“…Yeah.”  

“I just got a call from my father… He said he might die.”  

Kirisaki’s voice came through, trembling with tears. Her words were stuttered, as if she were barely holding it together. It was clear that she was under immense pressure.  

“He said he’s going to fight for the city… I’m hurrying to Shizuho City, but… I won’t make it in time…”  

I understood what Kirisaki was trying to say.  

“Please… buy me some time.”  

Her desperate voice made me clench my teeth.  

“Please… please, help the people of the city… Help my father…! I promise I’ll rush there as soon as I can!”  

It was unlike Kirisaki to show such raw emotion. I could tell how serious the situation was.  

I didn’t intend to get deeply involved in the main game storyline.  

…Even with Seraph and Luminous, I had planned to distance myself from their Union at some point.  

At the very least, by the time the main game began, I was aiming to only be acquaintances with them.  

But… remembering Kirisaki, who had fought alongside me and laughed with me, I couldn’t just coldly cut everything off.  

Originally, my role wasn’t to save Shizuho City. In the main game, Shizuho City was supposed to collapse at one point.  

I couldn’t just interfere and change the flow of the story… that was the plan.

I recalled the image of Kirisaki, who wasn’t a character in a game but someone I had fought alongside and laughed with.  

“Come quickly.”  

That was all I said before hanging up the call.  

“Takigawa-san…? What was that call about?”  

Seraph asked, looking concerned. I turned my gaze toward her.  

…How should I respond? With Luminous, Martha-san, and Yoshiko-san also looking at me, I slowly opened my mouth.  

“It seems Kirisaki is heading this way… If we can buy her some time, Shizuho City might still have a chance.”  

“…Does that mean… you’re planning to fight to suppress the Void Shadow Incursion?”  

Seraph raised her voice in surprise, and Luminous immediately shouted.  

“No, that’s impossible…! Even though you’ve gotten stronger, you’re still a rookie Soul Binder!?”  

“Well, I might not be able to do it alone, but there are still people fighting to suppress it.”  

“…I-I mean, even so…”  

“Besides, if I fight here, it’ll be good publicity for the Union, right?”

Luminous struggled to find the right words, her throat catching.  

“……..Do you have a chance of winning?”  

“Yeah.”  

I nodded confidently, and Seraph swallowed her words. She then looked at Martha-san and the others.  

After a moment, Seraph slowly spoke.  

“…Please, make sure to come back.”  

“Seraph!”  

“…The job of a Soul Binder is to hunt Kyoeis. That doesn’t change, no matter how much of a rookie you are.”  

“But… still…”  

“…The job of a Union leader is to trust their contract Soul Binders and send them out.”  

Seraph fixed her gaze on Luminous, who wiped away the tears that had formed. She then looked at me.  

“I really want you to stop. I want you to evacuate with us, but… please, make sure to come back.”  

“Yeah, I understand. Martha-san, please evacuate to Tenma City with the others.”  

“…Understood. How will you be traveling, Takigawa-san?”  

The Kyoeis hadn’t reached the inn yet. But based on the state of collapse in the main game, this place was already a danger zone.  

“I’ll head out on the bike in the garden. Do you have the key?”  

There was a big bike in the garden that looked like it belonged to the inn.  

As I thought that, Yoshiko-san approached me and handed me the key.  

“…Huh?”  

“It’s mine. Feel free to use it.”  

I was probably more surprised by this than anything else that day.  

I didn’t have a driver’s license, but I could ride a bike thanks to my memories from my past life.  

Well, since students at Soulwing Academy often receive special assignments, there’s no age limit for getting a license.

I started the bike Yoshiko-san gave me and headed toward Shizuho Dungeon.  

Along the way, I used magic to fend off the attacking Kyoeis, moving straight toward my destination.  

A Void Shadow Incursion always has a boss that causes it.  

That boss temporarily suppresses the dungeon’s seal, allowing the Kyoeis to escape freely.  

In other words, if we take down the boss holding the seal, the dungeon’s seal will return to normal… and this situation can be resolved.  

Kirisaki’s arrival would likely take at least forty minutes, even in the best case.  

To minimize damage, it would be better to take out the boss, even if it’s a little dangerous.  

The area near Shizuho Dungeon was in a terrible state.  

The peaceful town’s scenery has been destroyed, and piles of rubble and corpses are brutally stacked up.  

The fallen Soul Binders… it’s hard to tell whether they’re still breathing or not.  

Among the people who couldn’t escape in time, some seem to have been devoured by the Kyoeis.  

…I need to hurry.
