I Tried to Become a Worthless Scumbag to Break Our Engagement for His Happiness, but Instead I Was Hugged, Kissed, and Sworn Eternal Love by the Ice Knight (BL) - CHAPTER 49
“Fleck… if you stay here, you will freeze.”
Heliosphere, who just moments ago had created a frozen world, now spoke gently to Fleck.
To her, Fleck only smiled as if to say it was nothing at all. Bathed in the sunlight that his special constitution had brought back, he shone dazzlingly in Heliosphere’s eyes.
“Your frost can even endure against magical beasts.”
From her sky-blue eyes, she glanced once at Brave, who had collapsed with his sword still in hand, then returned her gaze to Fleck.
“For someone who has never seen the battlefield… such bitter cold would be cruel, I fear.”
So, he reached out and took her hand, telling her she should stop already. It was colder than he expected, so Fleck wrapped it in both of his own, warming it.
Heliosphere widened her eyes, then smiled happily.
“Fufu, that’s true. …Let’s go home, Fleck.”
“Yes, Lord Rocca.”
Heliosphere gave Brave a passing glance, then, as usual, supported Fleck respectfully as they left the platform. What worried Fleck was whether the knights would change their attitude toward Heliosphere after what they had seen. But the gazes that followed her were filled only with admiration, respect, and awe. Fleck felt relieved.
“Leave the cleanup to you, Lord Plut.”
Since Heliosphere had already planned to go home, and now had to escort Fleck, she said this coldly to Roland. But Roland, with a look that said of course, lightly patted her shoulder.
“Leave it to me, Lord Rocca.”
At that exchange, so full of trust, Fleck felt a little uncomfortable. But he bowed slightly to Roland to cover it. Roland, in turn, gave Fleck a deep bow—filled with gratitude for dispersing the magical runaway that had shaken the entire knight order so easily.
“Alright, everyone, move! Don’t just stand around—Lord Brave, you still alive? Check if the barrier pillars are damaged! Report to your superiors! Hey, Lord Jego! You, come here—you were part of this, so you’ll need to write a report!”
Roland began giving quick orders, though he felt a faint sense of unease about Jego’s expression.
On the way to the waiting carriage, a snowflake of six crystal points brushed past Fleck’s nose. He raised the corners of his lips—“It’s been a while since I’ve seen that.”
“Shall I show you snow next time?” Heliosphere said softly.
“W-wow, I want to see.”
“Then next time, for sure.”
Their shoulders and arms touched, their hands held tightly together. It was too close, he should have said no. But Fleck accepted it, because now was not the time to scold her.
Even if she had been asked to fight, Heliosphere did not like her magical runaway. She could cause it on purpose, control it with magic tools, or restrain it by willpower. But in truth, she hated it. That was why she was weighed down in spirit. Proof of it was how she kept reaching out, seeking warmth.
The cold still clung to her.
In such a state, Fleck could not push her away. Because Fleck had been consistent from the very beginning. He wanted to make Heliosphere happy. Happiness and freezing could never go together. So, he stroked her back. He usually never did. But now he did. Because it was needed. She was still cold.
Even after getting into the carriage, Fleck continued to carefully touch different parts of Heliosphere’s body, trying to warm her.
“Fleck, you have talent for massage as well.”
Her cheeks now red, her hands warm, Heliosphere praised him, and Fleck felt relieved.
“…A little longer, please…?”
But when she asked for more, Fleck found himself continuing to caress her until the carriage reached the mansion—receiving, in a sense, a kind of reward.
