I Reincarnated as Just a Mob in an Eroge World, but the Heroines Are Swarming Me - Episode 54
Episode 54
(Kirisaki Mizuki’s Perspective)
“Mizuki…”
Hearing my father’s voice, I lifted my head.
I was sitting alone on a sofa in the hospital hallway where Takigawa had been brought in. The corridor was quiet, with no one else around.
…..Both Seraph and Luminas had accompanied me to the hospital, but I wanted to be alone for now.
I glanced at my father briefly before dropping my gaze back to the floor. He sat down next to me.
My father had also been injured during the Void Shadow Incursion of the Shizuho Dungeon. Thanks to healing magic, most of his wounds seemed to have healed. Though traces of the ordeal lingered.
While I was relieved that he was safe, I couldn’t ignore the cost.
“It’s about Takigawa-kun, isn’t it?”
Father’s eyes shifted toward the treatment room.
……Even now, Takigawa was still undergoing treatment. Healers capable of using recovery magic had gathered from far and wide, taking turns to ensure his care.
“If he hadn’t been there… the number of casualties among the Soul Binders would have been far greater.”
“But… because of that, Takigawa…”
It was my fault for asking too much of him. I had relied on his kindness, even though I despised doing so.
…I hated how people always depended on me. I was stronger than anyone else—invincible.
Even so, there were moments when I wished I could lean on someone. But no one had ever been there for me.
Yet despite disliking how others constantly relied on me, I had pushed that same burden onto Takigawa.
I recalled the sight of him when I arrived.
His body was covered in blood, riddled with wounds.
All because of my selfish request—
A heavy, dark emotion spread through my chest, clinging to me like a suffocating fog.
“Mizuki… Takigawa-kun’s injuries will heal. The healers are doing everything they can.”
………I wasn’t so sure.
To survive such devastating wounds was already miraculous.
I had fought many battles, seen people gravely injured like Takigawa, and…
…those people didn’t always make it.
“It’s my fault… I pushed him too hard…”
When I whispered my feelings aloud, my father gently rubbed my back. His kindness brought tears to my eyes, and I let them flow.
“I… I didn’t want to lose you, Dad. That’s why… I leaned on Takigawa. But… I didn’t want to lose him either…”
I had believed that Takigawa wouldn’t die.
He was strong and carried that extraordinary power I’d been searching for.
He was someone I thought I could rely on… someone who made me believe it was okay to depend on him.
“…He knows that. I’m sure Takigawa-kun understands.”
“But…”
At that moment, the treatment room doors opened. And a group of people emerged, wheeling Takigawa out on a stretcher.
I stepped forward and called out to the lead doctor.
“Is Takigawa… is he okay!?”
“The treatment is complete.”
“…He’s alive?”
“Yes. His heart is still beating… But the injuries he sustained are severe. It’s hard to say when he’ll wake up. Additionally, given the extent of the Kyōjū attacks, there’s a high likelihood his soul has been severely damaged… There’s a chance he may suffer from lasting aftereffects.”
“No…”
I had seen others who had fought Kyoeis and Kyōjūs and ended up with aftereffects.
Some lost their ability to move, others suffered memory impairments…
If Takigawa were to face such consequences—
But at least… he was alive.
Watching him being wheeled toward his hospital room, I stared intently, refusing to look away.
“…Thank goodness. It seems he’s pulled through, at least for now,”
Father said with a sigh of relief.
I nodded.
“…Yeah. As long as he’s alive, that’s all that matters. If anything happens from here on out… I’ll take care of everything for him.”
“…Mizuki?”
“I’ll help him. Takigawa saved my family and relatives. This time, I’ll do everything for him. I’ll make sure he can live without any inconvenience. I’ll take care of him completely.”
Since this happened because of my request, I had to take responsibility.
I didn’t want to force him to do anything ever again. If his body couldn’t handle something, I would do it for him.
…I imagined pushing Takigawa in a wheelchair, supporting him at every step. The thought didn’t seem so bad.
In the future, we’d get married, have a few children… I’d always be by his side, taking care of him.
Starting today, I would become Mizuki Takigawa.
“M-Mizuki, your face looks a little intense… Don’t get carried away…”
“Thank you, Dad. I’m going to Takigawa’s room now.”
“Well, that’s fine, but… don’t get any strange ideas…”
“I won’t. I’m just going to warm the bed where he’ll be sleeping. Then I’ll prepare everything he needs for his stay… I’ll handle it all.”
“……Right.”
My father seemed to accept my words, remaining silent as he closed his mouth.
Without hesitation, I started walking, ready to take action immediately.
