- Chapter 17 - A Plaything
Hu Ziyuan held Su Cheng in a death grip around her neck. All Su Cheng could smell was rosemary.
Only then did she truly realize that alcohol was a bad thing.
In her current situation, anything she said or did felt wrong. The more she struggled, the harder her clumsy friend squeezed…
Helpless, she hit Hu Ziyuan’s arm a couple of times, then tearfully gave up fighting.
Now, not only did her scalp feel cold, but her whole body tingled as if someone was hanging her up and whipping her hard…
Once the person she was holding stopped struggling, Hu Ziyuan finally let go. She lowered her head and patted Su Cheng’s face. “Susu? Did I choke you to death?”
Yes, you did and you’re next.
“Oh, how enviable!” A long-haired woman nearby covered her mouth with a small fan, revealing only a pair of smiling, “peach blossom” eyes. She nudged Ling Yuexi. “I can’t believe even a ‘crippled A’ is so popular? She’s quite desirable, isn’t she?”
When Hu Ziyuan heard that, she immediately perked up and retorted, “Susu isn’t just any ordinary ‘crippled A’!” She was counting on Su Cheng to help her connect with Tang Jin. “My happiness depends on her.”
“Oh~ happi-ness?”
Su Cheng: ???
Who is this woman? Why is she stirring things up?
“Ahem,” Su Cheng quickly interrupted. She struggled to create some distance from her clumsy friend and laughed awkwardly, “No, she’s had too much to drink. Nothing she says counts. If you don’t believe me, ask her tomorrow; she’ll be rolling on the floor and crying with regret.”
“You certainly know her well.” Someone who had been silent suddenly chuckled. They picked up a clean wine glass and set it down on the table with a thud, then looked up at Su Cheng with a sidelong glance. “Pour the wine.”
Ling Yuexi’s smile was beautiful; she seemed to be in a good mood—if you ignored the slightly cracked wooden table.
The long-haired woman looked surprised at that. She blinked and said, “Yuexi, don’t you dislike this peach blossom wine?”
“Yuexi? That’s quite intimate!”
Could this meddling woman be Shi Yunqi?
Only now did she take a closer look. The woman before her was graceful, dressed in a green robe, with ink-black hair flowing like a waterfall. A tear mole below her “peach blossom” eyes made her look incredibly charming when she looked at people.
She was indeed a beauty.
The two of them seemed to have been together all day; their relationship was clearly not ordinary.
“Clink, clank,” two crisp sounds broke through as Ling Yuexi slowly tapped the table with her fingers, interrupting Su Cheng’s thoughts.
“I’m talking to you; where are you looking?” The smile on her lips remained unchanged, her eyes fixed on Su Cheng. Every word she spoke seemed to scratch at Su Cheng’s heart, her cool voice utterly captivating.
Su Cheng instinctively swallowed, her throat dry.
She suddenly felt like she was entangled by a beautiful snake—cold, beautiful, and deadly.
“Are your eyes hurting?” Shi Yunqi looked left, then right, and simply poured them both a drink. “Come on, come on! It’s rare for Yuexi to be so happy today. Let’s drink until we drop!”
Su Cheng’s mouth twitched. Did this sister put all her skill points into intelligence and none into emotional intelligence?
That was such a perfect “fake smile”; couldn’t she tell?
She pretended to have a headache, frowning and rubbing her temples. “Oh, I think I’m a bit drunk. Maybe you two should just…”
“What?” Ling Yuexi coldly cut her off before she could finish, the curve of her lips gradually turning downwards. “You can drink with Ziyuan, but not with me?”
Her emerald eyes seemed veiled by a dark cloud, letting no light through them.
The woman was like a venomous snake hidden in the shadows, staring intently at its prey, hissing and puffing.
If Su Cheng moved, Ling Yuexi would immediately strike with a swift attack, never letting her get away.
Shi Yunqi finally sensed something was wrong. She quickly turned to Su Cheng and said, “It’s over, Susu, run for your life! She seems unhappy.”
“…”
Damn it!
That’s what I was thinking! How can I run when you just blurted it out?!
“Hahaha, run for my life? Sister, you’re such a joker.” Her pained expression vanished, replaced by a smiling face. “If Yuexi’s unhappy, I’d give my life to cheer her up!”
Under the table, her foot discreetly kicked her teammate: Quick, help distract her!
Hu Ziyuan remained motionless.
Su Cheng stole a glance out of the corner of her eye. Hu Ziyuan was leaning to the side, fast asleep.
Holy crap…
She just bailed after messing with me!
Shi Yunqi also fell silent now. She covered her mouth with her fan and quietly moved a bit further away—just in case there’s a fight, don’t hurt the innocent.
