I Was Told 'No One Would Miss You,' So I Became the Empress of Another Country - Episode 12
A few days after my conversation with Logan, Lydia brought me information that Flora’s actions had become even more active.
“Apparently, she’s been encouraging Prince Leon to come up with a plan to bring you down. I’ve heard they’re preparing a very malicious fake story,” Lydia said.
She looked unusually serious as she spoke.
Once she confirmed I was listening, she let out a deep sigh and explained the details.
It seemed that Flora was planning to fabricate a story that I was secretly making deals with the Empire to sell out the country.
“They’re going to forge documents to make it look like Celestia has been secretly leaking information to the Empire,” Lydia added.
The moment she said this, I felt a chill run down my spine.
This wasn’t just slander or insults anymore.
If Crown Prince Leon led the charge, I could be accused of treason, which was just as serious as betraying the country.
“Are they really going that far…?” I asked, stunned.
“Flora’s desperation comes from the fact that you’re assisting His Majesty Logan. If she can use Leon’s influence, she thinks she can turn you into a criminal in one fell swoop,” Lydia explained.
She was right. If the fake evidence were revealed, my position at court would be in immediate danger.
Even though it wasn’t true, I could easily be swept away by rumors and the power dynamics of the court.
I immediately reported this to my father, and he furrowed his brow deeply.
“Those scoundrels, they’re willing to get their hands that dirty. If you’re suspected of treason, it wouldn’t be surprising if you were arrested,” he said.
“Yes. That’s why we need to be extremely cautious. We have no idea where or how they’ll use this fake evidence,” I replied.
My father stroked his chin thoughtfully, then lowered his voice, warning me carefully.
“We need to find a clue. How do Flora and Leon’s followers plan to forge those documents? I’ll use my military intelligence network to investigate. If you’re prepared to act despite the danger, please be cautious.”
“I understand. I won’t act rashly. If we can catch them in the act of fabricating the evidence, we might even be able to turn the tables on them,” I said.
Even as I spoke, anxiety and anger swirled inside me.
They were willing to spread lies and forge documents just to bring me down.
Such actions could never be allowed.
Lydia also offered to use her own network to help.
“I’ll secretly get close to Flora’s associates. Those people are sensitive to rumors, so I’m sure they’ll let something slip,” she said.
“Thank you, Lydia. But don’t push yourself too hard. They’re incredibly persistent,” I warned her.
“It’s fine. I wouldn’t hesitate to go through a little trouble if it’s for Celestia’s sake,” Lydia replied.
Her words were truly reassuring.
While relying on her, I also planned to gather more information from people around me.
To expose Leon and Flora’s scheme, I needed to understand what actions they were planning.
“…Finally, it seems like we’re about to take the next step,” Lydia said.
Her expression looked determined, and I could see that she was fully committed.
I felt the same way.
The fake documents and testimonies they were preparing might actually become weapons we could use against them.
If they were going to release these forgeries without realizing it, we’d have a chance to strike back with a decisive blow.
Once the fraud was exposed, the fact that the Crown Prince and his lover had tried to frame a Duke’s daughter would send shockwaves through the court.
With a quiet but burning resolve in my heart, I began to take action again, planning how I would bring down Flora and Leon.
