- Chapter 11 - Strange Disease
What kind of person is General Chaofeng?
A woman who grew up in the lower district and joined the Vanguard Army at the age of twelve, without differentiation. With her S-level physique and fearless spirit, she overcame all obstacles and gambled with death to join the Dawn.
She was cold and unruly, her domineering pheromones carrying a powerful pressure that sent shivers down one’s spine.
She was wickedly charming and seductive. With just one glance, she could steal the soul of any Omega in the entire Mantingfang, making them willingly become her slave.
Dressed in white, she stood proud against the snow and wind. Her beauty was unmatched—one of a kind in this world.
And yet…
The person in front of them, jumping around while waving a crutch like a husky pulling a sled (no joke), neck stretched forward and full of energy—was this really Chao Feng?
Su Cheng rushed over and grabbed a city guard, panting heavily. “Where’s your commander?!”
The guard’s hat nearly fell off as he was shaken around. Shocked, he stammered, “G-General Fuxi… should be in M-Mantingfang (House of Frangrance) right now…”
Mantingfang?! Damn it! Eating his fill just to flirt with Omegas!
“Give him a message for me,” Su Cheng said coldly. Her blue eyes turned icy, full of threat. “He has three minutes to pull back half of the city guards. If he delays, I’ll crush his gland myself!”
“T-That might not be possible…” The soldier trembled at her look and his legs turning weak—even though she hadn’t even released her pheromones yet.
Su Cheng grabbed his collar and lifted him right off the ground.
“Say one more word and I’ll crush yours first!” she roared, then flung him aside. “Now! Right now!”
“Y-Yes ma’am!” The soldier sprinted toward Mantingfang as if his life depended on it.
Su Cheng pushed her hair back impatiently, throat dry.
Damn it, why had she said ten minutes just now?! What was she thinking?!
Less than a minute later, a figure in a white uniform came speeding across the rooftops and landed in front of her.
“What the hell are you doing?!” the man growled in a low voice. He looked furious but didn’t dare explode. Veins bulged in his neck, and his uniform coat was messily draped over his shoulders.
He had been drinking happily with a young Omega, just about to make his move when one of his men burst through the door in a panic…
Su Cheng frowned and glanced at him coldly. “I’m carrying out a secret mission for my foster father. You just need to follow orders—don’t ask questions.”
Fuxi looked at her up and down, suspicion flickering across his face.
No uniform for a mission? And where the hell did that crutch come from?
She was just wearing a plain T-shirt, her hair slightly messy. But her sharp blue eyes were still the same—like a gaze from the abyss, telling the world: Obey and live, resist and die.
Fuxi suddenly felt pressured.
After a moment, he said, “Fine. I’ll pull back half the troops, but only for an hour. If anything goes wrong, I’m not taking the blame.”
The city guards had two jobs: stop the zombies outside and maintain order inside Longyu. But Longyu was thriving now, so neither task was really urgent. Compared to the frontline army, the guards had been idle for a while.
Besides, he had been beaten up by Chao Feng before. That murderous demon wasn’t someone he could afford to offend. Might as well do her a favor…
Everyone in Po Xiao had their own secrets. They all pretended not to see.
After giving the order, Fuxi cheerfully returned to Mantingfang.
Su Cheng checked the time, then quickly gave detailed instructions to the gate guard. He nodded like a bobblehead, almost pulling out a notebook to take notes.
After rattling off everything, Su Cheng finally asked, “What’s your name?” She was satisfied—he was quick and understood things well.
The guard, still a bit dazed, replied, “52419.”
“Got it. Just watch for my signal later,” Su Cheng said as she waved without looking back. She grabbed her crutch and hopped off cheerfully.
Once she passed through the gates of Longyu, she returned to her usual pace, adjusting her breathing as she headed toward Ling Yuexi.
The night was deep, and the cold wind carried sand through the desolate desert.
Behind a massive boulder not far from Longyu, Hu Ziyuan had hidden their vehicle. After hesitating for a while, she finally asked, “Yuexi, if you hate Longyu so much, why did you come? Su Cheng and I could’ve handled this.”
She just couldn’t understand. Yuexi had followed them despite having a lingering fever. Did she actually fall for Su Cheng? That broken A who couldn’t even mark someone?
Ling Yuexi, wearing her usual smiling mask, didn’t show her expression—but the atmosphere around her turned colder.
Hate? That word was far too light.
She didn’t just hate Longyu—she loathed it to her very core. Just seeing it made her sick. If she had the strength, she’d raze the entire place to the ground and slaughter every Alpha inside.
Because everyone in that city… deserved to die.
“Yuexi? Yuexi?” Hu Ziyuan saw her start to tremble. Her knuckles were white from clenching too tightly. Worried, she reached out and shook her gently.
Her skin felt ice cold.
Hadn’t she been in a good mood the past couple of days? Why was she breaking down again?
Yuexi pulled off her mask irritably, gasping for breath like someone drowning. But the headache only grew worse—like something was crawling inside her skull. She clutched her throbbing temples, rage rising in her chest, eyes fixed on Longyu with deadly intent.
Sensing danger, Pupu threw her arms around Yuexi like an octopus, holding her tightly to stop her from moving. “Ziyuan-jie! She’s having another episode!”
