I Was a Royal Palace Knight, But I Turned Out to Be an Omega, So I Had to Resign (BL) - Final Chapter
It had been a month since the wedding.
A whirlwind of a month, really. The day after the ceremony, there was a grand reception attended by many nobles. I spent the entire time at Leon’s side, trying my best to keep smiling. Nobles came up to us one after another, showering me with praise like: “The hero who saved Princess Lydia!” or “The loyal knight who risked their life to protect Prince Leonhardt!”
“Sir Cyril, you were truly brave when you saved Princess Lydia!”
“The story of you shielding Prince Leonhardt has spread all across the capital!”
Every time someone greeted me, they would say something like that, and I never knew how to respond. Apparently, stories about me had been spreading among the nobility—greatly exaggerated ones at that—and they seemed to think quite highly of me. It made me happy, sure, but also super embarrassing. I’m still not used to it.
After that came the parade for the citizens, the moving process, and a bunch of other things. The days were so busy I barely had time to breathe. It was only recently that things finally started to calm down.
“…Sir Cyril, please focus.”
Edgar’s stern voice snapped me back to the book in front of me. I was currently in my private room in the palace, seated at a desk studying. Edgar stood beside me, his posture perfectly straight, teaching me all about foreign affairs and the kingdom’s political system in meticulous detail.
“The Duchy of Bafford is the keystone of defense in the kingdom’s northern region and has close ties with the First Prince’s faction. However, their previous head passed away five years ago—”
Edgar continued. Dukes, marquises… who’s where and what their political stance is—no matter how much he explained, none of it stuck in my head. Still, as the royal consort now, this is knowledge I need. It wouldn’t do to be clueless.
Focus. Focus…
I tried to fire myself up and get back to studying, but within ten minutes, my attention was drifting again. I glanced out the window at the bright blue sky and let out a sigh. On a day like this, I just wanted to run around outside.
“You’ve clearly lost focus. …I suppose that’s enough for today.”
Edgar closed the book with a sigh. I flopped onto the desk in relief.
“Finally… it’s over…”
“Sir Cyril, as the consort to royalty, understanding politics and international relations is essential.”
“I know that. But… when will I be allowed to return to being a royal guard?”
The words slipped out of me before I could stop them.
After marrying Leon, I thought I’d be allowed to resume my duties as a royal guard. But that hadn’t happened. Ever since the wedding, I’d been stuck in study sessions inside the palace. I was allowed to train with my sword, but even that was limited to “light exercise.” Intense training, the kind that simulated real combat, had been strictly forbidden.
Edgar gave me a rueful smile and shook his head.
“Returning to guard duty won’t be possible for a while.”
“Why not? Don’t you trust my skills?”
“That’s not the issue.”
He paused for a moment, as if carefully choosing his words.
“Right now, as the royal consort, what’s most expected of you is to bear an heir. Until your first child is born, you’ll be kept away from any potential danger for your own protection.”
“A—A child!?”
My voice came out louder than I meant it to. Of course, as an omega, I could have children, and I did want to have a child with Leon someday. But that was something for the future—I hadn’t really thought about the timing yet.
Watching my reaction, Edgar checked his pocket watch as if to change the subject.
“…By the way, isn’t today your regular check-up with Lord Adrian?”
His words made me freeze. I’d completely forgotten! I quickly stood and bowed.
“Thanks for today! See you tomorrow!”
Edgar gave a small nod and smile.
“Take care.”
I rushed out of the room.
Adrian’s lab was just down the hall. First, up the grand staircase…
“Cyril!”
A cheerful voice called from behind. When I turned around, I saw a small figure running toward me—Princess Lydia.
“Hello, Princess Lydia.”
She had been overjoyed when I married Leon, and since then, she’d become very attached to me. Whenever we crossed paths in the palace, she always ran over like this.
“Where are you off to, Cyril?”
Despite her young age, Lydia always spoke politely. But sometimes, she still showed a childlike enthusiasm, and that mix of maturity and playfulness made her especially charming.
“I’m going to see Adrian. I have a check-up today.”
“I see!”
Her eyes sparkled with curiosity.
“So, Cyril—are things going well with Uncle Leon? You’re not fighting or anything, right?”
