- Chapter 7 - She Recognized Me?!
A sharp, searing pain snapped Su Cheng back to her senses.
What the hell?! Was Ling Yuexi not just a killer—Is she a cannibal too?!
Terrified, Su Cheng shoved the woman off her.
Caught off guard, Ling Yuexi was pushed to the ground. Having lost her warm “pillow,” she pouted a little, looking oddly displeased.
Her tongue unconsciously licked the corner of her lips, tasting a faint sweetness in her mouth. As her mind gradually cleared, she slowly opened her eyes and stared blankly at the person in front of her—now sitting on the ground, clutching her neck with clothes all in disarray.
Su Cheng’s veil had long since fallen off during the plunge from the cliff. Her entire face was now exposed under Ling Yuexi’s eyes.
A face like it had been carved by a blade—refined features, sharp contours, and a perfectly defined jawline.
Despite that cold, aloof face, her wide, teary eyes gave her the look of a wronged little deer, oddly captivating…
Seeing Ling Yuexi just sitting there motionless, Su Cheng asked cautiously, “Big sis, are you okay?”
Not at all.
Ling Yuexi didn’t answer. Her red lips curved into a faint smirk as she raised a finger and beckoned her over like a queen summoning a servant.
She wants her to come over?
Su Cheng really didn’t want to but was too scared to piss this woman off again. So she reluctantly moved closer.
As she approached, that cool, fresh scent hit her again.
Suddenly, Ling Yuexi hooked an arm around Su Cheng’s neck, pulling her so close that their faces nearly touched. Her nose lightly grazed Su Cheng’s chin as she sniffed, like a venomous snake flicking its tongue. Su Cheng froze, not even daring to breathe.
She didn’t smell anything unusual.
Interesting. Another person she didn’t instinctively reject. Aside from the Dawnbreaker operative named Chao Feng, this was the second person she didn’t instinctively reject.
She was an Omega, and once her heat period hit, she loathed any kind of contact—physically, emotionally, and psychologically.
But this person… actually smelled kind of delicious.
She reached up to the nape of Su Cheng’s neck with her fingers. Just as she touched the scent gland, her expression changed—and she abruptly shoved Su Cheng away.
Su Cheng fell, taking another blow to her right leg.
Damn it!
What was she, a human punching bag?!
She glared fiercely but quickly softened again. “Big sis… what was that for…”
Ling Yuexi’s hand trembled slightly as she raised her gun, her voice icy and sharp: “You’re an Alpha?”
“No, no, no! I’m a broken one!” Su Cheng panicked when she saw the muzzle pointed at her. She waved her hands wildly, trying to explain. Ignoring her injured leg, she turned around, lifted her hair, and showed her neck.
Ling Yuexi narrowed her eyes. A thick scab covered her scent gland.
“See? It’s ruined. My pheromones don’t come out, and I can’t mark anyone.”
Ling Yuexi stared for a long time. She’d never seen an Alpha with a naturally damaged gland before, and never had she met one who admitted it so cheerfully.
She didn’t say a word, leaving Su Cheng unsure if she believed her. Just as Su Cheng was about to lower her hair, Ling Yuexi finally said, “Go get the suppressants from the bike.”
Su Cheng didn’t dare disobey. Dragging her injured leg, she limped toward the motorcycle. There was debris scattered all around. After fumbling for a bit, she finally found an unopened medicine box.
She looked at the label and blinked. Omega-only?
Then she thought back on Ling Yuexi’s behavior just now—her mind spun like she’d just unlocked a mystery.
Wait a second… Ling Yuexi… is actually an Omega?!
By the time Su Cheng limped her way back, Ling Yuexi looked even worse. She could barely hold the gun anymore, arms limp at her sides, breathing fast and shallow.
Even so, Su Cheng didn’t dare get too close. Who knew if this crazy lady would snap again? So she crouched and tossed the medicine box over like she was feeding a stray dog.
Ling Yuexi: “…”
Su Cheng studied her for a bit longer. She really did seem to be suffering.
Maybe she should just finish her off now? …No, not smart. They were stuck here, and she might need Ling Yuexi to call for help.
After all, this woman clearly had high-tech stuff.
So, it’s better to earn some goodwill first. Maybe she’d be allowed to tag along and get out of here.
With her plan set, Su Cheng softened her voice and said gently, “Don’t worry, I won’t hurt you.”
She raised her hands in a surrender pose, inching closer.
For just a moment, she thought Ling Yuexi looked like a wounded stray cat—wary, but quietly longing for comfort.
Enduring the pain in her leg, Su Cheng sat down beside her and gently helped her lean against her shoulder. She opened the box, read the instructions carefully, and injected the suppressant.
As the drug took effect, Ling Yuexi’s breathing gradually calmed. But since she was still wearing a mask, Su Cheng couldn’t tell if she had actually fallen asleep. The mask’s lenses were reflective, and her eyes remained hidden.
She really was an Omega…
But how had she survived in this hellish world?
Su Cheng looked down at that delicate jawline; her expression looked complicated.
After a while, she sighed and carefully adjusted their position so Ling Yuexi would be more comfortable in her arms. Both of them sat there, their eyes blank and staring into space.
What she didn’t know was Ling Yuexi wasn’t asleep at all.
She was wide awake, eyes unblinking beneath the mask, fixed on Su Cheng. She stared at her for a long time. Then, suddenly, her gaze landed on the cloth wrapped around Su Cheng’s forehead.
