I Tried to Become a Worthless Scumbag to Break Our Engagement for His Happiness, but Instead I Was Hugged, Kissed, and Sworn Eternal Love by the Ice Knight (BL) - CHAPTER 7
Fleck’s special constitution was this: he absorbed magic power, turned it into an attribute-less form, and then released it back into nature. That effect could also be granted to others.
And that was all he could do.
Nothing else—everything else about him was below average. It was as if he had been born for the sole purpose of keeping Heliosphere alive, Fleck thought.
But Fleck loved Heliosphere, so he didn’t mind. He kept telling himself not to mind. Even as Heliosphere grew taller, stronger, more and more excellent, while the gap between them widened and their hearts drifted apart, Fleck pretended to be fine.
He had a feeling.
That someday, he would be thrown away by Heliosphere.
Tossed aside like a used magic stone. And yet, he thought, that was fine. Because he only wanted Heliosphere to be happy. So he acted like the kind of man who was easy to abandon. He forced himself to gain weight until he was fat. He hated it, but he behaved rudely and selfishly. He kept asking Heliosphere for things.
Even when people called him “Buttack” behind his back, even when they mocked him, even when his family scolded him, he continued to play the role of a bad child.
Now, the Heliosphere standing before him was declaring the engagement broken.
There was a beautiful woman at his side. Fleck thought they were perfect together. Truly, this was Heliosphere’s happiness—his ideal future.
Fleck had no memory of it, but apparently, he had harassed that woman, unwilling to accept them as a couple.
She was a saint, and a saint was an important figure in the kingdom.
To commit a malicious act against such a person could never be forgiven. And so, Fleck was to be exiled to the Eastern Demonfront. Fleck thought it was a very good ending. He truly had no memory of bullying her, but still, punishment should be accepted for doing wrong. And exile to the Eastern Demonfront meant he would not shame his family.
Most of all, he could finally disappear from Heliosphere’s sight. Fleck smiled naturally. He had to say farewell properly. He had to let himself be forgotten. Surely the saint would be able to cure Heliosphere’s peculiar constitution.
“Since you say so, I will obey. It’s all right—I had accepted long ago that you do not love me. So please… don’t be alone in the cold anymore.”
He managed to say it.
It reminded him of the first time, when he had properly greeted Heliosphere with a “nice to meet you.” And suddenly, the two of them faded from view. They turned white, glowing for just a moment.
He saw a smile—someone holding their child. Ah… happiness. Yes. It hurt to think he would never again see Heliosphere’s sky-blue eyes. But Fleck prayed. Prayed that this happiness would last forever.
