- Chapter 22 - The Heroine is Also a Reincarnator
The story goes back a little, to shortly after the event where she met Stefan— “Haa… I wonder where Arnold has gone.”
A girl with pink hair, Alice, murmured to herself as she walked through the academy grounds.
“Honestly, wherever I go, you show up. It’s exhausting.”
As Alice sighed, a voice called out from behind her.
“Alice! I finally found you! You keep disappearing so suddenly.”
“That’s my line, Arnold! The entrance ceremony is about to begin!”
“Sorry, sorry.”
The boy, addressed as Arnold, stuck out his tongue playfully as he apologized.
“I just want to enjoy a peaceful life at this academy. I already stand out enough with my appearance, so I don’t want to draw more attention by being late. Let’s go.”
Alice and Arnold hurriedly made their way toward the gymnasium.
—When they entered the gymnasium, the new students were already lined up. Alice and Arnold were guided to their spots in the line. As Alice scanned the surroundings, she spotted two girls—one with beautiful silver hair and the other with green hair.
(That can’t be… No, but those two shouldn’t have any connection. And besides, something about them feels… different.)
Curious, Alice focused her attention on their conversation.
“So, you see, my dear brother-in-law…”
“Oh my, then Lady Fiona…”
(Fiona! But… something is still off. What is it…?)
“Oh, those are the fiancées of the First and Second Princes.”
Arnold, following Alice’s gaze, murmured softly.
“You know them?”
“I haven’t met them personally, but the silver-haired girl is said to be Prince Allen’s fiancée, and the green-haired girl is Prince Cristel’s fiancée.”
“What…?”
Alice lightly placed a hand on her chin, lost in thought.
(Cristel’s fiancée is Fiona, right? Fiona has silver hair. I’ve seen her countless times—there’s no way I’d forget… Has the original story changed?)
“Now then, dear new students, congratulations on your enrollment—”
While Alice was deep in thought, the Headmaster’s welcome speech began. After about ten minutes of lengthy words, Allen, the student council president, appeared on stage.
“To all new students, congratulations on your admission.”
As soon as Allen appeared, the female students burst into excitement.
(Well, he is good-looking. His personality, though, leaves something to be desired.)
Half-listening to Allen’s speech, Arnold, looking slightly uneasy, asked Alice a question.
“Is someone like His Highness your type, Alice?”
“I’d say I’m not particularly fond of that type.”
“I see.”
Arnold visibly relaxed at her response. Seeing this, Alice sighed quietly, making sure Arnold didn’t notice.
◇◇◇◇
Lunch break. I found myself in the student council room.
“Prince Allen, as your secretary, what exactly are my duties?”
“Well, for starters, serve tea. Then… let’s see… take care of my personal needs.”
Allen responded with an annoyingly cheerful expression.
“But, Your Highness, don’t you already have attendants?”
Although the academy preaches equality among students, royalty is allowed to have attendants by their side.
“While I’m in the student council, I’ll rely on you. And outside of official settings, no need for stiff formalities. Let’s keep it casual.”
Casual—I won’t be fooled by that word again.
In my previous life, a superior once said at a company party, “Let’s speak freely, no need for formality.” I took them at their word and shared my honest thoughts. Their face turned crimson, and they erupted like a volcano.
That so-called casual atmosphere was a trap—like a scam. No doubt Allen just wants an excuse to punish me for disrespect. I won’t fall for it.
“Understood. And, Your Highness…”
“Just Allen. Drop the title.”
“Allen-sama, my stepsister Fiona mentioned she would like to have lunch with you today.”
“She’s my fiancée, after all. Not just today—I wouldn’t mind having lunch with her every day.”
“Haha, every day might be a bit much… I’ll go fetch my stepsister now.”
He gave me a sharp glare, and I quickly exited the student council room to retrieve Fiona.
Still, I can’t see how Allen fits the yandere archetype. He just comes across as an arrogant pretty boy.
But girls probably like that sort. If he did a wall slam or a floor slam with that face, I bet they’d gladly throw everything away for him.
More importantly, I wonder if Alice has already completed her encounter event with Allen. Since they’re in different academic years, they can’t conveniently end up together by chance like I did with Stefan. That makes things difficult.
“Brother-in-law! I’ve been waiting for you.”
Lost in thought, I suddenly found myself standing in front of the first-year classroom.
“Fiona, Allen… His Highness said he’d like to have lunch with you.”
“Then I shall get ready right away.”
Hm? I feel like someone’s watching me…
When I turned toward the source of the gaze, a flash of pink caught my eye—it was Alice.
The moment our eyes met, she looked away. Well, it’s natural to draw attention if a second-year student shows up in front of the first-year classrooms.
Next to Alice sat a handsome boy with brown hair, eating lunch with her. That must be Arnold. Among the boys in this class, he’s the only one who really stands out.
To be sharing lunch together on the very first day of school—they must be childhood friends, and clearly quite close.
“Brother-in-law, thank you for waiting.”
“Alright, let’s go.”