Without warning, she reached up and yanked it off.
Startled, Su Cheng looked down at her in confusion.
Again? Was she about to flip out again?
“I’ve seen you before.”
…???
Those four words were like a cold wind from the dead of winter, sending a chill down her spine.
She recognized her?! No way—everyone waer a masked back then!
Su Cheng gave a stiff smile, still clinging to hope. “You must be mistaken, big sis~”
“Longyu.”
!!!
Su Cheng’s smile froze.
Ling Yuexi sat up, now able to support herself, and distanced herself from Su Cheng. Her voice was cold, completely devoid of warmth.
“Why were you alone here? And how did you just happen to run into me?”
Su Cheng let out a dry laugh.
Why, huh. She silently cursed Qing Cang a thousand times in her heart, then gave an awkward chuckle. “Haha, maybe it was fate… you know, the will of the heavens…”
Ling Yuexi cut her off with a snort. Her fingers idly played with the gun in her hand. “Last chance.”
Su Cheng froze. She lowered her gaze, thought for a moment, then said in a muffled voice, “Okay… I’ll be honest.”
“Speak.”
“It’s simple, really.” Su Cheng suddenly looked up, her eyes glowing with soft light. “I like you.”
Ling Yuexi: “…”
Su Cheng had no idea what kind of reaction that got—she couldn’t see the woman’s eyes and her heart was pounding.
If she told the truth, she’d be dead for sure! Compliments were the only way out now, right? No one hits someone being nice to them.
“You’ve heard this line before, haven’t you?” Su Cheng leaned in, courage bubbling up in her chest. Her eyes sparkled as she enunciated each word:
“A beauty I saw—etched in memory. One day without her—madness consumes me.”
“That one glance I stole… I’ve never forgotten it. From the ends of the earth to the underworld, I’d follow you anywhere.”
Ling Yuexi stared at her. Then, unexpectedly, she chuckled—and raised the gun straight at Su Cheng’s forehead.
“Then prove it~”
!!!
Su Cheng’s breath hitched. What the hell kind of reaction was that?! She gawked at the woman in front of her, gritting her teeth. “Don’t you regret this.”
“I won’t.”
This was it?! Game over?
Su Cheng glanced at those sultry red lips, then reluctantly closed her eyes.
Damn it. She was probably the first transmigrator to dig her own grave this fast…
“Make it quick. I’m afraid of pain.”
“As you wish.” Ling Yuexi slowly pulled the trigger.
Second by second ticked by. But the shot never came.
Everything stood still—Ling Yuexi just stared at the fiery red mark between Su Cheng’s brows. Then, suddenly, she lowered the gun.
“…Boring.”
Hearing her voice, Su Cheng opened her eyes in disbelief. Wait—did she just… survive?
Was that a test? If she’d resisted, would she have been killed right then and there?
She turned her head and saw Ling Yuexi walking toward the motorcycle, fiddling with something on her wrist device.
Probably contacting her team. She still had two companions, right? Seemed like they’d be out of this hellhole soon.
Eyes sparkling, Su Cheng limped over and put on her best pitiful act. “Big sis, can you take me with you? I… I have nowhere else to go…”
Ling Yuexi didn’t turn around. Her voice came through the mask in that eerie doll-like tone. “What’s your name?”
Su Cheng paused for a moment before replying, “Cheng Su.” No one knew her by that name anyway, only as Chao Feng. No harm done.
“Cheng Su, huh…” Ling Yuexi murmured. “Then I’ll call you Su Su from now on~~”
“Pfft, what a soft girl name.”
Su Cheng was a little embarrassed, but she still forced a cheerful smile and said, “Okay~ Then what’s your name, big sis? I’m already going home with you, but I still don’t know your name~~”
Huh? Once she accepted being called “Susu,” even her tone naturally started to get cutesy.
Hearing that voice—practically the same pitch as her own voice changer—Ling Yuexi was in a great mood and teased her, “Not telling you”
“Huh? Then how should I address you, big sis?”
“Figure it out yourself”
After that, Ling Yuexi stopped talking to her and focused on adjusting her device. Su Cheng just sat nearby, watching her.
Like an angel on one side, a demon on the other—a case of split personality.
She only seemed like a normal person when she was seriously working.
The silver scorpion braid shimmered softly under the moonlight. Even wrapped once around her neck, it was still very long. It even looked like she had more hair than Su Cheng.
Su Cheng rested her chin in her hand, gazing at the person in front of her. This Omega… was the one who ultimately bathed Longxiao Palace in bl00d. Even Mo Mei was killed by her gun. Only then did the original Su Cheng, consumed by madness, explode with terrifying power—rushing through layers of mechas despite the bullets riddling her body, until she stabbed a blade into Ling Yuexi’s chest. The two of them died together.
Thinking of that final scene, Su Cheng’s eyes darkened.
How could she forget what a lunatic this woman truly was?
Both times she encountered her, she barely escaped with her life. Ling Yuexi took pleasure in killing—able to wear a smiling mask, speak in a sweet baby voice, and shoot you dead without a second thought.
Overhead, the sound of something approaching grew louder. She looked up and saw a large white mech flying toward them.
Ling Yuexi heard it too and waved up at the sky. When she turned to glance at Su Cheng, the moonlight happened to fall across her shoulder, making her seem divine and radiant, like a celestial maiden.
“Let’s go. Time to go home.”
Su Cheng was momentarily stunned—and suddenly, her vision blurred.
