- Chapter 25.3 - Pink-Skinned Pig
As expected, Longyu’s convoy was ambushed in the mountain pass.
After several explosions, Pupu’s mecha burst through the smoke. Shi Yunqi, meanwhile, controlled over a dozen robots that surged forward one after another.
With a live operator behind them this time, the robots moved much more efficiently.
Yu Fei stayed busy tangling with Pupu, while Tang Jin guarded the heavy armored vehicle. With only the two of them—both Alphas—it was a tough fight.
Things went smoothly on Shi Yunqi’s side. She controlled the bots to snatch a lot of supplies and had them retreat in groups. But it all felt too smooth, and she couldn’t shake the feeling that something was off.
Why had Longyu only sent two members from Po Xiao this time?
Tang Jin kept alert for a sniper from Hong Xiu Zhao, but no shots ever came. Just as she started to question it, a sudden gunshot rang out from afar. She immediately used her qi to defend, but the bullet struck the cliff wall beside her instead.
A miss?
Several more shots followed—none of them hit.
Yu Fei also looked over in confusion. The two exchanged a look, and Tang Jin gave a subtle nod—stick to the plan.
“Retreat!” she shouted, signaling the vanguard before climbing back into the armored vehicle.
…
“Go after that one!” Hu Ziyuan spotted Longyu retreating in all directions through her binoculars, but Tang Jin was driving a heavy armored vehicle all by herself, breaking away from the group.
That vehicle—that’s where all the good stuff is.
She quickly urged Ling Yuexi and Su Cheng into the car, slammed on the gas, and sped off in pursuit.
The car seemed to have been modified—it was incredibly fast, and it didn’t take long before they caught up with Tang Jin.
Ling Yuexi leaned out and fired a rapid burst of shots, but the other vehicle was now fitted with bulletproof glass and thick steel plating. The bullets were completely ineffective.
The two cars were racing side by side, with the gap between them rapidly narrowing.
We’re about to catch up… Su Cheng was sweating nervously. Why did this moment feel just like last time?
Tang Jin gripped the steering wheel tightly and swerved at the next intersection—only to drive straight into a dead end.
By the time she tried to reverse, Hu Ziyuan’s car had already blocked the way.
“Surrender nicely now~” Wearing her fox mask and using a voice changer, Hu Ziyuan glanced at Su Cheng, then stepped out and started walking forward.
Stupid Tang Jin…
Su Cheng cursed inwardly and grabbed her rake as she got out. Ling Yuexi followed, gun in hand, eyes fixed on the target as they slowly advanced.
The door of the armored vehicle opened. Tang Jin stood there alone with her hands raised, tall and still, waiting silently.
Watching Hu Ziyuan approach step by step, Su Cheng suddenly felt a strange sense of déjà vu.
“General Suanni, we meet again~” Hu Ziyuan said cheerfully. “Now hand over the supplies, will you?”
“There’s some big stuff in there. I can’t carry it on my own,” Tang Jin replied calmly, seemingly unfazed.
“Is that so? Then let’s do it together.” Hu Ziyuan glanced back at Ling Yuexi. “I doubt you’d dare try anything funny.”
With her face hidden behind a mask, Tang Jin’s expression was unreadable. As Hu Ziyuan came closer, she slowly reached toward the trunk—
No, no, no!
“Don’t go over there!” In that instant, something from the original novel flashed through Su Cheng’s mind. She lunged forward, rake in hand.
How could she have forgotten something so important?
This was a major plot event in the book—one that directly involved the protagonist!
There were no supplies in that trunk. Hiding inside… was Chao Feng!
Is Tang Jin really letting herself get caught this easily? It was clearly a trap!
In the original story, this was how Hu Ziyuan got captured—drawn in close, then knocked unconscious by Chao Feng as she leapt out of the trunk before anyone could react. She was taken alive.
Even with Ling Yuexi’s gun, it was useless. The original character didn’t fear death—she could take a bullet and still charge forward.
She never had a chance against two Alphas in close-range combat. If not for Pupu’s timely arrival, even she would’ve been taken down.
And if an Omega like Hu Ziyuan got dragged back to Longyu—what would happen to her?
Su Cheng didn’t even want to imagine. All she knew was that Hu Ziyuan never showed up again in the story after this event…
Right in front of her, her bestie was about to be taken. Of course Ling Yuexi would be out for bl00d.
Now, the real Chao Feng was standing right here—and Tang Jin’s plan was still in motion. Which meant—
There was someone else in that trunk!
She might be a spy, but she definitely didn’t want Hu Ziyuan getting caught…
Her body moved before her brain could think. Panic ignited something inside her. She shouted and sprinted forward.
