I Tried to Become a Worthless Scumbag to Break Our Engagement for His Happiness, but Instead I Was Hugged, Kissed, and Sworn Eternal Love by the Ice Knight (BL) - CHAPTER 18
Heliosphere tilted his head slightly at Fleck’s proper reaction, then showed a faintly displeased expression.
“Everyone knows you are coming. Tomorrow, make sure you get down.”
“… Understood…”
Fleck realized that Heliosphere’s bad side—the part of him that never bends once he’s decided something—was at work again. He had plenty of complaints, but in the end, he only nodded in agreement. Still, because his reply sounded sulky, Heliosphere fixed his eyes on him as if to say, what do you think you understand so well?
No matter what kind of emotion was behind that gaze, Fleck wanted him to stop. He loved those sky-colored eyes too much. If possible, he wanted to keep looking at them forever, but instead he lowered his gaze and stroked the ring over his clothes.
“Fleck.”
“Y-Yes!?”
Fleck had been thinking he would later look at the gem of the ring to comfort himself. He panicked, wondering if Heliosphere had somehow seen through that wicked thought.
“Inside the academy, you should wear this.”
Heliosphere handed him a long, thin box. It was a fine box, very elegant.
Curious, Fleck accepted it and opened the lid. Inside was a piece of cloth with beautiful embroidery.
“Um… this is…?”
Not knowing what it was, he asked. Heliosphere took the cloth in hand and moved to sit beside him.
“A-ah, um, ah, wha—”
With Heliosphere suddenly so close, Fleck reflexively shut his eyes. From the deep green uniform that reflected his vast intelligence came a faint scent unique to Heliosphere, his breath was so near, it was unbearable.
Without a word, Heliosphere deftly fastened the cloth onto him.
Fleck let out a small “ah” as the fabric wrapped around his head, covering his left eye.
“Is it too tight?”
“N-no, it’s fine. Thank you… for your concern.”
“Don’t mind it. Just get used to wearing it every day.”
“Yes…”
The sky-colored eyes, filled with kindness, poured into his right one, and Fleck let his gaze wander. His hand unconsciously stroked both the newly fitted eyepatch and the ring at his chest.
The eyepatch was soft, its fit extremely comfortable. From the brief glimpse he caught of the embroidery, it seemed to be the crest of Lord Rocca. That meant, inside the academy, it was an ornament declaring that Fleck was connected to Heliosphere and the Nuuno family.
Fleck sternly reminded himself that this was not some special gift.
“How about where it touches your ear?”
Those perfectly shaped fingers brushed against Fleck’s ear.
“Eh—ah—n-no, it’s… fine…”
Even after that, Heliosphere kept adjusting the eyepatch again and again, asking each time if it hurt or felt strange, and touching him. It almost made Fleck misunderstand, so he cursed Heliosphere’s kindness in his heart.
