I Supported My Fiancé for 10 Years After He Said, 'Let's Get Married When I Succeed,' but When He Finally Did, He Dumped Me. By the Way, I'm a Witch and Turning 30 Next Year!! - Episode 20
I barely escaped with my life. Finally making it back to the former herbal witch’s house, I let out a sigh of relief.
“I can’t believe I ran into a Poison Spider while it was raising its young. What bad luck.”
I hugged Merv Maple tightly and apologized for not noticing earlier.
“It couldn’t be helped. The web was invisible.”
“I see.”
Apparently, Merv Maple had been collecting the Poison Spider’s venomous silk.
“If I remove the poison like this, it becomes transparent.”
Merv Maple washed the venom off with well water and rubbed some Red Snake Grass on it. This removed the poison.
The Poison Spider’s silk was colorless and transparent, shimmering in the sunlight.
“Can this be used for something?”
“Yes. It can be used as an ingredient for potions.”
If the poison was properly processed, the silk could be used to create a high-grade painkiller.
Since Merv Maple was immune to the Poison Spider’s venom, he had managed to bring all of it back.
“I’ll remove the poison for you.”
His eyes were firm and determined.
I had wanted to learn the process myself, but seeing his unwavering gaze filled with a sense of duty, I decided to let him handle it this time.
Once the venomous silk was processed, we washed our faces and hands with well water and got ready for lunch.
We had planned to eat by the lake, but after the unexpected Poison Spider attack, I lost all motivation to eat outside.
Instead, we returned to the former herbal witch’s house and ate at the dining table.
I made fresh juice from fruit for Merv Maple.
While he happily drank it, I ate a ham and cheese sandwich I had brought from home.
For my drink, I had prepared herbal tea in a magic thermos with heat-retention properties. When I opened the lid, steam rose into the air.
Placing my ham and cheese sandwich near the thermos opening, the steam warmed the bread, making it soft and moist.
“The heat melts the cheese, making it so delicious~!”
I couldn’t help but think that eating at home was always the best.
After finishing our meal, we cleaned up.
Fairies lived in the house and helped keep it clean, but every time I visited, I made sure to wipe the windows and scrub the floors before leaving.
Once I had finished everything I wanted to do, I called out to the spirits and fairies in the house.
“Take care of my mentor, okay?”
Then, I returned to the Holy City through the magic mirror.
Back home, it was time to make herbal soap.
I took the soda stone I had collected today and put it into a magical pulverizer to grind it into powder.
If I had tried to do this by hand, it would have been a nightmare. That’s why, when Ie arranged for the herbal soap to be delivered to the Holy Ministry, I decided to buy the pulverizer.
For the record, I had to take on debt to buy it, but I’ve since paid it off.
The main ingredient for herbal soap was oil extracted from the fruit of the Olivier herb.
Olivier herb oil helps retain skin moisture, removes dead skin cells, and even reduces fine wrinkles, improving overall skin texture.
Additionally, Olivier herb oil is resistant to oxidation and heat, making it perfect for soap that needs to be stored for long periods.
Merv Maple offered to be my assistant for the soap-making process.
“Alright, let’s do this!”
“I’ll do my best!”
First, we put on protective glasses, covered our mouths with cloth tied securely at the back, and wore gloves.
Handling soda stone is dangerous, so we had to be properly protected.
I started by preparing purified water in a glass bowl, then gradually added measured amounts of soda stone powder.
Merv Maple stirred it carefully with a glass rod, his expression focused.
As we mixed, the water’s temperature steadily rose.
If we had poured water into the soda stone powder instead, the temperature would have spiked dangerously, so we had to be careful.
Next, we warmed the Olivier herb oil using a double boiler.
Once the oil reached the same temperature as the soda solution, we slowly combined them.
Using a whisk, we stirred the mixture in circular motions.
As it thickened, we added essential oil extracted from Olivier herb leaves and mixed it further before pouring it into a rectangular mold.
Normally, soap would need to dry and mature for several months, but since this was a witch’s soap—
“Dry completely, Full Dry!”
After drying, it was time for the aging process.
“Deepen, Aging!”
The finished herbal soap was a deep green color, carrying the faint scent of a grassy meadow.
It didn’t have the luxurious fragrance of trendy soaps, but I was confident in its cleansing power.
“Yes, it turned out well.”
Now, all that was left was to cut the herbal soap and wrap it in wax paper to prepare it for sale.
Holding the soap in my hands, I recalled my conversation with Saint Sui.
She had mentioned wanting to deliver her handmade soap to the Holy Ministry…
I had already reported the matter to Ie, so if anything developed, she would likely let me know.
For now, today’s work was done.
Feeling exhausted, I decided to take a warm bath, enjoy a delicious meal, and go to bed early.
