I Was a Royal Palace Knight, But I Turned Out to Be an Omega, So I Had to Resign (BL) - Chapter 32
“Excuse me for intruding~”
Adrian walked into the house with a curious look. Since he grew up in the royal capital, a small country noble’s house like this must seem unusual to him. The Glantz family mansion, although noble, was built almost like a commoner’s house due to my parents’ tastes. From Adrian’s perspective, who is related to the royal family, a place like this is probably rare to see.
“Sorry, we don’t really have a proper guest room. If the living room is okay…” Arthur said apologetically. Adrian looked thoughtful for a moment.
“No, actually, I want to talk with Cyril alone. Do you have a private room?”
“A private room, huh…? Well, there’s only my room. Is that okay?”
When I said that, Adrian nodded.
“Oh, then I’ll prepare some tea.”
Arthur said that and headed to the kitchen. While Adrian was being led to my room upstairs, I could hear my mother’s loud voice from downstairs.
“What!? From the royal palace!? Arthur, why didn’t you tell me earlier!? I’ll prepare tea and sweets right away!”
Hearing that, I couldn’t help but glance at Adrian. He must have heard my mother’s noisy voice as well. Sure enough, Adrian smiled, probably because of her voice.
“Sorry, it seems I startled your mother.”
“It’s fine. She’s loud but loves having guests.”
After reaching the top of the stairs, I showed Adrian to my room.
My room is simple with just a bed and desk. Honestly, since it was originally a child’s room, it feels a bit cramped with two adults in it. I sat down on the bed and invited Adrian to sit on the desk chair.
He sat down and looked around the room with interest.
“Hmm, it feels cozy. The handwoven-looking bed cover, the scent of old wood…”
“Compared to the royal palace, it’s like night and day.”
“But it’s not bad. I like it. You grew up in this kind of environment, huh?”
Adrian’s profile as he looked around reminded me of Lord Leon, and it made my heart skip a little. Even though the atmosphere is very different, it reminded me that we’re related by bl00d.
“Sorry to bother you—I brought the tea!”
Just then, my mother knocked and came in carrying a tray with tea and sweets. Her hair was more neatly done than usual, clearly trying to make a good impression.
“Please forgive the poor hospitality for such an unexpected visit…”
My mother spoke like a noble’s attendant.
“No, no, don’t worry about it. Are these sweets homemade? They look delicious.”
“Yes! They’re baked treats made from the Glantz family’s secret recipe.”
Their conversation seemed lively, but I stood up to keep it brief.
“We have something important to discuss, Mom. Thanks.”
“Is that so? Well, take your time. Call me if you need anything.”
After my mother put the tea down and left, it was just Adrian and me in the room.
Adrian took a sip of tea and sighed in relief.
“Well then…”
Now that we were alone, Adrian looked ready to get to the main point. I sat back down on the bed and listened.
“You probably have an idea why I’m here.”
Adrian smiled lightly and looked me straight in the eye.
“The situation with Lord Kyle at the palace has finally settled down. The court cases and investigations were tough, but things have calmed for now. So, Leo wants to call you back to the palace.”
“I see…”
Even though I expected it, hearing it made my chest warm. Lord Leon really intends to welcome me back.
“The letters didn’t explain everything in detail, but Kyle admitted to a secret pact with a neighboring country and is now imprisoned. Valen Kirshtein is guilty too. They were behind the incident at the eastern fortress, so Leon’s honor has been fully restored.”
“That’s good…”
I truly felt that. Something inside me relaxed. Knowing that Lord Leon’s honor was restored made me happiest.
Adrian’s expression grew serious as he looked at my reaction.
“But, Cyril, I want to make sure of one thing.”
“What?”
“Are you really ready to become Leo’s spouse?”
His straightforward question made me swallow hard. Spouse—up until now, we’d only said fiancé, but spouse felt more real and raw.
“…Yes, absolutely.”
Despite feeling shy and my cheeks warming, I answered firmly.
“I like Lord Leon. I’m sure of my feelings now. I want to be by his side.”
Adrian looked surprised, then smiled gently. Relief showed clearly on his face.
“Good. If you’d said no, I wouldn’t have been able to go back to the palace.”
He joked, but I sensed some truth in his words.
“By the way, there’s one more thing I need to tell you…”
Adrian looked a bit uneasy.
“Sorry for telling you after asking for your agreement, but when you return to the palace, you’ll be marrying Lord Leonhart immediately.”
“Huh?”
I couldn’t help but exclaim.
“Marry him… right away?”
“Yes, sorry. You pretty much don’t have a choice.”
Adrian continued apologetically.
“According to royal rules, since you already had a broken engagement with Leo, you can’t get engaged again. But you can skip the engagement and go straight to marriage. So, I’m sorry, but there’ll be a wedding ceremony soon after you get back.”
“Why so suddenly!?”
I was so shocked I stood up. Even though I want to be with Lord Leon, this sudden rush was hard to accept.
“Wait, isn’t this moving way too fast?”
Adrian stood and put a hand on my shoulder.
“Calm down, Cyril.”
He spoke seriously.
“The palace won’t let you in without being married to royalty. So, you have to get married to Leo right away.”
“But having the wedding immediately…”
“I get it, it’s tough. But royal customs are complicated. Marriage means a big ceremony and public introduction. Usually, we’d prepare during the engagement, but since Kyle’s incident blew that away, there’s no time to prepare…”
I understood now. The engagement period was lost due to Kyle’s case, so it’s a sudden, no-prep wedding. Ugh, please spare me.
I looked inside myself again. Yes, I’m shaken, but that’s no reason to refuse. Actually, I’m more excited about finally being with Lord Leon.
“…Alright.”
I looked up at Adrian.
“I’ll accept the wedding or whatever. We were going to end up together anyway; it’s just happening sooner.”
“Really?”
“I want to be by Lord Leon’s side. I’m surprised, but I’d never leave him just because of that.”
I felt shy but spoke honestly. Adrian exhaled deeply and visibly relaxed.
“Good… really. Leo will be happy too.”
Seeing Adrian’s relieved face, I couldn’t help but smile as well.
