- Chapter 10 - Crimson Lips of the Beauty
The completely drunk Yu Shang was really dragged, half-conscious, all the way to the hotel entrance by her.
Yu Peirong didn’t hesitate. She opened the door and pushed him straight onto the bed.
Normally, two Alphas wouldn’t have anything happen between them. But if one of them was willing to yield a little, it was hard to say. Alpha and Alpha relationships weren’t unheard of. Since he wanted to treat Qi Xiyao like some kind of Omega plaything, she decided to let him taste that same feeling first.
The system had already told her she needed to act like a true scumbag Alpha. And a real scumbag didn’t just bully random Omegas. They had no problem pulling down the people around them too. Yu Peirong had no guilt about it at all.
But just as she was about to cover him with a blanket, Yu Shang suddenly woke up.
His narrow, phoenix-shaped eyes were still cloudy and unfocused. He squinted as he tried to adjust to the dim light. After a few seconds, when he saw what Yu Peirong was doing, his face, already flushed from the alcohol, twisted into a frown. He smacked her hand away hard. She didn’t have time to pull back, and a red mark appeared on the back of her hand immediately.
Yu Shang hadn’t held back. His breath reeked of alcohol. But instead of getting up or leaving, he did something unexpected. He leaned lazily against the headboard.
“I’ve told you so many times, Zhao Siyan. Don’t let Yu Peirong set her sights on Qi Xiyao. I’m serious about her.”
Yu Shang hiccupped, looking like a dying stray dog, completely stripped of any charm he normally had.
“And also, my family is pushing me to move forward with the deal with President Liang. We need Yu Peirong to…”
He seemed to have mistaken Yu Peirong for someone else. Coincidentally, Yu Peirong knew that person well, so she paused and said nothing.
The room was dim and hazy. The air was thick with an intense and cloying fragrance. It smelled like a stimulant meant to provoke interaction between Alphas and Omegas. Slowly, that subtle, ambiguous scent spread throughout the space.
Yu Peirong felt a little uncomfortable. She still hadn’t fully adjusted to pheromones and felt like she was close to being overwhelmed again. Still, this one wasn’t as strong as Qi Xiyao’s scent. That grapefruit and green tea fragrance she remembered from before had truly been irresistible. She even had the mood to compare the difference.
Yu Shang muttered a few more words before passing out, snoring loudly.
Yu Peirong had originally planned to just leave him there and not bother. But now, she found herself curious about the parts of his sentence he never finished.
What was the Yu family currently planning?
She had avoided going home lately to keep from being exposed, and her family hadn’t reached out to her either.
In the original version of this story, from the original host’s perspective, the family clearly favored her younger brother. They ignored her entirely. Only her late mother had ever cared about her. Her mother had died when she was ten. Her health had declined after giving birth, and her relationship with Yu Peirong’s father had been filled with conflict. Years of depression wore her down, and she passed away at a young age.
With her father’s help, the original host had used her mother’s large inheritance to start an entertainment company. But because she lacked skill and discipline, she eventually handed over control to Yu Shang.
Thinking about whatever scheme they were now working on, Yu Peirong sighed. To avoid extra trouble, she decided to let this poisonous snake go for now.
But just because she didn’t plan to let him fall into President Wang’s trap didn’t mean she wasn’t going to teach him a lesson.
Yu Peirong thought for a moment. Then she raised her hand and smacked the side of Yu Shang’s sleeping face like she was swatting a fly.
Slap. Slap.
Two clean hits, one on each cheek.
Yu Shang jolted awake, his face stinging. He struggled to sit up and saw Yu Peirong standing in front of him. He suddenly remembered that this wasn’t the first time she had slapped him recently, and fury welled up inside him.
But before he could speak, Yu Peirong calmly said, “What were you doing in President Wang’s room?”
That question silenced him. At first, he didn’t believe her. Then he looked around and realized that, indeed, they were in an unfamiliar hotel room.
He hadn’t been so drunk that he couldn’t remember. He recalled clearly how the executives had been urging him to drink. Yu Peirong had said she would take care of him afterward, which was why he had kept drinking.
And his drink had definitely been swapped out.
“Why are you looking at me like that? I didn’t do anything.”
Yu Peirong casually played with her smooth nails and looked at the man on the bed with an innocent expression.
“I just saw Qi Xiyao getting a little too eager,” she said quietly. Then she leaned close to his ear and added in a soft voice, “Didn’t you say we needed investment from President Wang? Wouldn’t it be great to win him over? Why let someone else take the chance?”
Yu Shang felt the rage explode in his chest. The alcohol in his system seemed to boil away. He jumped out of bed, furious. He had never met anyone as ridiculous as Yu Peirong.
“Sending your own younger brother to someone’s bed to earn investment? You are completely…”
The insult he wanted to say circled around in his head but was finally replaced with, “unreasonable.” He still had a shred of rationality left and didn’t want to tear things apart with Yu Peirong just yet. Still, he was so angry his whole body trembled. He quickly straightened his clothes, grabbed Yu Peirong by the arm, and dragged her out.
Following behind him step by step, Yu Peirong was quietly sneering in her heart.
He spoke so righteously, but when it came to his actions, it was a completely different story. He claimed Qi Xiyao was the one he loved, yet he still used manipulative tactics to make her fall for him. He even gaslighted her into thinking she was dirty and unworthy. The original host was his sister. She was flawed, but he still humiliated her to death.
