- I Transmigrated as the Protagonist and Was Kidnapped by the Villainous Omega
- Chapter 14 - My Sweetheart
The evening breeze lifted a few strands of Ling Yuexi’s silver hair, and in the twilight, her eyes like cold jade glimmered faintly.
Clearly an Omega, yet when speaking, there was an unmistakable air of confidence and dominance in her voice, like they were born to shine as brightly as the sun and moon.
Su Cheng was momentarily captured by that smile. It took her three full seconds to snap out of it.
Wait a second… is she planning to break into someone’s house too?
And it’s someone from Dawn…
Isn’t that way too risky? What if the lights are off because they’re actually asleep?
She quickly ran through the members of Dawn in her mind and suddenly realized—the only person who would normally be at home and asleep at this hour had just gone out today. She had already knocked her out and tossed her in a corner.
“Let’s not go, okay? Could you at least show some pity for a cripple like me…”
Ling Yuexi adjusted her mask and pulled a rope from her backpack. “You stay downstairs. We’re short on time, so we’re only hitting one place.”
Hu Ziyuan’s eyes lit up, rubbing her hands together eagerly. “Whose place?”
“Chaofeng’s?” Isn’t she the strongest in Dawn? She must have a lot of good things at home. Ling Yuexi looked at the person beside her, whose face had turned green. “You know which room she lives in, right?”
I don’t know, I don’t know.” Su Cheng’s mouth twitched, and she shook her head like a rattle-drum.
Oh, come on! How dare they ask the person involved? Could I possibly tell them?
Hu Ziyuan giggled and leaned in. “Look how timid you are. The person isn’t even there, what are you afraid of? You’re so familiar with Dragon Domain; think harder.”
“…”
Think hard about what? The person involved is standing right in front of you, hey!
“Hmm… let me think…” Complaining was one thing, but directly refusing just now seemed too abrupt. She muttered evasively, her mind working on whether to just name a random room. Or should I just tell them about Tang Jin’s? After all, she’s lying in a hidden corner right now and definitely won’t come back in the middle of this… But that would seem… tsk, a little heartless. Picking on one person repeatedly…
“Ahem, actually, Chaofeng doesn’t have much good stuff anyway. In my opinion, we should just be safe and leave quickly.”
“You know, don’t you?” Ling Yuexi saw her change the subject and assumed she had remembered. After all, she was so familiar with that Dawn member named Tang Jin just now, so it was normal for her to know where Chaofeng lived.
But hearing these words, Su Cheng’s heart sank. Could she have sensed something again? Why can’t I ever hide anything from her? This woman is too perceptive… Su Cheng’s eyes flickered a few times, and she said, “Well, after thinking carefully, it should be the room furthest right on the second floor!”
She waved a hand, her heart was bleeding. Damn it, in the end, I sacrificed myself. Sob, sob, sob. Stealing from my own home is safer than stealing from someone else’s, right? After all, “Chaofeng” won’t be back in the middle of this. Let’s quickly get this over with and leave.
Su Cheng sighed and said to Ling Yuexi, “I’ll take you there.” She then tossed her backpack to Hu Ziyuan and led the way. Heh, letting those two steal from my house while I wait outside like an idiot? No way!
Su Cheng hopped downstairs and, with a sorrowful throw, flung the grappling hook upwards. It firmly latched onto the second-floor window. She gripped the rope with both hands, tested it, and then, right in front of them, performed a skillful “cripple’s window climb.”
The two Omegas silently watched her busy figure, their hearts filled with complex emotions.
Hu Ziyuan shook her head, sighing, “You still doubted her? Look how hard Cheng Su is trying for you. I’ve never seen such a person with a disabled body but an unyielding spirit.”
“Even a crippled A who cannot be marked can do so much for her beloved. Even with an unhealed leg injury, she’ll stop at nothing just to bring a smile to her beauty’s face.”
“Ah, this damned love!”
