I Turned a Competitive Variety Show into a Dating Show - Chapter 30
“Mmm!”
The sound came as Shi Xu’s hair was yanked. Though the girl in her arms was weak, the tug still stung.
Shi Xu tilted her head back slightly, her gaze meeting Jian Zhi’s dazed eyes and flushed cheeks. For a moment, she thought she’d gladly let her sister pull her hair out completely.
Then, realizing how absurd that thought was, she chuckled softly and bit Jian Zhi’s lips, asking playfully, “Good thing I have thick hair, or it wouldn’t survive your yanking, Sister. If I went bald, would you take responsibility?”
Jian Zhi’s mind was already hazy, but the word “responsibility” triggered a reflexive resistance. She pushed weakly at Shi Xu, tears trembling in her eyes.
“No… we can’t… we can’t do this.”
Shi Xu understood perfectly. They had already made their positions clear. Yet, even with that understanding, hearing such a rejection still stung. Her gaze lowered, she kissed Jian Zhi silently, her lips moving from her mouth to her chest, lingering there before drifting lower. Even her heartache couldn’t stop her from nursing.
Her heart might be dead, but her mouth wasn’t. It could still kiss Jian Zhi into a dazed, delirious state.
Jian Zhi gazed at Shi Xu through the watery haze blurring her vision, seeing her as a wronged puppy, ears drooping and tail no longer wagging wildly. An inexplicable tightness gripped her heart, and she felt an urge to comfort her, but her outstretched hand was abruptly interrupted by a sudden, piercing cry that shattered the silence of the room.
Shi Xu’s pupils trembled as her palm touched something wet. She lifted her eyelids to meet Jian Zhi’s gaze. Jian Zhi’s face was flushed crimson, her lower lip bitten tightly, the corners of her eyes stained bl00d-red by tears, her gaze shifting with a thousand unspoken emotions.
Shi Xu swallowed hard and continued to devour the softness, her hands never idle.
Jian Zhi bit her lip, her breath catching sharply when she met Shi Xu’s eyes before quickly averting her gaze. Her evasion was painfully obvious, and another wound tore through Shi Xu’s heart, shattering the fragile tenderness she had maintained for so long.
“S-slow down!” Jian Zhi pleaded through tears, but Shi Xu paid no heed.
The air hung thick with erotic scents as Jian Zhi clung to the bedsheets at the edge of the mattress. If Shi Xu hadn’t been gripping her waist, she would have tumbled headfirst to the floor.
She had tried to escape, but barely managed two steps before being caught. Then came a fiercer assault, as if punishing her for her defiance.
Her mind reeled, her body limp and aching. Even her voice was slurred, her hoarse sobs weak and frail, sounding less like pleas for mercy and more like desperate enticements.
Shi Xu kissed Jian Zhi’s neck, her fingers tightening around it. “Don’t worry, Sister,” she murmured, “I’ll make sure you have a night you’ll never forget.”
After all, there wouldn’t be another chance like this. Even if there were, Jian Zhi would never touch her again. This intimacy felt like sucking on candy laced with glass shards—sweet at first, but cutting her throat as she swallowed.
“Xiao Xu, let me rest for a bit,” Jian Zhi said, leaning in to kiss her, her eagerness obvious.
Shi Xu narrowed her eyes, her glass-like eyes swirling with dark currents. Jian Zhi knew her feelings, yet used her drunken state to tease her. Even as their bodies intertwined, she never said she hated it. But the moment Shi Xu tried to cross the line, Jian Zhi would retreat to safety, treating her like a dog to be played with.
Shi Xu had thought being called “puppy” was just a playful term of endearment, but now she realized it was a stark truth.
“You’re really…!” Shi Xu hissed through clenched teeth, biting Jian Zhi’s neck in a small fury, leaving deep teeth marks on her throbbing pulse.
Jian Zhi whimpered softly, leaning forward and clutching the bedsheets, trying to escape again. Shi Xu tightened her grip around Jian Zhi’s slender waist, her fingers digging into her flesh, leaving bright red marks.
“Don’t even think about running. Tonight is our wedding night.”
This time, Shi Xu didn’t hold back. She went all the way. The room was decorated to match the atmosphere of a wedding night. Let’s just pretend it’s our wedding night, she thought.
“What flower-candle night? What are you talking about?” Jian Zhi’s voice trembled, her tone wavering with each word.
Shi Xu said nothing, instead gripping Jian Zhi’s right hand and biting a ring of teeth marks around her ring finger before solemnly kissing it. Jian Zhi won’t remember any of this when she sobers up anyway, she thought, so let her be foolish just this once.
Jian Zhi felt a dampness on the back of her neck. When she turned her head, she saw Shi Xu had buried her face in the crook of her neck, saying nothing as she clung to Jian Zhi’s body, their limbs entwined.
Shi Xu’s eyes were rimmed with red, her glass-like pupils dark and unfathomable. She bit Jian Zhi’s shoulder hard, ignoring her pained cries and sobs, wanting only to saturate her with her scent and claim her entirely as her own.
But the bright moon hanging high in the sky couldn’t shine on her alone. Night always ends. As the first rays of dawn filtered through the curtains, Shi Xu gazed at Jian Zhi’s peaceful sleeping face, her mind racing. With great effort, she untangled her thoughts from the chaotic mess.
She stared at Jian Zhi’s exquisite, cold beauty for a long time, until her eyes began to sting. Finally, she pulled away, got out of bed, dressed swiftly, and left with resolute steps. Any hesitation would have doomed her.
Before leaving, she instructed the hotel manager to prepare a light meal and deliver it to the room at eight o’clock. She also personally selected clothes for Jian Zhi. With these arrangements made, she strode out of the hotel, her retreating figure radiating effortless grace.
As soon as she sat in the car, she regretted it. She slumped over the steering wheel, her lips pursed, tears welling in her eyes. A knock on the window startled her, forcing the tears back.
“What are you doing here at this hour?” Shi Mu asked, leaning against the car window.
Shi Xu remained silent.
Waking up with a body aching all over, memories flooded back so quickly that her mind hadn’t fully cleared yet. Her face flushed crimson.
She held up her hand, gazing at the faint bite mark on her ring finger. A tender smile curved her lips. Honeymoon night? How childish.
But where had the little dog gone? The room was utterly silent. Had she left?
A knock sounded at the door. Hearing it was the manager, Jian Zhi opened the door. The manager entered, set down breakfast and clothes, and turned to leave without another word. Jian Zhi quickly asked where Shi Xu had gone.
“Miss Shi had to return home for urgent business. She asked you to rest well and return at your convenience. If you like it here, you’re welcome to stay as long as you wish.”
The smile vanished from Jian Zhi’s face, her heart sinking. Last night had been so intense, Shi Xu clinging to her and whispering embarrassing things. Now, she’d abandoned her this morning. Had she taken Jian Zhi’s words to heart and decided to avoid further entanglement?
So, even she couldn’t stand it.
Of course. Someone as dull and difficult as me… Shi Xu’s departure was inevitable.
No one would stay by her side once they knew her true nature.
Jian Zhi let out a self-deprecating laugh, covered her eyes, and buried her face in the quilt.