When they returned to the banquet, Yu Shang was full of anger with nowhere to release it. He instinctively looked for Qi Xiyao to drag her away, but she had disappeared. He didn’t have time to search. Just looking at Yu Peirong made him sick. He tried calling Qi Xiyao, but she didn’t answer. Frustrated, he turned and stormed off.
Only after he had completely vanished did Yu Peirong bring Qi Xiyao out.
Qi Xiyao’s makeup tonight was delicate and flawless. She looked like a soft, elegant ragdoll cat. When she saw Yu Peirong, she couldn’t help walking quickly toward her. When she heard Yu Peirong say she had gone to “discuss something with President Wang,” she pursed her lips and reluctantly let go of Yu Peirong’s arm.
Yu Peirong had been gone for half an hour.
When she returned to the banquet, she saw Qi Xiyao sitting quietly in a corner, her face cold and unapproachable. She had a clear aura that warned strangers to stay away. No one came over. A few who tried to make conversation were quickly and politely rejected.
Wearing high heels, Yu Peirong picked up a glass of red wine. She didn’t drink it. She simply held it and breathed in the rich fragrance.
Her long hair flowed down her shoulders, and a few strands framed her pale, graceful neck. The color on her lips had faded a little. The pomegranate red lipstick had become just a shade lighter.
“What’s wrong?”
Yu Peirong couldn’t help but lower her voice. She had noticed that the corners of Qi Xiyao’s large, watery almond eyes were tinged with red. This time, the tears weren’t an act to win sympathy. Instead, she looked like a pear blossom in spring rain—unintentionally beautiful, the kind of beauty that made people hold their breath.
“I thought you weren’t coming back.”
Some unknown emotion spilled over in her heart. In that moment, Qi Xiyao let go of all her previous caution. After hesitating for a moment, her voice trembled slightly with a hint of a sob.
She didn’t mean to say it like that, but Yu Peirong could guess what she was trying to express.
She was probably afraid that Yu Peirong would once again try to offer her to President Wang like a gift. Even if Qi Xiyao had ways to escape such situations, she couldn’t be completely sure she’d succeed every time.
After enduring too much pain in the past, she was always on guard.
Yu Peirong sighed quietly in her heart. She had to admit, although she had never been in love, it didn’t stop her from genuinely appreciating beauty. Faced with a vulnerable Qi Xiyao like this, she couldn’t bring herself to say anything harsh.
She lowered her eyes slowly, and her tone softened without her realizing.
“I’ll take you home.”
“Okay.”
At banquets or social events, Yu Peirong had long developed the habit of staying sober. After getting into the car, she instinctively wanted to help Qi Xiyao with her seatbelt but stopped herself, remembering to stay in character.
The car started slowly, this time with autopilot turned on.
“Yu… Sister Peirong, can I ask why you and Yu Shang were gone for so long?”
Qi Xiyao hesitated for a long time before asking.
Maybe it was because this version of Yu Peirong was the gentlest she had ever seen. Calling her “President Yu’s sister” felt awkward, as if she were calling herself Yu Shang’s sister-in-law. That idea made her stomach turn. She thought Yu Shang was disgusting to the core.
“President Yu” sounded too distant, so she settled on “Sister Peirong.” Luckily, the other woman didn’t seem to mind.
Yu Peirong hadn’t planned to hide it. After all, her character in the original novel was known for being ruthless and brainless. She might as well lean into it when necessary.
“I put Yu Shang on a bed. Why?”
Qi Xiyao thought she was joking. Her face was full of surprise, and she hadn’t even had time to process it before she saw Yu Peirong sneer slightly. She turned back with a half-smile and looked at her.
“What’s wrong? Did you want to get into President Wang’s bed instead?”
“No, definitely not.”
Just thinking of President Wang’s bloated figure, greasy face, and that strange, creepy smile—plus that shiny bald spot—made Qi Xiyao feel sick to her stomach. The image alone was nauseating.
But seeing Yu Peirong’s expression, which didn’t look like she was lying, filled her with a sudden sense of relief and satisfaction.
Qi Xiyao couldn’t help but laugh. Her fair fingertips covered her red lips slightly as she smiled. The grapefruit-colored lip gloss she wore gave her lips a perfect glassy shine, making them look tender and soft like a piece of sweet jelly.
While she was smiling, Yu Peirong’s gaze couldn’t help drifting to her lips. In her heart, she silently admired her. No wonder she was the female lead.
Every one of her features was flawless. Together, they formed a face that was balanced and beautiful in just the right way. Yu Peirong had read many ancient poems describing a beauty’s lips—phrases like “snowy dew on jade” came to mind. Just looking at them made her think they must be sweet, soft, and incredibly kissable.
“Sister Peirong, what are you thinking?”
Qi Xiyao asked nervously. Just a moment ago, she had asked a question, but Yu Peirong hadn’t answered. She just kept staring at her. Qi Xiyao’s heart began to race. After all, Yu Shang was still Yu Peirong’s younger brother. Maybe that earlier comment had just been a joke.
But Yu Peirong, lost in thought, blurted out without thinking.
“What brand of lip gloss are you using? Your lips look really kissable.”?
