I Was a Royal Palace Knight, But I Turned Out to Be an Omega, So I Had to Resign (BL) - Chapter 13
“Alright, then take off your clothes.”
Adrian turned his back to me and began adjusting some kind of equipment like he was used to it. I reluctantly took off my jacket and started unbuttoning my shirt.
“Um, Adrian-san.”
“Just call me Adrian. After all, you’re Leo’s fiancé.”
“Ah, okay… Adrian.”
It felt a little embarrassing, but I appreciated how friendly he was.
“Has Prince Leon always been like that?”
“Like what?”
“Well, so precise and strict…”
Adrian laughed as he answered.
“Yeah, he’s been that way since he was a kid. Leon has always been very aware of his responsibilities as royalty. Especially his mother—she raised him pretty strictly.”
I nodded. That explained why he’s such a perfectionist.
“But deep down, he’s actually very passionate. He just has a hard time showing his feelings.”
Adrian came over to me and placed some kind of device against my back. It felt cold, and I shivered.
“Okay, I’ll start now. Try to relax.”
Adrian’s hands gently touched my back as he murmured something like a spell, pressing on certain points.
“Can you tell me how you changed from Beta to Omega?”
“Ah, well… it happened during a battle at the eastern border fortress. I took a poison arrow to protect Prince Leon. After that, I had a high fever and was bedridden for several days. When the fever finally broke, I had become an Omega.”
“A poison arrow…”
Adrian’s hand paused for a moment, and I saw his expression cloud over with concern.
“Do you know what kind of poison it was?”
“No. The doctors didn’t really explain the details about the poison.”
“I see…”
Adrian fell silent for a moment, as if deep in thought. I couldn’t tell, but maybe something was bothering him?
“How’s your heat? Any changes in your body compared to when you were a Beta?”
“I’ve only had heat twice so far, but it was really tough. My body got hot, my chest felt tight… and, well, it’s embarrassing, but I got very frustrated.”
Just thinking about how I felt during heat makes my face flush.
“Also, I’ve become more sensitive to smells than before. Especially to the scent of Alphas…”
“Makes sense. Those are typical Omega symptoms.”
Adrian nodded as he touched my neck and chest. His touch was purely professional, like a doctor’s, without any hidden intentions.
“Still, your body looks very healthy. Usually, the transition from Beta to Omega puts a lot of strain on the body.”
Adrian sounded surprised.
“Yeah, I’m confident about my health. I never got sick even when I was a knight!”
“You probably have a high adaptability to environmental changes.”
Adrian said with admiration. I suddenly had a question.
“Can I ask something?”
“Sure.”
“Why did I change from Beta to Omega? Does that really happen?”
Adrian hesitated a bit before answering.
“It’s very rare, but it does happen. Especially in places with strong magical energy, and when someone undergoes severe stress. In your case, the poison probably played a role.”
Even as he said this, I felt like he was holding back something.
“One more thing about the suppressants…”
Adrian looked at me seriously.
“Regular use isn’t good. Even if your body handles side effects well.”
“But what if heat comes suddenly…”
“That’s true, but suppressants have limits. If you keep ignoring your natural heat cycles, future heats might be even stronger.”
I bit my lip, feeling worried.
“So what should I do…”
“Normally, it’s best to have someone you trust help you during heat.”
“Help me?”
Adrian cleared his throat lightly.
“In other words, be with someone… you know, in that way. It’s the most natural way to cope, and it puts the least strain on your body.”
I blushed deeply. I understood what he meant, but…
“There’s no one I could ask for that…”
There was no way I could tell my fellow knights, “Hey, I’m in heat, help me out.” In noble society, that would be a disaster.
At that moment, the door opened and Prince Leon came in.
“Are you done?”
“Ah, Leo. Just in time. We were talking about the suppressants.”
Adrian grinned as he said it.
“What’s the result?”
“Your health is very good. But regular use of suppressants isn’t recommended.”
Prince Leon nodded.
“I thought so.”
“When heat comes, it’s best to have someone you trust help. That is, someone to…”
“I told you, there’s no one like that…”
I said, troubled. Prince Leon looked at me seriously.
“I’ll be there.”
“Huh?”
I couldn’t help but raise my voice. Prince Leon and I…?
“Of course. You are my fiancé.”
“N-No, it’s just a fake engagement…”
“Fake?”
Adrian tilted his head.
“Yes, it’s a fake engagement. Apparently, Prince Leon has some trouble because he doesn’t have a fiancé, so this is just a way to avoid that…”
Adrian glanced at Prince Leon with a look that seemed to say “Oh, really?”
“I see… so it’s a fake engagement.”
For some reason, Adrian’s voice had a strange tone to it. He looked toward Prince Leon like he was trying to confirm something.
“Anyway!”
I raised my voice to change the subject.
“So, I shouldn’t take suppressants too often?”
“That’s right. I’ll prescribe a little for emergencies, but try not to use it if possible.”
Adrian took a small bottle from the medicine shelf.
“This is for emergencies. Take it as soon as you feel signs of heat. But try to resolve it naturally if you can…”
His words threw my mind into chaos. The idea of Prince Leon and me in that kind of situation… just imagining it was overwhelming. The perfect prince and me…
“Cyril, your face is red.”
Prince Leon’s voice reached my ears.
“N-No, it’s nothing!”
“Be careful, it might be the start of heat.”
Adrian joked, but I only blushed more.
Then, Prince Leon suddenly remembered something.
“Adrian.”
“Yes?”
“I will be inspecting the eastern fortress starting in three days. I’ll be gone for about two weeks.”
“Understood. I’ll look into the poison arrow during that time.”
Adrian’s expression was mysterious. It was clear he was hiding something, but I didn’t know what.
“Well, you two, please go outside. I don’t want to interrupt your time together.”
Adrian’s teasing voice left me unsure how to respond. Prince Leon silently grabbed my arm and tried to leave the room.
Just before the door closed, I heard Adrian’s voice.
“Leo, good luck!”
What exactly does he mean by that?
Standing by the closed door, an awkward silence settled between Prince Leon and me.
“Um… Prince Leon.”
“Yes?”
“About that… heat thing…”
Prince Leon looked me straight in the eyes.
“I’m serious about this, but I won’t force you if you don’t want it.”
My heart started pounding loudly. Why am I this nervous…?
“T-Thank you for your kindness. But I’m sure I can manage with the suppressants!”
I answered quickly, flustered. Prince Leon kept staring at me, like he wanted to say more, but I couldn’t understand what.
