- Chapter 1 - Instant Surrender
A sharp pain spread through her chest.
Su Cheng’s eyelids felt heavy—she couldn’t open them. She tried to move a little, but the pain tore through her chest, making her let out a muffled groan.
She noticed something strange—there seemed to be gloves on her hands, and the clothes she was wearing were stiff and tight, nothing like her usual loose pajamas. It felt more like some kind of uniform.
Wasn’t she supposed to be sleeping at home? Why was she dressed like this?
Her chest felt like someone had shot her. Even the smallest movement made the pain unbearable. If this was a dream, it was way too real.
She sniffed the air—and to her surprise, she could actually smell bl00d…
“Huh? She got shot by Yue Xi, and she’s still alive?”A strange woman’s voice was heard from a short distance away..
Is she still alive?
Did she really… get shot?
Su Cheng’s mind was a mess. Only after hearing that woman speak did she finally realize that she had been bleeding this whole time. She clenched her teeth, raised her hand, and pressed it against her chest. The moment she did, warm bl00d instantly soaked through the glove.
Her breathing grew rough. Every breath felt like her chest was being torn open. It hurt so much she forgot to cry.
She used all her strength to crack her eyes open just a bit. Her blurred vision showed a dark night, and on the ground… several dead bodies were lying in a messy heap, and there’s bl00d everywhere.
What the hell was going on?
This place definitely wasn’t her home. It looked like some deserted mountain area. Could it be… she got kidnapped?
But kidnappers usually ask for ransom first, not just skip straight to murder!
“Cough…” The moment she opened her mouth, bl00d spilled out. It dripped down from her mask onto her collar. “Whatever you want… I can give it to you…”
Though honestly, she didn’t have any money.
“Oh? Didn’t you act all stubborn just now?” Another female voice spoke up. It was cold, calm, and beautiful, with a bit of mockery hidden in her tone.
Su Cheng struggled to lift her head and tried to see the person speaking. In her blurry sight, a tall woman dressed in black was slowly walking toward her, holding a long gun.
The woman’s long mink coat swayed gently with each step—graceful, almost like she was walking through a field of flowers.
She stopped in front of Su Cheng and elegantly bent down. With one pale finger, she lifted Su Cheng’s chin. Her breath was cool and fragrant. “But all I want… is your life.”
Her voice sounded soft and intimate by her ear, but her words made Su Cheng shiver with fear.
As the woman leaned in, a strong herbal scent hit Su Cheng’s nose. But underneath it, she caught a faint trace of something sweet—like mint. The subtle hint of cool scent ignited within her, erasing the fear from her heart. It felt like a lost traveler in the desert finally tasting a drop of spring water.
But it wasn’t enough.
She breathed in deeply, and the gland at the back of her neck started to heat up. That warmth quickly spread through her whole body, giving her a bit of strength out of nowhere.
Her mind grew fuzzy. She thought she smelled something extremely faint coming from her own neck. Then, without thinking, her body threw itself toward the woman in front of her.
“Yue Xi!”
Someone cried out in surprise, but Su Cheng’s brain had stopped working. She didn’t even feel the pain from her wound anymore. All she could feel was the soft, cool body in her arms… and a scent that made her want more.
She couldn’t help but hold the woman tighter, rubbing her face against her neck. She was just about to bite down when she realized—there was still a thin mask covering her face.
Ugh, what the hell? So annoying!
Suddenly, someone yanked her collar hard from behind, pulling her away.
“Yue Xi, are you okay? I think her suppressant stopped working…”
The woman beneath her momentarily froze, then abruptly regained her composure and forcefully pushed Su Cheng away with all her strength.
Su Cheng was pushed away and fell to the ground. The faint mint scent drifted away from her too. Only then did her mind clear up a little.
“Let’s go! People from Longyu are coming!” That unfamiliar voice shouted again, now low and urgent.
Longyu? That name… sounded familiar…
Su Cheng lay on the ground, her consciousness fading fast. In her blurry vision, she saw the two women’s figures slowly disappear. She couldn’t hold on anymore. Her eyelids shut tight, and she passed out completely.
—
“Why has the Vanguard Army been in such low spirits lately? Did something happen?”
“Are you drunk or just dumb? You don’t know this? A while ago, General Chaofeng led a team to search for supplies but got ambushed by Hong Xiu Zhao! I heard they were attacked on the way back. Most of the people she brought died, and the supplies were all stolen!”
“No way! She’s an S-rank warrior of Longyu! She is the strongest close-range fighter in the entire Dawn unit! Who even is this Hong Xiu Zhao to be that powerful?”
“No matter how strong she is, it’s useless. We’re using knives while they’re using guns! They were sniping from far away—no one even saw their faces, and our side was dropping like flies! Even General Chaofeng barely made it out alive. She came back covered in bl00d and spent more than ten days in the medical center just to survive.”
“Ugh… I used to think the Dawn uniform looked cool. I even wanted to work hard to get in. But now? Forget it. Not worth dying for.”
“You think too highly of yourself. Getting into Dawn isn’t something just anyone can do.”
Several civilians in the lower district stood together, chatting while watching the soldiers coming and going from the barracks.
