I Was Reincarnated As An Instructor In An R18 Game... - Chapter 77
[Roy POV]
I’m running down the empty main street, bathed in the light of dusk.
The writing tools I use in class had broken.
If I asked someone at the estate, they’d probably prepare replacements.
But I wanted to handle my own things as much as possible.
Street 7 is usually a shopping district, it’s unusual for no one to be around.
Or rather… something’s wrong.
I stop in my tracks and scan the area while pulling out my trusted longsword from the pouch-shaped magic bag on my hip.
I stay alert, keeping the blade sheathed.
“You should have just run away.”
“…Who’s there…? Guh!?”
The moment I responded to the raspy male voice, I sensed a surge of magical energy and leapt backward.
The ground where I was moments ago had exploded. I braced myself with one hand and looked straight ahead.
At the same time, a figure in a black hooded cloak appeared.
That person hung something bound by magical ropes between both ends.
I looked at what they were… no, at the two people, clenched my teeth, and muttered.
“Lucy, Shirin…”
At that moment, the black-hooded figure released a burst of magic and fired a water spell.
I drew my longsword and dodged the water spell to the side as I closed in, but a wall of water appeared before me and I had to retreat.
I slashed through the water whips extending from the wall and saw the two suspended figures writhing in pain.
I breathed a sigh of relief upon seeing they were still alive, but more magic attacks came at me immediately.
Maybe thanks to my training, I’m holding my ground, though it’s not easy.
But as things are, I can only save one of them.
I dashed around, slashing the whips and gritting my teeth in frustration.
[Listen closely, Roy…]
“Instructor!?”
As I ran from one end of the street to the other, I thought I heard Instructor Reid’s voice and scanned around with just my eyes.
No, he headed to Santoni. He shouldn’t be in the capital.
But just now, I clearly heard Instructor Reid’s words echo in my mind.
As the magic rained down, I kept slicing my way forward using my skills.
I was slowly closing in on the black-hooded figure, but the magic kept coming.
Worse yet, I could feel the magic growing stronger as I sliced through it.
Seeing bl00d trickling from the tied wrists of the two captives, I began to panic.
If I use my skill that can strike two targets at once, I should be able to save at least one of them.
But which one should I save?
My girlfriend, Lucy?
Or perhaps Shirin?
…Which one am I supposed to save!?
[If you can’t choose…]
“Ugh! What is this… something’s…”
As something stirred in my memory, I kept inching closer to the black hood, cutting down the water whips.
The closer I got, the faster the spells became. It was inevitable.
But looking at the two suspended figures, I knew there was no time to spare.
…Remember the training. Instructor Reid’s words… his words?
I remembered what Instructor Reid told me before he left for Santoni.
[If you can’t choose between them… then choose them both.]
“…Yes!’
I saw an opening, pushed forward with all my strength, and slashed at the black-hooded figure.
But they avoided the blow at the last second. I backed off, grinding my teeth, and was shocked when I looked at them.
I hadn’t wounded their body, but I managed to cut the hood.
I clenched my teeth even harder when I saw the face beneath the hood.
It was a purple-haired girl, expressionless, with tears streaming from both eyes.
…Is she being controlled!? A marionette-type skill!?
Thanks to Instructor Reid’s training, my understanding of skills had improved.
If she’s being controlled, then I’ll save her no matter what!
Choose one? No, that’s wrong!
[Listen, Roy. If you can’t decide between them… then choose them both. You can do it now.]
“Yes! I can do it now!”
Calming my heart, I cut through the whips and took in the surrounding buildings.
I moved cautiously so as not to be noticed, and saw something shift on the rooftop.
Without turning my head, I watched with my eyes and saw someone wearing a cloak the same color as the roof.
Confirming they weren’t moving, I let out a sly grin.
It seemed the girl’s mana was nearly spent; her magic had become sloppy, so I evaded and unleashed my skill.
My target was the magical ropes binding Lucy and Shirin.
Immediately after using my skill, I leveraged the building’s edge to move up onto the rooftop.
The figure noticed me, but I poured all my strength into my leg and kicked them away.
“Guh!? …You—!?”
“I’m Roy. Roy Dragonhall.”
After looking at the man who collapsed on the roof and confirming he didn’t move, I peered down at the main street.
All three of them, including the girl, lay collapsed on the ground.
The instructor would scold me if he saw this, but I sat on the rooftop, breathed a sigh of relief, and whispered with a smile.
I spoke the words for my instructor, though he wasn’t here.
“…Thank you, Instructor. It’s thanks to you.”
As more people appeared in the street below, I went down before things got out of hand.
I asked a nearby passerby to fetch the guards, then began tending their wounds.
