I Reincarnated as Just a Mob in an Eroge World, but the Heroines Are Swarming Me - Episode 40
Episode 40
I woke up in the early morning, when it was still dim outside.
Faint birdsong reached my ears from outside, and the first rays of sunlight filtered through the window.
I considered going for a morning jog. But as I tried to move, I felt something unusual.
My body felt oddly heavy.
In my blurry vision, I caught sight of soft, golden hair swaying gently.
……Seraph.
Seraph was sleeping soundly, clinging to me as if I were a body pillow.
Her slender arms were wrapped around my back, and even her legs were tangled with mine.
Her warm breath brushed against me as she peacefully snored, pressed tightly against my body.
…… I can’t move.
I recalled last night—Seraph had slipped under my futon—and now, even though I struggled, I couldn’t budge an inch.
Her soft, warm body was pressed against me. And honestly, it felt pretty comfortable.
I couldn’t complain. In fact, it felt like a situation that made me want to shout, “Thank you very much!”
“Ugh…”
When I tried to move, Seraph adjusted her position, as if to stop me.
Every time her silky hair brushed my shoulders, a faint, pleasant scent tickled my nose.
As much as I wanted to savor this moment, Luminous suddenly stirred from a nearby bed.
… She must have woken up to use the bathroom. She rubbing her sleepy eyes as she shuffled out of the room.
She returned shortly afterward, looking slightly more awake. Her eyes swept the room.
Our eyes met. Then her gaze shifted between Seraph and me, and her face froze in shock.
“… W-Wait a minute, Takigawa…? W-Why are you sleeping with Seraph!?”
“… I don’t know. I just woke up like this. Help me out here.”
I added a small lie. If I told the truth, Luminous would probably get mad.
Not that it mattered. Luminous puffed out her cheeks and glared at me.
“W-What? What’s with that look?”
When I nervously asked, Luminous sighed lightly. Her face flushed slightly as she spoke.
“What do you mean, ‘what’? What are you doing!? This early in the morning, no less!”
Her voice wavered as she gestured at Seraph, still clinging to me.
“Well… Seraph kind of did this on her own…”
“Don’t make excuses! What’s wrong with both of you!?”
“… No, it’s not like that—”
“D-Did you already pick a name for the baby!?”
Hey, we didn’t do anything!
Luminous’ face turned beet red as her imagination ran wild. She fidgeted awkwardly, alternating glances between me and Seraph.
… I had no choice. I’d have to wake Seraph, even though she looked so peaceful.
“… Seraph, wake up,”
I said, gently shaking her shoulder.
She remained fast asleep, a serene and utterly adorable expression on her face.
“… Mmm… Takigawa-san… Don’t touch there… That’s naughty…”
Hey! Don’t talk in your sleep like that!
“Seraph! Enough already! Stop clinging to Takigawa first thing in the morning!”
“Are you implying it’s fine as long as it’s not morning?”
Her voice came out calm and composed even though she had just woken up.
Wait a minute… She’d been awake all along?!
Seraph suddenly opened her eyes and directed the question at Luminous. Startled, Luminous seemed momentarily overwhelmed before shaking her head.
“N-No, it’s not fine any time of day! This is improper!”
… Well, considering how many risqué scenes Luminous has in the game, I wanted to tell her not to be so nitpicky.
Then again, maybe that doesn’t count as “improper” in her view.
“This isn’t improper at all. Right, Takigawa-san?”
“… Well, yeah. We were just having a life counseling session, that’s all.”
“… W-What do you mean by that?”
“We were discussing the future of the Union together.”
“…Really? You never talked to *me* about it, but you’ll talk to Seraph.”
…Oh no.
Luminous has always been second to Seraph and sees her as a fierce rival.
Hearing it phrased like that, of course, it wouldn’t sit well with Luminous.
I should probably explain what we actually talked about last night.
“To be precise, Seraph was worried about me. From spring break until now, we’ve been going non-stop with setting up the Union, right? She was concerned about whether I was okay with everything.”
“……….Were you? Were you against it?”
“No, not at all. I was just telling her how much fun I’m having working with you and Seraph.”
“…Hmph. I see. So why were you sleeping together, then?”
………….I can’t explain that one.
I looked to Seraph for help, and she smiled softly.
“That’s because I wanted to use him as a body pillow.”
“…Honestly. For a moment, I thought you two were… doing *something* last night.”
“And what exactly do you mean by *something*?”
“That’s not important! Just—just get off him already!”
Luminous grabbed Seraph and pulled her off of me, practically peeling her away.
…Not that I disliked the closeness, but I had training to get to anyway.
“I’m heading out for a jog.”
“…Fine. Do your best in training.”
“Training…”
The voice responding was Kirisaki’s, as she suddenly sat up at the mention of the word.
She glanced over at us and then grinned mischievously.
“Combat training, is it?”
“Nope. Go back to sleep.”
“I’m coming with you.”
…Kirisaki stretched her arms wide and fully woke up.
“…It’s just a jog, you know?”
“Yup, I’m coming.”
Stop looking at me with those expectant eyes. Jeez.
After changing into training gear, we headed out for our morning training session.
