type of characters who would sacrifice someone to survive.  

Even so, I would have preferred it if they had just left me behind and escaped.  

…A plan for the three of us to survive, huh?  

To be honest… it’s not impossible.  

With my knowledge of the main game and my involvement in creating various settings, I know how to break this situation.  

That is—making a contract with either Seraph or Luminous.  

If I do that, I can gain the power to fight the Kyōjū. And I should be able to stand against that monster.  

But… but!  

That would create a significant problem by further distorting the story!  

Originally, it’s the protagonist of the main game, Kamishiro Sho, who is supposed to make a contract with either Seraph or Luminous.  

In other words, if I make a contract with either of them, it would have a huge impact on the story.  

If that happens, I might distort this world I love with my own hands.  

I can’t deny that the idea of potentially engaging with Seraph and Luminous, whom I could never have reached, is somewhat appealing…  

But I don’t want to change the story!  

I just want to watch the original characters enjoying themselves!  

As I was caught in such complex inner turmoil, Luminous looked at my face.  

“Did you… think of something?”  

“No, um, well…”  

The issue isn’t just a personal one for me.  

I’m also worried that by making a contract with either of them, the story could change drastically.  

But… as long as the two of them won’t abandon me and run away… there’s also the possibility of total annihilation here.  

I opened my mouth, resigning myself to the expectant gazes of the two.  

“…I was thinking that if I made a contract with one of you, I might be able to fight the Kyōjū.”  

When I said that, Seraph and Luminous exchanged glances before shaking their heads.  

“…Ah, I see. That won’t work; both Seraph and I are still low-level.”  

“…Yes. I’m sorry, but we don’t have the power to form a contract yet.”  

With a small bow, Seraph lowered her head.
