“Help me, please.”
As the unique scent of yuzu green tea, belonging only to an Omega, entered her nose, Yu Peirong’s Alpha instincts were suddenly triggered. Her heart pounded violently in her chest, as if a thousand horses were charging through it. That overwhelming rush stirred the lingering will of the body’s original owner, which had not yet fully faded.
A burning sensation flared at the back of her neck, and her Alpha pheromones were on the verge of breaking free, ready to spill into the air.
In her original world, Yu Peirong had been just an ordinary woman. Gender was simply male or female, with no such thing as Alpha, Beta, or Omega. This was her first time experiencing life as an Alpha. Although her body lacked any unfamiliar anatomy, she still found herself unable to suppress the intense desire that burned within her. She dug her fingernails deep into her palms.
Yu Peirong forced herself to stay calm, then looked at the three men who were staring at one another in confusion. After a quick glance, she furrowed her brows and turned away. A moment later, she said one word clearly and coldly, “Leave.”
The three Alphas looked visibly displeased.
Three strong, fully grown men, and all Alphas at that, being told to get out by an unarmed woman was more than humiliating.
They had made arrangements with the hotel before arriving. But before anything could begin, they had been interrupted by this intruding woman. Judging by her presence and confidence, she likely had an impressive background. One of the more observant men noticed the high-end designer suit she was wearing. Under the dim lighting, he nudged his breathless companion with his elbow and motioned for them to leave quietly.
Once the three of them left, things became even harder for Yu Peirong.
She was losing control over her own pheromones. The scent of the Omega had drawn them out, and a bit of her pheromones had already escaped. Thankfully, the air was filled with so many mixed scents that it was impossible to tell exactly where hers had come from.
Trying to calm her racing heartbeat, Yu Peirong released Qi Xiyao and leaned against the wall. Only then did she have the presence of mind to take a closer look at the female lead from the book.
There was no denying that Qi Xiyao was stunning. She was the kind of beauty who could make anyone, regardless of gender, stop and stare.
Her features were sharp and well-defined, leaning toward a more striking look. But her eyes softened her appearance. They were round, almond-shaped, and gentle like those of a deer. Their graceful curve dulled much of the sharpness in her face. Her lips were thin and pale, but a splash of bl00d stained the center, adding an unexpected allure that was both innocent and provocative.
What stood out even more was her current state.
She had almost been assaulted by Alphas just moments ago. Her Omega pheromones had been forced out, and her smooth shoulders were partially exposed. There were scratch marks on her fair skin, wounds she had inflicted on herself to stay conscious. That bit of red against her pale shoulder stood out sharply.
Even the small glimpse of her bare shoulder was enough to make Yu Peirong’s heart race wildly. A shameful thought flashed across her mind. She wanted to pin this woman down and let that faint red scratch bloom into something even more suggestive and intimate.
Yu Peirong pressed hard on her pounding temple, forcing herself to clear her mind. Her eyes turned colder, as if all emotion had been frozen out of them.
Back in her world, she had just won an award last year, making her the youngest actress in film history to win both Golden Awards. At this moment, she could easily recall the script. Getting into character to portray the original host came naturally.
Once she fully immersed herself in the role, the fire burning in her body subsided. Her instincts to survive overtook the last traces of the host’s original emotions.
She had no intention of being torn apart by the story’s male and female leads. In the original plot, the male lead was cruel. After destroying the host’s scent glands, he would bring in five or six Alphas to use her for their own amusement. He would even inject her with drugs, leaving her in unbearable pain.
Now completely calm, Yu Peirong’s eyes turned cold as she looked at Qi Xiyao.
**
Qi Xiyao kept her eyes locked on Yu Peirong’s calm face. Her heart slowly sank into despair.
To tell the truth, even though she was known publicly as the girlfriend of Yu Shang, she was terribly afraid of his half-sister, Yu Peirong. Technically, considering the family ties, she should be calling her sister.
Qi Xiyao never liked Yu Shang. The relationship had always been one-sided. She never had the right to refuse him.
The Yu family controlled a vast investment empire. One branch of that empire was Yishui Entertainment, managed by the Yu siblings.
Yishui Entertainment ranked among the top three companies in the entertainment industry and had strong connections in the business world. It would not be an exaggeration to say they held power over half the industry. Qi Xiyao was one of their artists. Once she caught Yu Shang’s eye, she was forced into a relationship with him behind the scenes.
Not long ago, Yu Shang had too much to drink and tried to forcefully mark her. Qi Xiyao hated the smell of alcohol in his pheromones. When he tried to touch her, she ended up vomiting all over him. That was the only thing that stopped him.
But being tied to that man, even for one day, made her feel like she was walking on thin ice. The danger never left her.
She first met Yu Peirong at a family banquet.