Ling Yuexi: “…”
I really want to sew her mouth shut.
Su Cheng struggled mightily to climb to the second floor. She pushed hard with both hands, sat on the windowsill, and slowly caught her breath. Looking back, she saw the two still standing where they were.
Damn it…
Only twenty minutes left, and you’re still spacing out? Do you have any awareness of being a thief? Don’t you know speed is key in war!
I, an eunuch, am more anxious than the emperor! (Not really)
This is simply outrageous!
Flames of anger burned in her eyes, her fury unconcealed. She lowered her voice and softly called out to them below, “What are you doing, grandmas…?”
“…”
The “grandmas” came to their senses. One took a running start, firmly gripped the rope, lightly tapped her toes on the wall, and agilely scaled the wall as if walking on flat ground.
A fragrant breeze swept past, and in a few quick steps, she was over the window. Then, with a flick of her hand, she pulled out a circular glass cutter and delicately scored a circle. She reached in, opened the window, and entered the house.
The whole process took less than thirty seconds.
Before Su Cheng could even catch her breath, Ling Yuexi had already passed her and entered the living room.
Awesome, Su Cheng couldn’t help but applaud silently. As expected of the villain leader, she’s number one at sneaking in, breaking locks, and setting fires!
It was past three in the morning. At this time, Mo Mei should still be asleep. As long as they were quiet, they wouldn’t wake her.
Su Cheng didn’t talk, but pointed to her bedroom to Ling Yuexi. The latter understood, tiptoed over, and silently twisted the doorknob.
The two acted like a silent movie, one looking around in the living room, the other committing the “crime” in the bedroom.
Su Cheng pretended to be on guard outside for a while, then suddenly felt pathetic, like an idiot.
Why had things come to this?
She, a protagonist, never would have thought that one day she’d bring a villain to steal from her own house!
Now Ling Yuexi was rummaging through her treasures in the bedroom, and she was still putting on a one-woman show out here for no one?
Su Cheng simply sat down at the table, quietly poured herself a glass of water, and waited for Ling Yuexi to come out.
After drinking a glass of water to moisten her throat, she pondered that the katana in the original Chaofeng’s room was probably gone; it was a good item. It could cut zombies like fruit, and it was the artifact the original owner always brought on missions.
She was idly wondering what other valuable things were in the room when the bedroom door behind her suddenly opened with a creak.
Su Cheng frowned slightly. Ling Yuexi wasn’t a careless person, so why did the door creak when she pushed it?
Just as she was about to turn around, she heard a click, and the light above her head suddenly turned on, illuminating the entire living room.
Mo Mei stood by the door, wearing a white nightgown. Her chestnut hair was a little messy, her eyes half-closed. She yawned, covering her mouth and said, “Why are you back at this hour? You startled me when I went to the bathroom.”
Holy crap…
Su Cheng’s mind buzzed, and for a moment, she felt like her ears were ringing, unable to hear any sounds from the outside.
She froze for half a second, then subconsciously glanced to Mo Mei’s left. Time seemed to slow down countless times at that moment; the opposite bedroom door moved frame by frame in her vision, slowly about to open…
Faster than words could tell, she immediately grabbed the scissors from the table and rushed towards Mo Mei, blinking furiously and signaling, “Don’t speak! This is a robbery!”
The next moment, Ling Yuexi flew out of the bedroom, a cold glint flashed, and the katana was unsheathed.
“No!” Su Cheng ignored her leg injury and, without thinking, went to embrace the hand holding the blade.
The tip of the blade stopped abruptly, and a strand of chestnut hair slowly drifted down.
Mo Mei hadn’t even had time to blink. She was completely awake now, her large eyes staring at the two of them, not understanding anything.
What’s going on?
Su Cheng endured the pain in her leg and urgently saying, “She’s just Chaofeng’s sister, not a Dawn member. You mustn’t…”
“I don’t kill Omegas.” Before she could finish, Ling Yuexi coldly interrupted her, silently sheathing the blade.