“I’m looking for the meds!” Hu Ziyuan said with trembling hands as she rummaged through her bag, heart pounding.
Hadn’t they been treating her gently? Why was this happening again?
“I can’t hold her much longer…” Pupu clung on desperately, but Yuexi’s strength kept growing, and the armored vehicle was shaking from the struggle.
Hu Ziyuan finally found the pills. The two of them pinned Yuexi down, forced her mouth open, and shoved the medicine in.
Yuexi couldn’t move under their combined strength. She lay there on the seat for a while, until her breathing calmed and her eyes slowly cleared up.
This strange illness always came and went so suddenly.
Hu Ziyuan helped her sit up and gently wiped the sweat from her forehead with a tissue. She said anxiously, “You should really stay in the car and rest. Su Cheng and I will be back soon.”
“No!” Ling Yuexi rejected her flatly and sat up straight, her eyes filled with a fierce light.
“Alright, alright, don’t get worked up! We’ll all go together, but you must keep your emotions under control, or we’re all screwed!” Hu Ziyuan quickly tried to calm her down. She had no idea what kind of fit this little ancestor was throwing today.
“You… you didn’t really fall for Cheng Su, did you?” She thought about it again and could only come up with this possibility.
Ling Yuexi had behaved so well when Cheng Su was around—eating and sleeping on time, not smashing things, not hitting anyone. But as soon as Cheng Su left, not even ten minutes passed before she had another episode.
Ling Yuexi leaned back against the seat and closed her eyes. It took a while before her breathing slowly steadied. With her long lashes casting shadows, her aquamarine eyes were like cold jade glowing faintly. Her voice was calm and cool: “Don’t you think it’s suspicious? Not a single word out of her mouth has been true.”
But wasn’t she the one who insisted on bringing that person back?
Hu Ziyuan silently grumbled to herself. Sure, she’d had doubts before. But she’d later checked Cheng Su’s gland herself. That scab was real—fully fused with the flesh. It wasn’t fake.
A useless defective A had no value. Qing Cang wouldn’t care to keep someone like that around. Escaping the Dragon Domain wasn’t impossible. And if Cheng Su had wanted to hurt Ling Yuexi, she would’ve made her move long ago. Why wait until now?
“She just talks a little dirty, that’s all. Deep down, she really cares about you,” Hu Ziyuan said. Hadn’t she risked sneaking back into the Dragon Territory just to steal medicine for someone?
Ling Yuexi turned her head away with a cold snort, her eyes drifting toward her watch.
Hu Ziyuan: “…”
Is this really just suspicion? Why does she look like a sulking little princess?
By the third time Ling Yuexi checked her watch, someone finally came hopping back, leaning on a cane.
Su Cheng knocked on the window, smiling like a proud puppy asking for praise. “How’s that? I’m punctual, right?”
Damn it. Only heaven knew her left leg was this close to cramping from all the hopping.
The three women in the car acted like nothing had happened.
Ling Yuexi put her mask back on and asked, in a flat voice, “How did it go?”
“Don’t worry. I talked to him. But we only have an hour. Stick close to me. We grab the meds and get out.” Su Cheng opened the door for Ling Yuexi and, as she did, her eyes casually swept over to Hu Ziyuan.
“Why’d you move to the back?” Wasn’t it cramped for the three of them?
Hu Ziyuan avoided her eyes. “I got cold,” she said, quickly grabbing her bag and getting out of the car.
Su Cheng gave her a skeptical glance and noticed her low-cut T-shirt, the pale skin of her chest, and the deep line of cleavage.
Cold? And you’re still wearing that?
“Are you coming or not?” A cold voice suddenly called from ahead, pulling her back from her thoughts.
Ling Yuexi, walking ahead, just happened to turn around—and saw someone staring at Hu Ziyuan with a… not-so-innocent expression.
For some reason, a tight feeling suddenly rose in her chest.
The three of them walked up to the Dragon Territory’s gate. Su Cheng knocked in a “three short, two long” rhythm, acting all mysterious like she was giving some secret code.
A soldier peeked through a crack in the door. “Is that you, 14869?”
Su Cheng put on her best dramatic voice: “Yep, it’s me, 92419! Let us in!”
The soldier’s mouth twitched, but he still opened the gate without saying much.
The three of them filed inside. As they passed, Su Cheng even clapped the soldier’s shoulder with a grin. “Thanks, brother.”
The act had to be complete, right~?
The soldier nodded stiffly and gave a pained smile…
It was so ugly. Worse than crying.
Su Cheng’s eye twitched at the sight. She quickly turned her head away and waved for the others to follow.
Sure enough, there were way fewer patrols. Not even half remained. Looks like Fuxi really got things done.
Ling Yuexi silently glanced at the soldier’s badge before catching up.
Actually, Su Cheng’s original plan was to return to the Dragon Territory alone. Then she could’ve just ordered someone else to grab the medicine—way simpler than this mess.
Even though half the patrol had been pulled back, she still had to worry about running into old “acquaintances”…
So she crept along in the shadows, hunched over and watching every step like a cat burglar. Bit by bit, she made it about halfway to the medical center. She finally let out a breath of relief—then turned around…
And nearly died on the spot.
The space behind her was empty.
The other two were gone.