“Don’t go over there!” As the trunk opened, she dashed like lightning and swung her rake down with all her strength.
No one expected her sudden charge. Tang Jin’s hand was still on the car.
Just as Ya Zhi protruded his head from the trunk, the impact struck him squarely. Caught off guard, he lost his balance and tumbled back inside.
Everything happened so fast; everyone froze in shock.
“You… you were going to capture me?” Hu Ziyuan looked at Tang Jin in disbelief.
“Run!” Su Cheng grabbed her and yanked her back.
They were enemies anyway—what’s the point of talking?
At the same time, Ling Yuexi fired a shot.
But this was Tang Jin—one of the most formidable A-rank Alphas in Dawn, with defense unmatched.
Tang Jin swiftly tightened her right arm, absorbing the bullet directly. Her left hand moved just as fast, twisting around and locking her grip on Hu Ziyuan’s neck.
“Sorry,” Tang Jin muttered, and then held Hu Ziyuan in front of her. “Nobody move.”
Such terrifying reflexes…
Su Cheng’s heart sank. Things were sliding back toward the original plot.
Only this time, Hu Ziyuan wasn’t unconscious—yet…
With a hostage in hand, Ling Yuexi couldn’t risk taking another shot.
Ya Zhi has now jumped out of the trunk, face fully exposed as usual, no mask. His expression was savage. One of his ears was clearly a prosthetic. When his eyes met Ling Yuexi’s, they burned with hatred.
“Tang Jin! Let her go!” Su Cheng shouted through the voice changer. She was as confused as anyone, but one thing was clear—she couldn’t let them take Hu Ziyuan!
“How do you know my name?” Tang Jin asked, voice cool but clearly puzzled.
They always used code names. Even within Longyu, very few knew her real name.
And she didn’t recognize this pink pig-masked person at all. That burst of speed earlier… what level was she?
“None of your business,” Su Cheng said. “Our mechas are on the way. Let her go, and maybe you’ll get out of here in one piece.”
“Pink Pig, you’re pretty cocky, huh?” Tang Jin hadn’t responded yet, but Ya Zhi smashed his massive hammer to the ground and pointed at her. “Our reinforcements are almost here too. The one who should surrender is you.”
Pink. Pig.
After that, Su Cheng didn’t hear a word. Her brain was just echoing those two damn words…
You son of a—!
She clenched her teeth in rage and raised her rake, ready to shove it down his throat—but when she glanced at Tang Jin, she gritted her teeth and held back.
Hu Ziyuan, you idiot. Why the hell did a healer like you run up front?
They had a hostage. Ling Yuexi had a gun. No one dared make a move.
The standoff froze in tense silence, each second stretched taut.
Just then, the hostage being restrained suddenly spoke.
“When a tiger doesn’t bare its fangs, do you all think I’m a sick kitten?”
What did that mean?
Except for Ling Yuexi, none of the others present understood.
Ya Zhi let out a cold snort and scoffed, “You’ll be a dead cat soon enough.”
But Hu Ziyuan acted as if she didn’t hear him and simply lowered her head, chuckling to herself.
With her neck still gripped by Tang Jin, the latter began to frown. Hu Ziyuan’s body was impervious to bullets and blades—what trick could she possibly be playing?
After laughing her fill, Hu Ziyuan took a breath, and with a sudden flick of her sleeve, a syringe slid into her hand.
She flipped her left wrist, and the syringe plunged straight into her arm.
Injecting herself?
Everyone was momentarily stunned.
Tang Jin immediately channeled her energy, with her entire body entering a battle-ready state, wary of any sudden outburst from the woman in front of her.
But the woman remained still, doing nothing more.
Tang Jin was confused.
But seconds later, she suddenly caught a strange fragrance—seemingly drifting from the back of the woman’s neck…
The scent of rosemary grew stronger and stronger, surging over her like a tidal wave.
Just as she stood directly behind Hu Ziyuan, a sudden, deafening “boom” seemed to short-circuit her brain.
“Forgot to tell you,” Hu Ziyuan slowly turned around, grabbing Tang Jin by the collar, “my pheromones can mess with people’s minds~”
It was as if the sound of bells rang faintly in Tang Jin’s mind—soft, rhythmic, and ethereal…
The mask in front of her eyes seemed to distort, and she blinked in a daze, suddenly feeling like the fox on it had moved.
Hu Ziyuan turned off her voice changer and leaned in to softly hum a tune by her ear—her voice as sweet as a nightingale, melodic and enchanting.
Tang Jin’s body was unconsciously drawn forward, following Hu Ziyuan step by step…