That was also the night Yu Shang got drunk and tried to drag her into a room. Desperate and helpless, Qi Xiyao turned to Yu Peirong for help. She had hoped that, as another woman, Peirong might show her some sympathy. But to her disappointment, the woman had only smiled coldly while twirling her wine glass. The reflection of her beautiful face in the drink was stunning, but her gaze was icy and distant.
Yu Peirong had assumed she was seducing Yu Shang. She believed they were in it together and showed her no kindness at all.
Now, Qi Xiyao’s legs gave out. She knelt helplessly on the soft carpet, her eyes filled with complicated and conflicting emotions.
The pheromones from multiple Alphas still lingered in the air, triggering her own uncontrollable release. No matter how hard she tried to suppress it, some still leaked out. It was not hard to guess who had arranged for her to be brought to this hotel.
She remembered how Yu Peirong had looked at her the last time she was nearly assaulted. There had been a strange look in her eyes, something ambiguous and hard to read. It had made Qi Xiyao uncomfortable. But now, she could clearly feel that she was entering the most sensitive phase of her Omega heat.
She had no suppressants with her. If she left now, she might not even make it down the hall before other Alphas caught her scent. That would be far more dangerous.
And now, the sound of hurried footsteps echoed from the hallway. Along with it came the muffled coughs and heavy breathing of men. Clearly, the pheromones had leaked so much that others had already picked up on it.
Qi Xiyao noticed that the coughing outside sounded familiar. Then came a voice that struck her ears like thunder.
“Yaoyao, is that you?”
The moment she heard Yu Shang’s voice, a wave of disgust rose in her chest, thick and greasy. Without hesitation, she made up her mind.
“Elder sister…”
Yu Peirong’s head was aching. She was trying to suppress the newly awakened gland in her body. For an Alpha, resisting the instinct to mark an Omega in heat was extremely difficult. In her previous world, she had always been single and had never known what it felt like to burn with such overwhelming desire. It was like a wildfire that, with the slightest spark, could reduce everything to ash.
The scent of yuzu green tea filled the air, sweet and fragrant, like a strong magnet to an Alpha. While Yu Peirong was still struggling to stay composed, Qi Xiyao’s soft and weak voice suddenly reached her ears.
Yu Peirong lowered her head.
In the dim, yellow light of the hotel room, the disheveled figure of the woman came into view.
When Yu Peirong had first entered, Qi Xiyao’s clothes had still been mostly intact. Only her shoulder had been slightly exposed. But now, large portions of skin were visible. Her long skirt had been lifted, barely covering her hips, and the sheer fabric revealed her pale skin underneath.
Her toenails were painted a vivid red that stood out starkly against her fair skin. As she stood barefoot on the dark carpet, her toes looked like flickering flames. Before Yu Peirong could react, the woman lunged forward and threw herself into her arms. With a mix of shame and desperation, she clutched Yu Peirong’s collar tightly.
“Elder sister, can you give me a temporary mark…”
As she spoke, a faint blush spread across the corners of her eyes. Her gaze shimmered with tears. She even lifted her long hair from the back of her neck, revealing the scent gland behind her ear.
Her voice was very quiet. Compared to the loud banging at the door, her words could barely be heard. Only by leaning in close to Yu Peirong’s ear did the sound become clear. There was a slight tremble in her voice. Perhaps it was because some of the original host’s consciousness still lingered, but when Yu Peirong felt Qi Xiyao trembling in her arms, she instinctively swallowed.
A fire smoldered in her lower abdomen. Her heart itched with a desire she tried desperately to contain.
“Yaoyao, are you alright?” Yu Shang’s anxious voice called out from outside. He knocked repeatedly on the door. Once he caught the scent of the yuzu green tea pheromones, he lost control and began slamming his shoulder against the door. His tone remained falsely concerned. “Are you okay? I’m coming in, alright?”
“Elder sister!”
Qi Xiyao’s eyes filled with tears. With each louder crash at the door, her expression became more desperate and hopeless. At that moment, Yu Peirong took her hand and held it firmly. Her palm was damp and cold with sweat.
Qi Xiyao shut her eyes tightly and leaned against Yu Peirong’s chest. Her fists clenched in silent fear. She braced herself for the pain that should have come from an Alpha biting her scent gland.
But the pain never came.
Qi Xiyao trembled and slowly opened her eyes again.
What she saw was Yu Peirong’s face, filled with unmistakable mockery.
The scent of yuzu green tea lingered heavily in the air. Yu Peirong’s back was soaked in sweat. Her fingers were shaking slightly, and she relied on the pain of her nails digging into her palm to keep herself in control.
Her long, slender fingers gripped Qi Xiyao’s chin. Warm breath brushed against her ear. Yu Peirong’s ears were burning red, but her voice remained steady. It was as calm and deliberate as if she were reciting lines on a stage. She spoke slowly and clearly, each word sharp and cold.
“Who are you pretending to be so pitiful for? If you break up with my brother, I’ll give you anything you want.”
“With your cheap pheromones, do you really think you can make me feel anything?”