Ling Yuexi swirled her wine glass, her slender arm slightly raised as she crooked her index finger at Su Cheng.
Su Cheng felt desolate, but she kept a smile on her face as she walked over and sat beside her. “Yuexi, what do you want to eat? I’ll feed you, okay?”
As Su Cheng got closer, Ling Yuexi sensitively caught a faint scent of rosemary.
Her eyes sharpened. She tilted her head back and took a sip of wine, then turned and hooked her arm around Su Cheng’s neck, pushing her down.
Su Cheng’s pupils suddenly widened. As their lips met, a sweet and spicy liquid was forcefully transferred to her.
She was so startled that she almost choked. Just as her body retreated slightly, a cold hand covered the back of her head, deepening the kiss with force.
…Is she trying to avoid me now?
Ling Yuexi’s eyes seemed to be on fire, even the corners of her eyes gradually turning red.
Wine spilled from the corners of their mouths, slowly running down their necks.
Only after Su Cheng was forced to swallow all the wine did Ling Yuexi release her grip.
“Susu…” Ling Yuexi sighed softly, her cold fingers tracing Su Cheng’s delicate earlobe. Her red lips parted and closed and her voice trembling slightly, “You must understand—”
“What I pick up, can only be mine…”
A thing…?
Su Cheng’s chest ached, as if something had gently stung her. She looked up into those cold, jade-like eyes and heard a chilling voice next to her ear:
“If I’m willing to play with you, you’re a treasure.”
“If I don’t want to play anymore, you’re nothing.”
After Ling Yuexi finished talking, she let go, stood up, and threw the wine glass. With a “smash,” it shattered into pieces.
She put on her long mink coat and, like a proud queen, strode out with long steps. Her departure was remarkably elegant, and she didn’t look back.
The people around them were drawn by the sound of shattering glass. Song Ci looked over, confused, and was about to step forward, but Zhen Yuan stopped him with an outstretched hand.
“Elder Zhen, why did this suddenly…”
“Don’t meddle in young people’s affairs.”
“Don’t take it to heart,” Shi Yunqi patted her. “She just broke a wine glass; it’s not a big deal. She’ll be fine in a couple of days.” She then got up and followed Ling Yuexi out.
Su Cheng sat there stunned, ignoring Shi Yunqi’s words.
Though she had a high tolerance for alcohol, she now felt a bit lightheaded and drowsy.
So, I’m just a plaything, she thought.
She had been mistaken before, thinking Ling Yuexi felt something special for her…
She shook her head, as if she could shake off the chaotic thoughts swirling in her mind.
It’s all messed up. Forget it. Right now, completing the undercover mission is the most important thing.
She exhaled upwards, letting out a puff of air. Though she knew it was true, her chest couldn’t help but feel a little panicked.
What should I do next? It seems I’ve really offended the big demon this time.
She didn’t know how much time had passed. The mess on the long table had been cleaned up, and the crowd had gradually dispersed.
Pupu wiped her greasy mouth and came out of the kitchen. Her pink twin pigtails bounced cheerfully with her steps, indicating her good mood.
As she passed the long table, she spotted the only two people remaining.
She went over and poked Hu Ziyuan’s face. Hu Ziyuan mumbled a few words but didn’t wake up.
“Susu, Sister Ziyuan is drunk. We need to carry her back to her room.”
“Oh, okay.”
Su Cheng snapped out of her chaotic thoughts. She got up, picked up her crutch, and absentmindedly draped Hu Ziyuan’s arm over her shoulder. She and Pupu, one on each side, helped support Hu Ziyuan as they headed to their living quarters.
Since Pupu was much shorter than her, Hu Ziyuan was carried awkwardly, one side high and one side low, with her foot dragging on the ground.
They walked with their heads down for a while when suddenly, they heard Hu Ziyuan let out a painful groan.
But Su Cheng didn’t seem to hear it; she just kept walking mechanically.
Hu Ziyuan whimpered and groaned for a long time until Pupu finally couldn’t help but turn her head. She then realized that one of Hu Ziyuan’s shoes had fallen off at some point.
They were on a rocky path, and Hu Ziyuan’s foot was just dragging and scraping on the ground. It would be strange if it didn’t hurt.
“…”
Her foot might be completely scraped away by the time we get back to the room.
“Susu, stop for a bit.”
Su Cheng heard her and stopped like a block of wood, looking at Pupu in confusion. “What’s wrong?”
Pupu pursed her lips, seeing Su Cheng so spaced out. “You hold her, I’ll go find her shoe.”
“Oh. A shoe?”
Su Cheng took hold of Hu Ziyuan and looked down at her feet, confused.
