I Tried to Become a Worthless Scumbag to Break Our Engagement for His Happiness, but Instead I Was Hugged, Kissed, and Sworn Eternal Love by the Ice Knight (BL) - CHAPTER 1
While Fleck was out playing around at the amusement hall at night, he was suddenly caught by his fiancée and dragged into a separate room.
The face of his fiancée, whom he hadn’t seen in a long time, was as beautiful as ever, and colder than ever before. He was not the kind of person who would ever step into an amusement hall that allowed children inside late at night, so his presence stood out sharply.
The companions who had been drinking and playing with Fleck lost their words, their usual foul mouths silenced in shock. Well, that was only natural, Fleck thought, as he stared at his fiancée’s shining silver hair that gleamed like a mirror.
Fleck’s fiancée was known everywhere as the Prince of Ice. Normally, someone of his status should be called by his family name, but his beauty was so striking that people called him the Prince of Ice even to his face. He was that famous.
Who would have ever imagined that such a man would take Fleck into a private room? Fleck had never even told his nameless night companions who his fiancée was. So now, in the room they were shown into, Fleck slumped down lazily on the sofa with the low table between them.
Across from him, his fiancée sat down quietly, his posture proper and straight, and he spoke clearly.
“Your engagement to me is hereby annulled. You know the reason.”
Hearing that cold, emotionless voice, Fleck gave a crooked little smile.
“Eh, what? You’ve got to be kidding, right?”
He muttered; That’s not a very funny joke.
His fiancée placed something down on the low table. It was a ring set with a black jewel.
“Take yours off too.”
“Eh? Hah? What? I’m not even wearing it today.”
Fleck waved his hand with a cheap ring glittering on his finger, as if to say, See? Here’s the proof.
“I see.”
Murmuring just that, Heliosphere—Fleck’s fiancée—stood up and left.
After watching him disappear through the door, Fleck let out a long, heavy sigh and collapsed onto the sofa.
“At last… he finally broke off the engagement… thank god…”
He reached for the ring left behind on the table. Staring quietly at the black gem set into the band, he pulled out the simple chain he always wore around his neck.
It was the one thing he never let leave his body. Hanging from it was another ring.
Set into its mount was a jewel the same clear sky-blue as Heliosphere’s beautiful eyes. Fleck pressed the two rings together so they overlapped as one.
They were the engagement rings. Twin rings with gems that matched each other’s eyes, shining as proof of their love.
Fleck closed his hand tightly around them.
“…As if I’d ever throw them away.”
He whispered to himself. From now on, he would live with these rings as his charm. He had come this far. He had finally reached this point. Somehow, he felt like crying. But he held it back.
He clenched his teeth. He had no right to cry like a child— not when he was the one who had tormented Heliosphere so much.
Closing his eyes, he exhaled slowly. He already knew what punishment awaited him after this. He would accept it fully, and live with it.
That was the fitting end for a worthless scumbag who had caused Heliosphere nothing but pain.
When Fleck slowly opened his eyes, his black pupils were wet, but no tears fell. And so, Fleck was dispatched to the Eastern Demonfront.
