I Was Told 'No One Would Miss You,' So I Became the Empress of Another Country - Episode 15
Finally, Flora made her move a few days later, during an official gathering.
The main nobles and high officials of the Lowell Kingdom were gathered, along with envoys from the Empire.
I was standing by Logan’s side as his assistant, but during the meeting, Leon suddenly stood up.
“I have an important report to make. It seems that Celestia… no, the Duchess of Kreutzfeldt, is planning to communicate with the Empire,” Leon announced.
Everyone in the meeting started murmuring.
Including myself, Logan squinted his eyes, listening carefully to Leon’s words.
Then, at Leon’s urging, Flora stepped forward.
“This is the document that proves it. It’s concrete evidence that Celestia-sama was arranging to send secret information to the Empire…” Flora said, holding a piece of paper in her hand.
Ah, it’s finally here.
I quietly took a deep breath and signaled to my father.
Flora, proudly glancing at me, tried to reveal the document.
“According to this, she was planning to inform the Empire in detail about our country’s military and political situation. And there’s even the Kreutzfeldt family crest on the signature…”
At that moment, I boldly raised my hand.
“Excuse me, may I see that document? I would like to inspect it as well,” I said.
Everyone’s gaze immediately shifted toward me.
Flora seemed slightly taken aback, but she snorted triumphantly.
“Yes, of course. With all this evidence, there’s no way to deny it,” Flora said, offering the document.
After reading it, I saw my name signed and a fake crest stamped on it.
However, the handwriting was clearly different and clumsy.
I sent a look to my father, and he nodded deeply in response.
“Everyone, we can easily confirm whether this signature is truly mine. The Kreutzfeldt family has many copies of my letters, and there are experts who specialize in handwriting analysis. Please allow us to verify this here,” I suggested.
Once again, the room began to murmur.
I could see Flora’s expression stiffen.
“W-well, handwriting changes from day to day, doesn’t it? And the crest is the best proof!” Flora argued.
“Even the crest can be forged. In fact, considering how poorly the seal was stamped, it only raises suspicion,” I countered.
As I continued, Flora nervously glanced at Leon.
Leon, unable to hide his irritation, clicked his tongue and spoke sharply.
“Do we really need to go through all the trouble of verifying the handwriting? If Celestia is truly innocent, she should be able to prove it immediately.”
“Of course. The arrangements have already been made, so it won’t take long,” I replied.
With that, several of my father’s subordinates entered the meeting, holding a stack of letters.
They included fragments of my long-written diaries and letters. A handwriting expert was also present.
The expert quickly examined the documents and within a few minutes, reached a conclusion.
“This handwriting is clearly different from Celestia-sama’s. Additionally, the stamp of the family crest is slightly misaligned, which strongly suggests it’s a forgery,” the expert said.
The people in the court were shocked and murmured in disbelief.
Leon glared at Flora, as if trying to shift the blame onto her.
But Flora desperately tried to explain.
“N-no, I only received this from Prince Leon… Maybe someone tried to frame him!” she claimed.
“What, are you trying to pin this on me? You’re the one who brought it in!” Leon shouted.
A heated argument broke out between them, and the room became chaotic.
Whispers of “Could it have been fabricated?” and “I can’t believe Celestia-sama was misunderstood…” spread throughout the room.
While I felt relieved inside, I knew I couldn’t let my guard down just yet.
The positions of both Leon and Flora were now in jeopardy, but Leon would never admit to his mistake.
“The fact that this engagement is being annulled doesn’t change. I don’t regret my decision!” Leon shouted, glaring at me.
His gaze still held a trace of determination to bring me down.
Even though everyone around him was growing more suspicious and disappointed in him, he showed no signs of backing down.
However, this forgery scandal had undoubtedly shaken the trust in both Leon and Flora.
Instead of me being made the villain, evidence now pointed to their shady actions.
How would the crown prince, Leon, handle this situation?
What kind of explanation would Flora give?
The next developments were unavoidable.
Still, I felt that after fighting to protect my honor, I had finally found a glimmer of hope.