I was caught off guard by the unexpected question. When she’s like this, she sounds like a little relationship counselor.
“O-of course! We’re getting along great. No fighting at all.”
“That’s wonderful! I really can’t wait to meet my cousin!”
“Cousin?”
“If you and Uncle Leon have a baby, they’ll be my cousin, right?”
I was completely speechless. Everyone seemed to be talking about me and Leon having kids lately, and it was making me feel super awkward.
“Th-that’s something for the future!”
“Is it? But everyone in the castle is saying they hope you’ll have a baby soon.”
She said it with a bright smile, then gave me a polite bow and waved as she walked down the hallway.
I buried my face in my hands and let out a deep sigh. I was going to have to start being more aware of the palace’s expectations. I hadn’t realized just how much people were already looking forward to Leon and me having a child.
After a deep breath to calm myself, I climbed the rest of the stairs and headed down the western wing corridor. Through the window, I could see the palace gardens where gardeners were tending to colorful flowers. Adrian’s lab was still a bit farther ahead.
Passing through the corridor that connected the west and east wings, I entered one of the quieter areas of the palace. This part wasn’t frequented by most palace staff and was lined with the research rooms of royal scholars and court magicians.
Adrian’s lab was located at the far end of the eastern wing, near one of the towers. A plaque on the door read “Royal Miasma Research Officer – Adrian.” I quickly straightened my collar and knocked.
“Come in.”
I expected Adrian to answer, but the door opened to reveal a surprising face.
“Ah, Arthur!”
It was my younger brother. He looked more energetic than ever, wearing a white lab coat and holding what looked like some kind of research notes.
“Hey, Arthur. You look well.”
“I am! Adrian’s been teaching me all kinds of things today.”
After the wedding, Arthur had shown a strong interest in miasma research, and Adrian had formally taken him on as his assistant. That’s why he was now working here at the palace.
When I stepped into the lab, I noticed how much more organized it was than before. Books and documents were neatly shelved, and the equipment that used to be scattered across the floor had all been put away properly. A few plants lined the windowsill, giving the room a much softer feel. I was sure—no, absolutely certain—that Arthur had done all this tidying.
“Adrian! Cyril’s here!”
Arthur called out, and Adrian looked up from the workbench in the back. He was holding a small stone glowing with magical energy.
“Ah, Cyril! Glad you made it.”
Adrian gave Arthur some kind of instructions, and Arthur responded with a cheerful “Yes, sir!” before returning to his work. Watching the two of them interact so warmly made me smile. Their relationship felt more like brothers than mentor and apprentice. It made me feel a little complicated, like my younger brother had been taken away from me. But Adrian was a good guy, so I had no reason to worry about leaving Arthur in his care.
“Come on, over here.”
Adrian beckoned me over and had me sit on a bed placed in the corner of the room.
“How’s life at the royal palace? Are you getting used to it?”
“I’m finally starting to settle in, but now I’m stuck studying all the time. Honestly, it’s starting to feel suffocating.”
I answered honestly, and Adrian chuckled as he took out his examination tools.
“Well, you are carrying the body that’s expected to produce the next royal heir. That’s why you need to come see me regularly for checkups.”
Another mention of kids. For some reason, that topic keeps coming up a lot today.
Adrian cleared his throat, then helped me out of my jacket and pressed a tool against my back—it looked like it measured the flow of magical energy. The cold metal touched my skin, and I shivered involuntarily.
“Take a deep breath… that’s it.”
He smoothly continued the checkup while chatting casually.
“I heard from Leo that negotiations have started with the neighboring country over the stolen fortress.”
“Yeah, I heard that too. Seems like they’re having a hard time holding onto it. They’re short on manpower and supplies.”
Leon had mentioned it as well. Apparently, the neighboring country had assumed they’d get help from their second prince, Kyle, but that support never came. As a result, they hadn’t been able to properly staff the fortress.
“Given that situation, we initially considered taking it back by force, but Leo’s decided to try negotiating to find some middle ground. A peaceful resolution might be tough, but avoiding war is always the better option.”
“That sounds like Leo. It’s a very him kind of decision.”
Listening to Adrian’s calm voice, memories of what happened at that fortress came flooding back. That place was where Leon and I first really opened up to each other. So much had happened there, but without that experience, our relationship might never have begun.
