I Supported My Fiancé for 10 Years After He Said, 'Let's Get Married When I Succeed,' but When He Finally Did, He Dumped Me. By the Way, I'm a Witch and Turning 30 Next Year!! - Episode 22
At this point, I decided to sell the herbal soap directly at the counter. But when I started selling, the result was completely unexpected.
Today, as always, the pharmacy stays open thanks to its regular customers.
Just a few minutes after the innkeeper left, Wei, a young grocer from the market, arrived.
“Witch, can you give me the usual medicine?”
“Welcome, Wei. The usual four, right?”
“Yeah, please.”
While wrapping the potion, I noticed Wei looking idle, so I decided to offer him the herbal soap.
“By the way, aren’t you running low on herbal soap? How about getting some?”
“Ah, actually, I already bought a new one.”
“Oh, I see.”
Wei was a huge fan of the herbal soap, even saying, ‘This is the only soap I’ll ever use!’ But now, he bought a different one?
“Did you find a similar herbal soap somewhere else?”
“No, it’s some kind of foaming soap called… something bubble soap. It lathers really well.”
That sounded familiar.
“Did you buy it from a beautiful woman with rose-pink hair and emerald-green eyes?”
Wei didn’t confirm, but his face clearly said, ‘How did you know!?’
“Where did you buy it?”
“Uh… the day before yesterday, just before noon, in front of the inn across the street.”
“Hmmm.”
It seems he bought the soap from Saint Sui on the same day as the innkeeper.
“I mean, she said it was the kind of luxury soap that noble ladies use, but at a trial price cheaper than herbal soap. I thought my daughters would be happy with it.”
“I see.”
Why is she specifically targeting my regular customers? I couldn’t help but hold my head in frustration.
“Haha, well, once we run out of this soap, I’ll buy herbal soap next time.”
“Yes, please do.”
I forced a smile as I saw him off, then let out a huge sigh.
On good days, I could easily sell twenty herbal soaps a day, but today wasn’t looking great.
I had thought it was just a coincidence that Saint Sui was selling soap to my regulars, but by the time I saw three or four of them buy from her just in the morning, it was getting suspicious.
While sighing, another customer arrived—Ie.
“Hello, shopkeeper.”
“Welcome, Ie.”
Seeing Ie made me feel relieved. But because of my growing suspicion, I couldn’t help but ask—
“Um, Ye, you haven’t bought Saint Sui’s soap, have you?”
“Of course not.”
His words were gentle, yet firm, and I let out a sigh of relief.
“What’s the matter with her soap?”
“Actually, a lot of my regulars seem to be buying it. The innkeeper even bought twenty pieces. He had reserved twenty herbal soaps from me last month, but he canceled.”
“That’s terrible.”
I gestured towards the herbal soap on the counter, and Ie said something unexpected.
“If you don’t mind, may I buy twenty pieces?”
“Oh no, I couldn’t let you do that. Don’t worry, I’m sure they’ll sell soon.”
“But won’t they become excess stock?”
He was right. I had been enthusiastic yesterday and made a lot of herbal soap. Now, it was piled high in the shop and stored in the basement. The next delivery to the Holy Ministry was still far off, so for now, they were just sitting there.
“Actually, I was thinking of giving a gift to someone I owe. I believe they’d appreciate herbal soap.”
“Would someone really be happy with twenty bars of the same soap?”
“Yes. This person is passionate about charity work, so they’d probably take some to an orphanage too.”
If that’s the case, then maybe it’s fine for him to buy them. But I still felt bad about it.
I thought about how to repay his kindness, and then—an idea struck me.
“I know! I’ll throw in ten free lunch vouchers!”
“That would put you in the red.”
“It’s fine! Running the lunch service is more of a personal hobby anyway. Plus, I’d be happy if you came to eat.”
“Shopkeeper…”
Ie hesitated at first but eventually accepted the free lunch vouchers.
“I made some delicious food today. If you have time, why don’t you stay and eat?”
“I’d love to.”
And so, we ended up having lunch together again.
Hearing Ie say that everything tasted great made me happy.
After he finished eating, I walked him to the door.
Carrying twenty bars of herbal soap made for quite a heavy load.
“Are you okay? I could have it delivered to your workplace.”
“I’m fine. I may not look it, but I’m strong.”
As I saw him off, a voice suddenly called out from behind me.
“Rei, are you bringing that man into your shop again?”
I turned around—and there stood Rymer.
He had arrived in the white armor I had bought for him.
He dramatically removed his helmet, ran a hand through his hair, and gave me a smug look. Just seeing his face annoyed me.
“Rymer, what do you want?”
“Is that how you greet a holy knight? I’m just patrolling the town!”
“Hmm.”
Patrolling the town was usually done by regular knights. Holy knights were supposed to guard the Holy Church.
Maybe he got punished for falsely claiming to be Saint Sui’s personal guard and was now forced to do patrol duty?
I wanted to ask, but I knew he’d start yelling in front of the shop, so I held back.
“Anyway, what’s your relationship with that guy? Don’t tell me… after I dumped you, you were so lonely that you went to that filthy man for comfort—”
What the hell was he saying?
Before he could finish his nonsense, SLAP!—I smacked Rymer hard across the cheek.