Oh, my apologies…
Even though Hu Ziyuan had set her up, at least there wasn’t any physical harm…
She’s a beauty, after all, and we’ve been dragging her along without any care for her image…
When Pupu came back, they worked together to put the shoe back on Hu Ziyuan.
Su Cheng said, “I’ll carry her by myself.” Hu Ziyuan didn’t look heavy, so it should be fine.
The young girl was half-skeptical. “Can you?”
“Don’t worry.” Su Cheng leaned on her crutch with her right hand and held Hu Ziyuan with her left. She squatted slightly and lifted Hu Ziyuan onto her shoulder like a sack.
She’s really heavy.
“Wow, you’re strong!” Pupu clapped her hands in admiration. “Alphas really are much stronger than Omegas.”
“Of course!” Su Cheng was an S-rank; even with her scent glands sealed, she was stronger than most people.
“By the way, how old are you, Pupu?” She looked just like a vibrant high school student from Su Cheng’s original world.
“Eighteen.”
“So young! Did you really develop that mech?”
“I just modified it.”
“Oh, I never see it around. Are you hiding it?”
“No way, it’s in the Water Curtain Cave. But you can’t go in without Sister Yuexi’s permission.”
Water Curtain Cave? Where is that? I’ve never seen it…
Meanwhile, Ling Yuexi and Shi Yunqi walked and chatted late that night. The torches on the path weren’t very bright, and as the evening breeze blew, the mottled tree shadows swayed gently on the ground.
Hu Ziyuan’s long hair draped over her back, and her arms hung straight down, swaying with Su Cheng’s steps.
Ling Yuexi stood in the pavilion, watching from afar, her face growing even darker.
“How thoughtful.”
Shi Yunqi, who had been chattering away, stopped talking. She followed Ling Yuexi’s gaze, her face filled with black lines.
How was this “thoughtful”? It looked more like she was disposing of a body…
“You know, Ziyuan’s personality is so warm and generous, it’s normal for people to like her. During heat, if both parties are willing, there’s nothing wrong with satisfying a physical need.”
The hand under Ling Yuexi’s sleeve clenched repeatedly. She let out a cold snort and turned to leave.
Shi Yunqi looked at her retreating back, completely baffled.
Didn’t she say she didn’t want to play anymore, and then so left gracefully? Then, when I caught up, she insisted on discussing things in the pavilion. Now, she’s halfway through the conversation and just leaves.
Ugh, these people’s minds are so twisted and hard to guess. It’s much easier to understand circuit boards.
“Wait! What I was just talking about, is it going to work or not? We really need to hurry now!” Shi Yunqi shouted behind Yuxie.
*****
Su Cheng carried Hu Ziyuan all the way back to the room and tossed her onto the bed. She took a breath and said, “I’ll leave the rest to you. I’m going to check on Yuexi.”
Pupu nodded. “Okay, Sister Yuexi probably isn’t asleep yet.”
“Hmm? How do you know? It’s so late.” Su Cheng had planned to sneak in through the window and leave a note first to gauge Ling Yuexi’s reaction.
“Because she doesn’t sleep much,” Pupu said. She took off Hu Ziyuan’s shoes, straightened her on the bed, and pulled up the blanket. “She only goes to bed in the middle of the night and wakes up before dawn every day.”
A cultivator, huh…
After saying goodbye to Pupu, Su Cheng walked toward Ling Yuexi’s small courtyard.
The candle in the window was still lit; she was indeed still awake.
The door was locked. Su Cheng raised her hand and gently knocked. “Yuexi, it’s me. Can I come in?”
“No,” came the cold voice from inside, devoid of any emotion.
Tsk, she won’t even see me. This isn’t easy…
Ling Yuexi was the sole authority in the entire Red Sleeve Order. If Su Cheng offended her, not only would she not be able to enter the “Water Curtain Cave,” but she might find it hard to move freely within the fortress itself.
Ugh, this person still isn’t sleeping in the middle of the night. I wonder what she’s doing in there.
Su Cheng’s eyes darted around, then landed on the open wooden window. An idea sparked on her.
She put her hands on the windowsill, pushed herself up, and climbed through the window.
“Hehe, I’m in!”
The moment her feet touched the ground, she heard a crisp “click.”
Hmm? That alarming yet familiar sound—
Ling Yuexi’s gun was pointed directly at her. “Get out,” she said coldly.
Support "I TRANSMIGRATED AS THE PROTAGONIST AND WAS KIDNAPPED BY THE VILLAINOUS OMEGA"
This novel is definitely a thumbs-up. It is love, family, action, and comedy rolled into one. I love how the story is unfolding. The action scenes were so thrilling. We’ll see how Ling Yuxie and Su Cheng get their happy ending. I also commend the translator for including the definitions for the terms that were used in the story.
Love protagonists! The badass sniper Omega and the S-class Alpha.