Dawn was a team made up of Longyu’s top elites, selected through intense competition. Only nine members made the cut; all of them were high-grade Alpha warriors. The Lord gave them the code names of the “Nine Sons of the Dragon” and adopted them as his own.
Su Cheng’s codename was Chaofeng.
She was the only S-rank Alpha in the entire Longyu. Her combat strength was off the charts—she could kill gods if they appeared and beat down anything in her way. Her Tang sword was legendary. She could take on a hundred zombies by herself and still walk out alive.
She was cold, wild, and arrogant—so much so that even the Lord gave her respect. She only took on the toughest missions and had never failed—until she met Hong Xiu Zhao.
But now… She had somehow been swapped with a total coward who shared the same name!
Su Cheng still couldn’t figure out what had happened. She just went to sleep and woke up inside this ridiculous apocalypse A/B/O web novel—and as the doomed main character, no less!
Why “doomed”? Because the author actually killed off the protagonist.
Apparently the writer was into tragic heroism, always torturing the lead. Every fight with the villain ended in disaster—missing limbs, near-death experiences… Even if she survived, she was half-dead.
And in the end, when the villain attacked Longyu, the protagonist chose to go down with the enemy.
Su Cheng lay in bed, touching the scar near her heart. Just thinking about it gave her chills.
It had already been two months since that ambush. Her body has now fully recovered—S-rank Alphas really were monsters when it came to healing.
The woman she had run into the moment she transmigrated was—“Yue Xi”—none other than the villain boss in this story: the leader of Hong Xiu Zhao.
That woman was seriously messed up.
She was ruthless, unpredictable, and utterly bipolar. One moment she could be smiling and chatting, and the next she’d put a bullet through your head.
In this world full of zombies, while everyone else was fighting monsters, she was out there killing people, and she only targeted those from Longyu.
Every time Su Cheng contemplated it, she felt a surge of anxiety. She’d really escaped death that time. Right after transmigrating, she had accidentally tackled the villain to the ground…
She let out a long sigh and frowned.
So what now?
The villain was terrifying. Running wasn’t an option. Fighting wasn’t either. She’d have to outsmart her.
While she was deep in thought, someone knocked on the door twice. Then, a fair and slender hand pushed it open.
Mo Mei walked in with her short chestnut hair resting on her shoulders. She had a gentle, graceful air about her. Her eyes were soft and calm as she said, “A’Cheng, the Lord sent someone with a message.”
“Got it, Sis,” Su Cheng replied, walking over to the closet. She pulled out the white Dawn uniform and casually took off her T-shirt, leaving only her undershirt.
Mo Mei blushed, scolding her with a side glance before quickly closing the door.
Seriously… So grown up already, and still stripping casually in front of an Omega like her…
Su Cheng stood in front of the mirror, adjusting her uniform. The reflection showed a strikingly handsome woman with long black hair that flowed down to her waist. Her features were sharp and defined, her eyes cold and fierce.
Her face looked exactly like the one she remembered—except for a dark red flame-shaped tattoo in the center of her forehead. On closer look, it seemed more like a scar disguised as a tattoo. It gave her already stunning face a dangerous edge.
The original owner of this body had always looked cold and gloomy. That poker face, paired with her intimidating vibe, gave off a strong “don’t mess with me” aura.
Back before her secondary gender manifested, she and Mo Mei had lived in the lower district, growing up side by side. They’d suffered a lot together. The scar on her forehead had come from being attacked when they were still kids.
Later, when she was revealed to be an S-rank Alpha, the Lord took notice of her. With her strength, she joined the Dawn—and brought Mo Mei into the upper class with her.
When Su Cheng stepped out in full uniform, Mo Mei’s eyes lit up.
The white military outfit, paired with knee-high boots and a black cloak embroidered with a rising sun, made her look tall and elegant—imposing and sharp.
Mo Mei quickly looked away and tucked her hair behind her ear. “Be careful during your mission, okay? Safety first. Don’t push yourself too hard.”
“Don’t worry,” Su Cheng nodded, secretly thinking, Push myself? No way. I’m doing my best just to stay alive.
When she stepped outside, a soldier was waiting nearby. Su Cheng walked over, copying the original Chaofeng’s icy demeanor.
“What is it?” she asked coldly.
“General Chaofeng.” The soldier saluted respectfully before speaking. “The Lord has summoned Dawn to the barracks. You’re requested to come at once.”
“Understood.” Su Cheng nodded, then strode off, her long legs carrying her forward with cool, commanding grace.
Damn… after hiding for so long, is the plot finally starting?
Ever since she transmigrated, she’d spent two months just recovering. She had no idea where the story was at.
The protagonist always got wrecked in every encounter with the villain. She couldn’t even remember what part of the plot this was.
If this was already the middle or late part of the story… then she might actually die.
The military barracks was the largest structure within Longyu. Its interior facilities were fairly well-equipped, and every soldier was issued a long blade. Due to the shortage of resources, ammunition was scarce—aside from a few commanders, most people still relied on cold weapons.
Su Cheng was the last to arrive at the meeting hall.
Inside the large room, only six people were seated around the massive round table. Including her, there were now seven in total—four men and three women.
With the confirmation of Niu (Qiu Niu)’s death in battle, the Dawn unit remained fully assembled with only one person missing.
It looked like… something big was about to happen.
