I Reincarnated as Just a Mob in an Eroge World, but the Heroines Are Swarming Me - Episode 46
Episode 46
Morning.
While jogging and practicing magic as usual, I furrowed my brow at the sound of a siren echoing through the city.
…This sound, typically used to signal disasters, carries another meaning in this game world.
It signifies the occurrence of a Void Shadow Incursion.
However, the Void Shadow Incursion is supposed to occur on May 5th… and there are still nearly two weeks until then.
I had planned to return to Tenma City by next week with plenty of time to spare.
So why is this happening now?
Is there some distortion in the timeline leading up to the game’s main story?
If I had to guess the cause… it’s me, isn’t it?
By leveling up in the Shizuho Dungeon, I might have triggered some change within it. It resulted in this Void Shadow Incursion.
For now, I need to get back to the inn.
As I ran toward it, Seraph came rushing toward me, clearly distressed.
“Takigawa-san! Thank goodness… you’re here!”
Her breathing was uneven, and a faint sheen of sweat glistened on her forehead.
She must have hurried here as fast as she could.
Holding her chest, she gasped for air.
“Seraph… What happened?”
I could more or less predict her answer.
Even as she struggled to catch her breath, Seraph began explaining in a panicked tone.
“The Shizuho Dungeon… A Void Shadow Incursion has occurred. Kyoeis and evolved forms of them, Kyōjūs, have emerged into the city!”
“…I see.”
A Void Shadow Incursion from the Shizuho Dungeon, huh?
I had considered the possibility that it’s just Kyoeis escaping from other dungeons. But it seems that wasn’t the case.
“We need to evacuate immediately. That’s why I came to get you. Let’s head back to the inn.”
“…Yeah, let’s do that.”
…..Right.
I’m still just a rookie Soul Binder, so my role is to evacuate.
Though I had a lot on my mind, I wasn’t planning to get deeply involved in events that might impact the main game storyline.
Apologizing to Kirisaki in my heart, I was about to head toward the inn when—
“…!”
Seraph’s eyes widened in shock.
Several Kyoeis descended from the sky, blocking our path.
“””Shaaaah!”””
…They must be harpy-type Kyoeis.
The shrieking harpies all lunged at Seraph at once.
Stepping forward to shield her, I channeled magical energy into my gloves.
As the harpies closed in, I struck one with my fist.
My punch was enhanced by a powerful burst of acceleration. It landed squarely.
The creature dissipated like mist, vanishing completely.
However, two harpies remained.
I quickly spun my body, channeling magic into my boots and delivering a fierce kick.
“Move!”
As the kick connected, a wave of magical energy swept through the shadows, sending them flying.
One of them was destroyed in the attack, but the other barely managed to survive.
I finished it off with a bolt of lightning magic, piercing its body.
“…Amazing.”
This was Seraph’s first time seeing me fight after I had grown stronger.
As she looked at me in awe, I addressed her.
“Seraph, let’s get back to the inn.”
“…Right.”
Seraph ran beside me, and together we sprinted toward the inn.
Fortunately, we weren’t attacked by any other shadows, and we managed to return safely.
—
At the inn’s entrance, we found Yoshiko-san, Luminous, and Martha-san.
Yoshiko-san and Luminous looked worried, while Martha-san stood ready with her sword.
Martha-san exhaled in relief when she saw me, but Luminous hurried toward us in alarm.
“Takigawa! Seraph! Are you both okay?!”
“Somehow… Are you guys alright?”
“We’re fine, but… the Kyoeis are spreading throughout the city. Honestly, it’s dangerous.”
Luminous’ words deepened my unease.
At that moment, Martha-san spoke quietly.
“Everyone, I have an update from the Shizuho City authorities… This Void Shadow Incursion is far beyond our expectations. With the current forces, defeating them is nearly impossible.”
Silence fell over the group at Martha’s grim announcement.
“Therefore, the city has ordered all residents to evacuate immediately. Takigawa-sama, Seraph-sama, Luminous-sama, we must leave the city by car right away.”
Under normal circumstances, the predicted level of Void Shadow Incursion would have been manageable with the city’s expected forces.
But this event far exceeded those projections.
…And this is precisely why Kirisaki, arriving as a rescue force, annihilates the invaders and solidifies her reputation as the strongest.
I had no intention of interfering with that.
“…Understood. Let’s prepare to leave immediately.”
As we began preparing to evacuate, my phone suddenly vibrated.
……It’s from Kirisaki.
With various emotions swirling inside me, I brought my phone to my ear.
The voice that came through was different from usual—there was a hint of urgency in it.
She must have already heard about the situation in Shizuho City.
“Takigawa!? …Are you alright!?”
“We’re somehow alright, but…”
“I… I see. Are you still… in Shizuho City?”
I could tell Kirisaki let out a sigh of relief. But her next words were quickly followed by a sound that seemed like tears.