“…Alright, the checkup’s done.”
Adrian’s voice brought me back to the present. He stood up with a smile and took a small vial from a shelf.
“Oh, right. Could you give this to Leo for me?”
“This is… a suppressant?”
I asked as I took the bottle. It didn’t look like the suppressants he’d given me before.
“Nope, not this time.”
Adrian shook his head.
“What kind of medicine is it, then?”
Concerned, I asked him again. He grinned mischievously, leaned in close, and whispered in my ear.
“It’s a stamina booster. All newlywed royals get one.”
“W-what?!”
My voice cracked in surprise. A stamina booster?! Why?! But then the word “heir,” which I’d been hearing all day, flashed through my mind.
“I-I’m going home now!”
Feeling my face flush, I clutched the little bottle tightly and hurried toward the lab door. Behind me, I could hear Adrian chuckling.
“Good luck~”
That teasing voice followed me as I dashed out into the hallway. On the way back to the palace, the little vial in my pocket felt heavier than it should’ve.
Later that night, moonlight streamed through our bedroom window as I let out a deep breath in Leon’s arms. His embrace, the cooling sweat on my skin, the warmth of being held—it all made me feel at peace.
In the end, I didn’t give him the stamina booster. He didn’t need it. He already loved me completely just as he was—and honestly, with how much energy this prince has, giving him something like that would only end with me collapsing. I’m not about to dig my own grave.
Next to me, Leon was still catching his breath, his chest rising and falling slowly. I stared up at the ceiling, thoughts drifting back to the things I’d heard throughout the day.
“…Do you want to have a child with me?”
The words slipped out in a whisper. Leon’s body froze.
“Did someone say something to you?”
His voice was calm, but there was a sharp edge to it.
“Well… yeah. A lot of people have been saying they expect me to give birth to an heir or something like that.”
I answered honestly. Leon let out a small sigh, then reached out to gently stroke my hair.
“…If you ask whether I want a child with you, I won’t lie—I do. But I don’t want to force that desire on you or ignore your feelings. Especially since we’ve just gotten married. There’s no need to rush into anything.”
His words, full of respect for my feelings, made my chest tighten with emotion. The way he stroked my hair so tenderly filled me with warmth and a sense of security. I could feel how deeply he cherished me.
“…I want one too. A child with you, Leon.”
Before I knew it, those words had left my mouth. Leon’s hand froze.
That’s when I realized what a bold thing I’d just said. I tried to backtrack, but it was too late. When I looked up, I saw the fire of desire once again flickering in his eyes.
“W-wait, I didn’t mean right this second—”
“But you do want one, don’t you?”
His voice was low and sweet.
“Then there’s no need to hold back.”
With that, he leaned over me again. My body, still full of the love he had just poured into me, responded easily to his touch, heating up once more.
Letting out a small sigh, I closed my eyes and surrendered to him. Wrapped in his warmth, a thought crossed my mind.
Life at the palace, my new role as a royal consort instead of a guard, and the possibility of having a child someday—there are still so many changes ahead.
But right now, in this moment, held in the arms of the one I love, I couldn’t ask for anything more.
That night was only the beginning of their story.
Five years later—
Today, as always, a single knight stood at the side of Prince Leonhart Wilhelm Elkrest, the third prince of the Kingdom of Elkrest.
Dressed in a deep blue military uniform and with a sword at his waist, the knight walked proudly beside the prince, their presence equally commanding. His hair was neatly trimmed, and his amber eyes stayed alert, always watching their surroundings.
His name was Cyril Glantz—and, most surprisingly, he was also Prince Leonhart’s official spouse.
An Omega man becoming the royal consort and still serving as an active knight—such a thing would have been unthinkable in the Kingdom of Elkrest just five years ago. But times had changed. Their marriage had helped to greatly reduce the stigma against Omegas throughout the kingdom.
The couple now had two sons and a daughter. Their close-knit and loving family had become a symbol of what a happy family could look like—something many in the kingdom looked up to.
And so, the story of a former knight Omega, a third prince, and their beloved children continued on, page by page, even today.
A story that would one day be passed down through the Kingdom of Elkrest—
—As a tale of love and hope, destined to last forever.