Huh? Is she upset again?
Su Cheng softened her tone, put on a smiling face, and poked the person’s arm. “This blade is really beautiful, Xi-xi found a treasure~”
Ling Yuexi ignored her, turned to avoid her hand, and walked towards the window.
She really is angry.
“Hey, why are you leaving? You’ve only taken so little. Isn’t there still time?” Su Cheng quickly went forward and grabbed her hand. The cold touch made her grip a little tighter. “There are still many good things.”
She could have easily broken free, but Ling Yuexi didn’t. Instead, she let the other person hold her, and after a long while, she said in a flat tone, “Let’s go. Can’t carry any more.”
An excuse. She’s clearly still mad.
However, what she said was also true; their bags were already full when they left the medical facility.
Su Cheng’s eyes darted around, and she said, “Follow me, I have a plan.” With that, she pulled Ling Yuexi and hopped back.
Because her movements were too big, she pulled her injury again. “Hiss.”
Su Cheng’s legs went soft, and her body uncontrollably tilted to one side.
Almost simultaneously, a slender, strong arm quickly wrapped around her waist from behind, smoothly pulling her she who was about to fall leaned directly into her embrace.
Su Cheng smelled that faint hint of lemon and mint again, mixed with the scent of medicine. Although it was just a tiny bit, she keenly detected it.
Ling Yuexi’s body, like her pheromones, was always cool and distant, not warm at all.
But her embrace was soft.
She hadn’t even turned her head just now, yet she knew my movements perfectly.
This is the second time…
The smiling mask was close at hand. Su Cheng looked up, meeting her eyes. There were specks of starlight in those deep blue eyes, and her voice was soft like sugar and honey, as she whispered, “Do you care about me a lot?”
Ling Yuexi stiffened, turned her head to avoid her and said in a low voice, “No.”
No, yet you’re still holding on?
Su Cheng chuckled, wrapped her arms around Ling Yuexi’s neck, and with a “smooch,” kissed her ear. “Stubborn.”
Feeling “ambushed”, Ling Yuexi trembled slightly and immediately pulled away.
Su Cheng quickly grabbed her, circled her back into her embrace, and with one hand, gently stroked her silver hair, coaxing softly, “Don’t be angry, okay? I’ll find all of Chaofeng’s treasures for you.”
This time, Ling Yuexi didn’t resist. She just leaned silently on Su Cheng’s shoulder. After a long while, she said in a muffled voice, “Do you also think I’m heartless, killing anyone I see…?”
Su Cheng’s heart jolted, and her hand suddenly froze in mid-air.
Isn’t that true? She subconsciously thought.
But suddenly, another voice emerged from the depths of her heart.
It was like two little people fighting. One said, Yes, she is. Ling Yuexi, the villain leader, is bloodthirsty, cruel, and kills indiscriminately. Have you forgotten how she shot you in the heart when you first transmigrated? Forgotten how the vanguard army of Ya Zhi was completely annihilated? Forgotten that in the end, she killed everyone?
The other side argued, No, the ending hasn’t happened yet. She hasn’t killed you, Tang Jin, or Mo Mei so far.
Now doesn’t represent the future. Who can guarantee what will happen later? She’s a madwoman; she’ll lose control sooner or later!
But she…
But what?
If she dies, everyone else can be safe.
The argument ceased, one side winning with an overwhelming advantage.
On the side Ling Yuexi couldn’t see, Su Cheng sighed softly, tilted her head back, and slowly closed her eyes.
Such an easy choice, yet why does my heart ache slightly…?
After a moment of silence, Su Cheng’s hand continued to gently stroke Yuexi’s long hair, and she heard her own voice, deep and heavy, like mountains and seas, “…Of course not.”
Silver strands of hair slipped through her fingertips, one after another, unsure if she was deceiving her, or deceiving herself.
“You’re just my sweetheart…”
